We've had several Uniden phones, and found them to be very robust and clear. This model is no exception - a good buy.

Too loud.......2006-10-11

Over the past 6 years, I have only owned Uniden home phones. You would think I have learned my lesson, but apparently not. The first one lasted for 3 years and then randomly stopped charging. We bought a new battery and put that in, but then it just died about a month later.
So I bought the top of the line super fancy model, and that died within a month. I contacted the warentee department and since I lived in Bermuda at the time, they wanted no part in helping me.

Now that I am back in the US, I bought this phone that the review is on, and it has pros and cons - but I think there is one negative point that trumps all other points: it is TOO LOUD.
There is a volume control on it, and even turned all of the way down, it still sounds like someone is SCREAMING in your ear. You can actually set the phone down on the lowest setting and use it like a speakerphone it is so loud.
At first I was going to put up with it - but after a month of it and the splitting headaches that any usage of this phone casues... I'm going to have to toss it and get something else.

On the good side, it is inexpensive and other than the volume issue, seems to be a decent phone.

I wanted a 900 mhz phone instead of the very small 5.8 ghz phones. I have wireless network and it works just fine. If your looking for an above average 900 mhz phone this phone is just great.

unbelievably good value.......2006-08-24

I can't imagine what caused all the negative reviews on this site. After giving up on several other phones, including Uniden's own 5.8GHz phone whose signal won't penetrate even a single wall, I finally decided to return to el-cheapo 900MHz, nice-long-wavelength analog technology and I was so glad I did! I bought one for myself and tried it, then I bought another for my daughter in college, and now I'm going to buy a third one to replace another inferior 900MHz unit I own (another brand). This unit is crystal clear, it has incredible range, and neither of the two units I bought has ever failed in the year my family has owned them. Two of them work fine in the same house (they don't interfere). And the headphone jack, which is very important to both my wife and me, works great. Most units have speakers whose impedances are mismatches for most headsets, and so you get good volume in the handset but terribly low volume in the headset. Not so with this unit - it sounds great in both the handset AND the headset (headset is NOT included). And on top of all that, the answering machine works great and it is very clear and easy to use. I couldn't recommend this unit more! And it's so inexpensive!

When I first bought this phone about six months ago, I thought I was getting a good deal, but I was wrong. The phone picked up a lot of static and the battery has a very short life, only a couple hours off the charger then it won't work.

These phones work great! I haven't had a problem with bad reception and I love the ability to have the dual handsets. I live in an apt so I don't know how they would work in a larger house but I can't imagine they wouldn't work as well as any apt's I've lived in since I've been using them.

LEss than OK for the Price.......2007-01-12

I bough thtis phone 2 years ago and they seem to work OK for a while until one of the set stopped working. I am still using the 1 set but am thinking of replacing it.

The main reason I bought this phone beacsue I didn't want the cordless to ineterfere with my Laptop WiFi. It does the job in that reagrd because this is running at 900 MHZ frequency. Howver, sometime, the one working phone, gets stuck and I don't get the dial tone. or sometimes, when I answer, I don't hear the other side. These things happen randomly.
I had hoped that the phones would last me longer, but I am soon going for the replacment. I would have given it 2 1/2 start but there is no such rating.
I consider this use and throw type of phone beacsue it is so cheap.

Phone was defective; poor customer service.......2006-08-31

I bought this phone based on Consumer Reports's recommendation, so I had high hopes for it. Unfortunately, it has given us non-stop problems, and when I contacted customer service at Uniden I was told that I must either be without my phone for about 2 weeks (two weeks in real time, 7 business days) for repairs or pay them $10.95 to receive a replacement phone in advance of shipping my defective phone back. Here are the details.


The problem with the phone

At random intervals for a period of 1-2 seconds, the outgoing voice will be replaced by static. It happens with both handsets, so the problem must be in the base. I have placed the base away from electronic devices (at least 10 ft), and it has had no effect, so I'm pretty certain the problem is with the base and not external to it. In addition, our previous 900 MHz phone did not have any interference problems of this type. Even if we are charitable and assume the problem is with something in my home that is creating the interference, I would still have to conclude that the design of the base is poor since my previous phone did not have the problem.


The problem with customer service

I called customer service twice, the second time speaking with a supervisor. In both cases I waited for about 20 minutes before my call was answered. When I explained the problem, I was told that I would have to send my phone back for repair and that it would take two weeks. I said this was not a good solution because I would be without a phone during that 2 week period and would need to buy a new phone, so why bother with the repair. I was then told I could pay $10.95 for an advance shipment of a replacement phone, which would allow me to ship back the defective phone after the new phone arrived. I complained that it seemed unfair for me to pay for the shipping since they would have shipped the repaired phone to me at their expense if I were willing to go for two weeks without a phone. (Either way, I absorb the cost of shipping the defective phone back to them, which is fine.) I was told that is their policy, period. I explained why it seemed unfair and was told that is our policy. I explained it would be better for their long term health as a company to be more fair because I would explain to others how they were treating their customers. That is their policy. So...that is their policy, and you have a choice about whether to purchase products from them. I would advise against it.

