VTech 1922 900MHz Digital Cordless Phone with Caller ID

Product Description

Amazon.com Review
The V-Tech VT1922 digital cordless phone brings together 900 MHz digital technology, caller ID with call waiting, battery backup, memory dialing, and more. It offers high performance cordless features at an economical price.

Before testing the V-Tech VT1922, we charged it for the recommended 16 hours. An additional handset battery (not included) can be charged in the base so you will always have a spare. The sturdy handset has an intuitive keypad and rubberized buttons that are comfortable to the touch. Separate buttons control answering and hanging up, which we found unnecessary. Other basic functions include memory, redial, mute, and hold. A handset locator button on the base allows you to find your handset from anywhere within hearing distance.

Up to 20 numbers can be stored in memory. We were easily able to perform this function using the lighted, two-line LCD and the program button. To save a number, we simply entered it on the keypad and pressed the program button. The LCD asked us to choose a location and we entered a two-digit memory location (between 01 and 20) A pleasant tone confirmed our successful programming. Then to dial the number we simply pressed the memory button and entered the location number.

If you subscribe to caller ID with call waiting, these functions are also performed using the handset and LCD. Up to 50 names and numbers can be saved in caller ID memory. To view the information, press the CID button on the handset, and the LCD will display the most recent call received. Press and hold the 7 (clock) button to view the time and date of the call. Press the scroll arrows to view other calls. A delete button on the handset makes it easy to erase individual numbers, or you can hold the button for two seconds to delete the entire CID memory. The handset can be positioned faceup on the base for convenient caller identification.

In our tests of the VT1922, we were able to use the handset up to 100 feet from the base. Between 100 and 500 feet, the static was somewhat disruptive, but we were still able to maintain conversation without losing transmission. Despite the adjustable antenna, we noticed some intermittent static at close range. However, when we used the handset outside and behind walls and doors, the signal remained strong. --Emily Bakko

1 out of 5 stars NIghtmare.......2000-12-22

Breaks up, rings after all other phones stop ringing! What a nightmare-get a Panasonic 2.4 gig, this phone is horrible. I have had other Vtech's and liked them, but this one is junk!

5 out of 5 stars Ameritech sells same model........2000-12-14

I bought this phone and it works just fine. I have been all over the house with it and have not experienced any static. I have not even had to extend the antenna. I was shocked to see that Ameritech sells this very same phone! The only drawback is that you cannot see the time and date of a call unless you press the 7 key when the name and number are displayed.

4 out of 5 stars Works for me!.......2000-12-07

I have had two of these beauties and am looking for a 3rd. It is the best, yet simple, cordless with CID I have used yet.

2 out of 5 stars Nice features bad sound quality.......2000-09-16

I was prepared to exchange this phone for another - but having read the reviews it seems I'm not alone in believing the phone has poor sound quality with the handset. Call ID seems to work fine as do the two lines ... I also have a Uniden 900 Mhz spread spectrum phone that works much better - features aren't as nice on the Uniden, though.

2 out of 5 stars not recommended.......2000-08-24

I got this phone mostly for the brand name reputation of durability and for the optional headset. No problem there.

However, the phone lags behind the others in the house when a call comes in and the sound quality of the handset sound terrible. As far as caller ID, I cannot comment. I do not subscribe to that service.
