Uniden EXP7900 900-MHz Analog Cordless Phone

Product Description

Amazon.com Review
Are you looking for a cordless phone you can take outside, upstairs, and down the hall without losing your connection? The Uniden EXP7900 provides clear, long-range transmission at an affordable price.

Before testing the EXP7900, we charged it for the recommended 15 to 20 hours. The sturdy handset has an intuitive button layout featuring flash, memory, and three "one-touch priority" keys. The memory function stores up to 10 phone numbers. The priority buttons dial the numbers you have stored into memory locations 1, 2, and 3 on the keypad.

Learning the phone's features was also easy and intuitive. To save a number, we pressed the memory button, entered the phone number, pressed memory again, and then assigned a number between zero and nine. The handset beeped to let us know the number was saved. To dial a saved number, we simply pressed talk, memory, and then the memory location (0 through 9). Dialing a number from a priority button is even easier; pressing "m1," "m2," or "m3" dials the number automatically. If you subscribe to call waiting, you can switch to an incoming call by pressing the flash button.

Since the EXP7900 operates in the 900 MHz radio band, its signal can easily penetrate walls and other physical barriers better than lower frequency signals, while maintaining a clear connection. During our tests, we noticed a slight humming sound in the background but it wasn't enough to be distracting. We were able to use the phone 100 feet from the base with no interference and up to 700 feet with some background static. The channel button activates a 40-channel auto scan that finds the best channel for your current call.

Additional features of the 7900 include redial, ringer selection, and volume. You can choose between two different ringer sounds. The volume button adjusts your ringer to high or low, and also provides three receiver levels. While you are on a call, simply press the volume button until you reach the level you want. A handset locator button on the base allows you to find your handset if it is within hearing distance. The EXP7900 is also hearing- aid compatible and can be wall-mounted. --Emily Bakko

5 out of 5 stars A long lasting worthy phone........2002-06-08

This phone is a very good phone. Caller ID identifies who is calling you, good reception, you can recharge it anytime, and plus there is a signal button on the phone hook that triggers a beeping sound that will help you find the phone if you misplaced it. Really an awesome feature.

This phone too has lasted a long time and it is still working like new!

A wonderful cordless phone.

1 out of 5 stars Don't bother.......2001-07-08

I bought this phone as a Christmas present for a friend. We now refer to it as the "possessed" phone. It clicks and makes strange noises, even when fully charged. You get what you pay for.

4 out of 5 stars Dorm Room Phone Review.......2001-05-08

I bought this phone a few weeks ago for use in our dorm room. It is a good, basic phone, and...if it gets damaged in the course of college life, it dosen't matter. It does have some static and noise out on our deck, but other than that it is a reliable phone and my roomate and I are very happy with it. It is comfortable to hold and very light, with clear buttons and good instructions, plus the rebate. If you are in the market for a phone, you'll be happy with this one.

5 out of 5 stars A good phone at a good price.......2001-04-08

For the money, you can't beat this phone especially with the $5 rebate that's included. The basic features are as good as any higher priced model (although if you have caller ID you're going to need a box) and programming numbers is simple. The sound quality is also good and it has a great range (our house has three floors and I can go up and down without experiencing background static), although we have another line and when that phone rings and I'm on the Uniden I do get interference. All in all you're getting a quality phone at a savings.

2 out of 5 stars Bad Sound when Talking.......2001-02-25

The price is right, but when I talk into this phone it doesn't sound natural. The voice of the person that I am talking to is good, but my voice sounds wierd. Maybe all cordless phones are this way. I don't know.
