Siemens 2415 Gigaset 2.4 GHz Cordless System with Caller ID & TAD (White)

Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description
The Siemens Gigaset 2415 is a full-featured cordless phone system with a built-in digital answering machine. The 2415's digital spread technology and full 2.4 GHz operation allow it to offer voice clarity and enhanced security.

Because the Siemens Gigaset 2415 2.4 GHz cordless phone is expandable, only the base needs to be connected to a jack. You can plug a total of four handset chargers into standard power outlets, and you can operate all four handsets (Siemens model 2400) simultaneously without doing any additional wiring. For example, while you and another user talk to a third party on an outside line, two other users can talk to each other through the intercom feature on their handsets. You can customize each handset with its own ring tones, personalized directory, and extension name and number.

The 2415's full-featured answering system with 22 minutes of memory adds to its versatility. The machine records messages digitally, so there are never any tapes to fuss with, plus you can choose from four outgoing greetings. You can access messages from any Gigaset handset or remotely from any touch-tone phone.

The Siemens Gigaset 2415 includes a three-line backlit graphical display that provides caller ID/call waiting information and easy access to a call log and all other system features. The handset design includes headset jacks for hands-free use and internal antennas to protect them against damage. This phone comes with a one-year warranty.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Poor system with a nice design.......2006-02-23

I wrote a more detailed review on the 2400 handsets since I don't know if its was the base unit, the expandable handsets or both, but this phone system is nothing but problems after 9 months. Went from great to junk in a very short time the the amount of money I spent on it. Poor sound quality after a while, handsets couldn't find the base, and customer support was very poor. Just about everything fell flat on this system.
The digital answering systems is generic with only 22 minutes and no way to *easily* tell how many calls you received.

1 out of 5 stars The base is great, but those hansets are awful.......2005-01-24

I lived with this system for about a year, and it was a tremendous struggle. The base unit seemed fine, but as many others have noted, the handsets (also sold separately as Gigaset 2400) are really terrible. For very expensive pieces of equipment they are very unreliable, and the company doesn't seem very interested in helping. In other words, the customer service is really bad. I was very interested initially because the handset is one of the few powered by rechargeable AA batteries instead of a proprietary pack, which saves a ton of money and hassles. In the end, this turned out to be one of the few things I could say good about the handset.

I am VERY impressed with the feature set, but the execution is just awful. What a shame- this system had the potential to be a real dominant product instead of simply a pioneer for the multihandset concept

I gave up eventually and went with a Panasonic Multitalk system- MUCH better- see my review

5 out of 5 stars get one before it's too late!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2004-07-02

i bought this phone 3 years ago and loved it.wonderful german design.very european.handset comfortable to hold and when touching the ear.(some other phones are painful)the sound is clean and solid.(compared to panasonic)120 name directory.AA batteries is very convenient to replace.then i saw the newer siemens,4015 and 4215.
i loved the 2415 so much that i went and bought both the 4015 and 4215.what i found different!!!
contrary to some, describing those new ones as nice looking,i see them very generic design, even though they are made in germany.the 2415 is made in usa,but has an unmistakeable german look.as german as a mercedes.
the sound of 2415 is far superior and cleaner.the 4015 and 4215 sound definitely cheaper.
the 4215 is meant to be inside your palm.this does not make it more comfortable.please siemens!they even make smaller phones.
speaker phone on the 4215 as well on other brands i tried is a joke.it cuts off when you move the phone around!i will not consider a speaker phone feature at this time.
the 2415 is solid color, the 4015 and 4215 are painted.they will peel through usage and look ugly.not the 2415 the color is solid through.
my advice!!!!
run and buy the 2415 before it's too late.
they are the real german siemens .
and for all who gave this model a bad review.i wonder if they did it just to harm siemens.
for me i just compared 3 different siemens.and the 2415 is a classic.

2 out of 5 stars Lot of Problems.......2004-06-12

Siemens is a company with a great reputation for hi end equipment, but this phone system is a bad product. On the positive side, the features and functionality of the whole base station idea are fantastic. On the negative side: 2.4 GHz is notorious for microwave interference (I can attest to this), the range was no more than my old 900MHz, callers would daily complain of my voice "digitizing" or "strobing" to the point where I had to get on a hard line phone, the handset is too thin to attempt to cradle between your head and neck. Customer service is commendable, but I sent back every phone including the base set once and am still having problems. Don't buy this phone system.

1 out of 5 stars Unreliable phone.......2004-05-16

I had the same problems as everyone else. Pretty much out of the box, nobody could understand me b/c it was very garbled. I sent the almost new phone back to siemens and they gave me a very used refurbished one that has similar problems. On the other side, the answering machine, once figured out, had very good sound quality. Overall a big waste of money.

2 out of 5 stars Class action lawsuit worthy.......2002-11-26

My fiancee bought this for me a year and 1/2 ago for my home office. Too bad we invested a few hundred dollars in extra handsets with most of them sounding underwater.

How depressing!

1 out of 5 stars Horrible Product.......2002-11-06

I have purchased this product with three additional handsets. Currently, I have one handset left, and the base/handset left. The handset that I keep on the base does not show incoming calls anymore. This all happened within two years. The other handsets just died. They would not hold a charge, even with new batteries. They would get hot, and just die. It's a shame, because when these phones worked, I enjoyed the fetures very much. For the price I paid, it should have lasted longer than that. In fairness, the answering machine works well, but what good is it without the handsets? Also, when I'm on the remaining handsets, it sounds like I'm calling from a chopper. Popping, and cracking.

I would really hope that no one wastes their money on this product. Siemens just shouldn't be in this market.

2 out of 5 stars Keep the headset, throw away the base.......2002-06-20

If you haven't noticed this phone as a whole [...stinks], however the headset is good and works well with the working base stations. So get this one, and chunk the base, and you have a cheap replacement head set. Oh be sure to replace the NiCd batteries with NiMH ones. The same headset alone costs $149, this is the same one but only cost $49.99.

1 out of 5 stars BUYER BEWARE!!! This is an AWEFUL Product........2002-06-07

I am writing this review because I purchased this product about a year ago with an additional handset and I finally just had to buy an entire new Uniden system because of the problems with this System. I experienced all of the problems listed in the various reviews... People constantly saying "I cannot hear you" even though you can hear them. This problem started after 6 months of ok use. One handset went out in the first month of use. We sent it back to Siemens and they replaced it with a "Refurbished" handset. My guess is the refurbished unit was a handset sent back to them that they fixed and sent back out to us. This was an aweful experience. I really liked the design and the concept and even though many reviews said there were problems I purchased it anyway. That was my fault and my mistake. I urge you not to make the same mistake as I did. Because the phone (and the headache) is in my garbage. Unfortunately for me this is not a cheap phone system and it is totally not worth taking the chance of buying it because it looks cool.

1 out of 5 stars Utter Piece of Junk.......2002-05-23

I have one of these, even invested in an extra handset. If you enjoy hearing people whom you are calling constantly remarking, "I can't hear you, you're breaking up," this is the phone for you. I've replaced batteries, moved the base station, researched the instructions, etc. My conclusion is that Siemens is an extremely [bad] brand on which I will never waste money again. Also that 2.4ghz is virtually pure hype, a con designed to extract a few more dinero from those who hope to benefit from an upgrade.