Excellent for the price.........2006-08-08

We have had our dual handset for a couple of yrs and I have been most pleased. I like that I can see who's "beeping" in when I'm on another call. I have had great reception except when I'm by my pc... The volume control feature is a plus also! I love that I can page my phones when they are missing...both will beep until you can realistically locate them.There are 4 different ringers to choose from and you can choose to turn the ringer off also. These phones are pretty much indestructible. We have dropped ours, thrown them to someone and they miss, spilled water on them and they just keep on working!

Now the negs..when I'm on another call and I get a beep and don't answer it, the call will NOT show up on the other phone.just a little frusrating sometimes. You cannot pass the call from one person to another in the home using different handsets. If my daughter answers downstairs and yells up to me to pick up the phone..I can't..she has to bring the phone she answered with to me. THAT is a big minus!

I know that somehow you can go into the phone features and actually see how long you talked on the phone to someone. I need to find out how to do this so I can check up on my daughters' time limits!

All in all, a great phone for a great price. I think I paid just under $50 a few yrs ago..don't quote me on that though! I have had $100 phones that did NOT last as long as these or the others required batteries that were difficult to find. I will continue to buy Uniden phones.

Bad Experience.......2006-08-05

This was a problem phone right out of the box. The second handset never worked. The volume gets softer and softer all by itself. A complete waste of money, I didn't even bother sending it back for a replacement. It was not worth the effort and I didn't want them selling it to someone else. BEWARE

This phone is awesome. WOrks very well, very clear voice quality, and the rocket dial is unique to Uniden Phones. Very cool. Good answering machine with enough volume and clarity to hear it from across the room. Granted you can get a 2.4 or 5.8 gHz phone for $40 and get "amazing voice quality" but this is a great economy phone for college students (myself) as well as people looking to make simple calls. I have not tested the battery life > 1 hr, but up to 1 hr it was perfect.

I have had this unit for over a yr and cannot say anything bad about it.
I have never lost a call. I have walked all over the house and outside and the call never faded. I have moved fr orig area and still in the hills can go outside. Sticking with the 900. I do need a speakphone now, so this baby will go in bedroom and plan on buying a uniden phone with speaker. good buy and dependable.

i never write these reviews but felt compelled after buying this piece of garbage. it worked ok for the first few month but then i gradually started hearing more and more crackling and interference. the straw that broke the camel's back was when my fiancee called and i couldn't hear her. when i tried to change the channel it bascially just died. i promptly spiked the phone on the floor into a million pieces. the battery never seemed to really hook up right to the unit, the caller id came up when it wanted to, and the reception was uneven.

save you money!!! buy something else.

The HS910 is comfortable and lightweight; after a few minutes, you'll forget you're wearing it. The headset attaches to the cordless handset's 2.5mm headset jack. (We tested the unit on a Uniden EXS 9110, but it fits any 2.5mm-compatible cordless phone.) Once the headset is attached, you cannot use the handset for talking or listening, but you can us it to answer incoming calls and to dial. Having a belt clip on your cordless handset is especially helpful, giving your phone complete unobtrusive portability as you walk around.

With the headset, your caller will hear your voice slightly softened compared with how you sound on the handset alone, but otherwise, the headset introduces no additional noise or distortion, and it doesn't reduce the handset's range or battery life. Excellent product while it lasts. I have yet to have one of these last for more than four months. I usually purchase a few at time so that I always have a spare for when ever it no longer works. Because the telephone is so uncomfortable to hold, a handset is a necessity and this is the best one to have. Unfortunately, it does not last for too long.

I purchased this for my wife to use when she speaks to a certain someone each night and puts the phone on the speaker system. The only probem is that my wife wears one of these all day and was not happy to wear this at home. I used it a few time when I work on my computer and need help. Sound quality is fine. If I had to do over, I might have looked into a wireless. Don't get me wrong, it works fine. It's that I don't really need it with my speaker phones.

Not all that it could be.......2007-06-24

I was disappointed with this system once getting it home.

Pros: Nice looking system, speaker phone and mute buttons on each handset, volume buttons on the side of the phone versus the face, ability to select different wallpapers and ringers for each handset, and of course the expandability.

Cons: Conversations kept cutting out, the resolution of the color LCD was not as high as I had expected, unable to name each handset, and limited ring tones and wallpapers.

Overall, this system wasn't all that it could be for the price I paid and will be returning it today. I am now looking at purchasing the Uniden CLX485 and hope that it will better suit my... wants.

Not as clear as Panasonic.......2007-04-25

Keep getting cut off. Voice not as clear as Panasonic. Answering base needs reset/pull plug time to time in order to play message. Maybe I just got bad unit!!!

Naming The Handset.......2007-03-29

I just plugged in my new I6789 Phone System and just LOVE it! Very nice so far. The only thing I can't figure out is how to name each handset? Has anybody else had the same problem? Does anybody know how to name the handset's? Currently mine are still named Handset 1, 2, 3, 4

Hopefully there is a way to name them something else!
