Panasonic's KXTC1711 basic 900 MHZ phone with call waiting/caller ID features up to eight hours of talk time and a 21-day standby battery life. The LCD readout displays the name and number of incoming callers, even if you are on another call. The KXTC1711 stores up to 50 caller ID numbers. After you set-up a service with your phone company, the KXTC1711B also offers a 15-minute digital answering machine.

The base and handset have separate keypads so you can use either to answer calls. The base includes a digital speakerphone with natural sound. To locate a misplaced handset simply touch a button on the base and the handset will beep. The soundcharger technology filters out background noise and enhances the sound quality. This model also includes flash, redial, pause, switchable tone/pulse dialing, an adjustable ringer, and is wall mountable.

I've owned this phone for about 2 weeks now and I HATE it! I live in a high rise, and I actually had to dig out an old corded phone and plug it into the wall because I was getting so many complaints from the people I was talking to about buzzing on my phone. It gets static all the time; the buttons on the handset are poorly designed so that if I try to hold it on my shoulder I disconnect myself half the time; the caller ID re-dial doesn't work properly; and on and on....

I now have voice mail, caller ID and call waiting with one of those "total solution" plans from the phone company. This phone handles all three of those services wonderfully! It has an indicator on it (even though it's not an answering machine) that you have voice mail messages, as well as a special button to push to access the voice mail system. It has a lighted caller ID display that also works with call waiting (when you're on another call, it beeps and shows the ID of the incoming call). The base also has a speaker phone, so you can stay on hold without using your hands. And the Panasonic cordless technology is the best, worth paying a little extra for.
