Panasonic KXTC1866 900 MHz DSS Cordless Phone with Caller ID & Answering Device (Black)

Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description
The Panasonic KXTC1866 Spread Spectrum Cordless Phone features digital spread spectrum technology (DSS). DSS uses the entire 900 MHz frequency band, providing greater output, boosting range, and making eavesdropping on your calls very difficult.

Instead of using tapes, the all-digital answering machine records messages on an advanced microchip and has a total recording time of 15 minutes. Messages are held in flash memory and are unaffected by power failure or interruptions. You can also change the greeting message, check messages, erase messages, and more from any touch-tone phone.

The KXTC1866 supports caller ID with call waiting. The caller ID display is located on the back of the handset for easy viewing. The three-line LCD lets you see all caller ID information for each call without scrolling. You can store up to 50 telephone numbers in the KXTC1866's directory and can access them using the navigation key.

For recharging, the handset can be placed in the base with the keypad facing up or down. The battery charges in just six hours, thanks to the ultracharge battery-charge system, unlike other phones that require an overnight charging period. The lighted handset keypad makes it easier to dial numbers in darkened rooms.

The Panasonic KXTC1866B Spread Spectrum Cordless Phone comes with a one-year limited warranty on parts and labor.

3 out of 5 stars Great phone, but poor battery life.......2002-04-28

We've had the KXTC-1866 for about a year and have found it's great except for two issues. First, the battery runs down quite rapidly. We usually get about a half-hour of talk time. Second, the volume of the message payback is very poor on remote pickup, even if we set the volume to max. I am putting in a new battery in hopes that it was defective.

3 out of 5 stars Almost what I wanted.......2001-09-15

Sound quality is not great but passable, a headset fixes that. Reception has been great, and the handset is much more solid than the one with the AT&T phone/answerer it replaces. But, while the answering machine here is fine I miss the great features of the AT&T unit.
To do it again I'd buy an AT&T answering machine and a sep. cordless phone. Seems like you can't get the best of both worlds in one.

1 out of 5 stars High tech - Low quality.......2001-06-08

I agree with the previous review that this phone has an impressive functional capability, but I think the one that I received was released from manufacturing on Quality Assurance's day off. Fresh out of the box, all audio information changed volume level in a random manner, with no programming. This includes receive signals well asinformational beeps. At times the received signal would fade away entirely; even with the user standing next to the base unit. While programming inputs to the Directory, the "save" key began sticking. Again, the occurence was random; at times it would operate properly and at other times the key would have to be pushed from two to six times before the command would be executed.I reluctantly concluded that this puppy was not going to heal itself and that my only re course was to box it up and return it. I am getting another model Panasonic and trust that it will perform up to my expectations since I have one other Panasonic that has been flawless.

2 out of 5 stars Was fun while it lasted.......2001-04-20

I loved this phone. It had great features and it seemed well made and durable. Everyone in my family liked the phone. I thought I had finally found the perfect cordless phone. It stopped working after approximately 28 days. So I continue in my quest for the perfect cordless phone.

2 out of 5 stars very small handset.......2001-04-14

We have been looking for a 900 Mhz DSS phone with answeringmachine for a couple of weeks (in white only). I thought this phonewould be good, but I went to a store to check it out... and found thehandset is very small and thin. It is so small it is difficult tohold the phone between your sholder and ear. I didn't want the extraexpense of buying a headset, so we passed
