Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description
The VTech VT1932 900 MHz digital cordless phone with dual keypad and speakerphone offers convenient features that make your busy life a little easier. The phone is also small and sturdy, with a base that can be wall mounted or placed on any flat surface. Plus, the enhanced digital audio signal provides clear sound up to 60 feet from the base.

The VT1932 includes a keypad on the base for quick dialing with the speakerphone. You can place and answer calls from the base even when you can't find the handset. However, when you need to locate the handset, the intercom button on the base pages the handset with a continuous ring, making it easy to find.

The VT1932 displays caller ID information on both the base and the handset, so you'll always know who's calling before you answer. The caller ID memory can store up to 50 names and phone numbers along with the time and date of each call. You can use the left and right arrow keys to browse through the list of callers in the caller ID log, or you can access up to 50 speed-dial numbers in the phone's directory. When you locate the number you want to call, press the talk button and the phone automatically dials for you. If you receive a voice mail message, the message light on the base unit illuminates and turns off only when you have listened to all messages.

The VT1932 also has a two-way intercom that allows you to talk between the handset and the base--great for communicating with family members who may wander off with the phone. For hands-free operation, you can even use the speakerphone function from the handset, attach the belt clip, or plug in a compatible headset (not included). --Megan Dugan

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2002-06-09

I have had this phone for nine months and have had no problems to date. The range is good. The speakerphone is also excellent. My only problem is that it would have been nice if the phone had a clock on its display. Other than that it works excellent.

This phone had every feature I was looking for-dual keypad, speakerphone, etc. Unfortunately, any time I walk to the back of the house or upstairs,it cuts out and reads "channel searching", then finds a new channel. This happens alot. I do not have a big house. As soon as I walk away from the base it starts in. It is so annoying and it happens about every 1 1/2 minutes until I go back into the room with the base. I live in residential area of a small city so there isn't a lot of interference from surrounding buildings. It just shouldn't channel surf this much. I'm dumping it.

4 out of 5 stars Almost perfect........2001-11-18

I've owned a VTech cordless since '96, and when the lines on the display started to "go" from old age, I was thrilled to replace it with the 1932 because it had precisely the features I wanted--speakerphone on the base and dual Caller ID--with none of the ones I didn't--a second line or answering machine.

Unfortunately, the Caller ID on the base is not all it's cracked up to be.

It does display the incoming call information while the phone is ringing, but you are unable to scroll through (or place calls via) the stored Caller ID information. This is one of my primary uses of CID, mostly to check "who called" before dialing in to get my messages, so this is a major dissapointment.

I have emailed VTech's customer service regarding this issue, but they did not bother to respond.

Also, the speakerphone in the handset is unimpressive. It cuts in and out and really isn't useful for carrying on a conversation. It's serviceable for waiting on hold, but even then it can be difficult to tell the difference between the party picking up, and the phone cutting out. This is a minor issue because I rarely use the speakerphone on the headset, just that on the base for listening to messages.

Other than that it is a nice phone with good quality, I just wished I'd bought it from somewhere with a more leniant return policy. I would have taken it back and waited for "next year's" model, which surely will have these problems fixed.

1 out of 5 stars Forget this one!.......2001-09-13

I bought this phone on the strength of the good reviews here. Sorry, folks, it has a few problems, starting with the fact that it uses so much juice that the battery cannot make it through a 15 minute phone call. It doesn't give very much warning before it dies either. It needs to be charged all night, EVERY night, and still cannot manage to make it through the day.
In addition, the caller ID sometimes registers the previous call instead of the current one. The same thing happens with the redial.
I have some saved messages that I don't necessarily want to hear every time, but I get a ring back if I don't listen to every message. In all fairness, this could be the fault of my voice mail rather than the phone.
Don't buy this one! ...

4 out of 5 stars Great Phone, great features.......2001-09-05

In the process of setting up my home office, I needed to find the right phone. My company recommended a corded speakerphone, but I like to be able to move around when I need to. I spent several months and purchased a corded speakerphone and 2 cordless phones. I wasn't happy with any of them. Either they didn't have a mute button on the handset or they didn't have one of the features that I was looking for.

I needed a Spread Spectrum (security) cordless phone with a mute, msg waiting indicator, and (if possible) a speakerphone for those long teleconferences that I could just listen to. This phone had all of those features AND sounds good regardless of whether I use a headset, the (cool) Handset speakerphone feature, or the base speakerphone feature. And it was much cheaper than other DSS phones that I looked @ in the stores.

Great Phone!
