5 out of 5 stars 2 handset cordless phone.......2007-07-09

The phone arrived in a very timely manner and the sound quality is wonderful. I love having the extra handset.

5 out of 5 stars AT&T 2.4GHZ phone.......2007-06-09

Great reception even a good distance from the house. I am very happy with this new purchase.

3 out of 5 stars Okay phone .......2007-03-15

I really like the speaker phone on the phone because I don't have to go to the base. The only thing I don't like is when paging the phone both phones beeps. And if someone is on the phone in another room & ask me to pick up so we all can be on the phone I can't; I have to go in the same room as the person on the phone so we can use the speaker instead.

4 out of 5 stars Seems to work well.......2007-01-18

We're happy with the phone--it does everything it was advertised to do, the sound quality is good, etc. I don't need to mount the phone on the wall, but the wall-mount hardware looked pretty bad. The only other remark I'd have is on the call-back feature. If you miss a call, you're supposed to be able to recall the number, then hit "dial" to reach the number, but it doesn't actually work because the phone doesn't prepend a "1" before the area code. I'm conscious of this because I get frequent wrong numbers on my cell phone, probably from using a phone like this.

Bottom line--it's a good phone, and I'd buy it again.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Sleek phone - Software Bugs.......2006-09-09

- I woke up one morning to find my two cordless units with message "Searching for Base"

- On the base unit, I hit the DEREGISTER ALL option

- The display unit of the answering base shows the following message:
E 2562
M51 S51 FDXI
May 15, 2002
14:12:06

All keys are totally dysfunctional. I tried plugging into a different location after 5 minute gaps and all other options.

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE:
They asked me to try plugging the answering machine base into other locations around the house after removing batteries from the cordless units.

Unfortunately I barely ran out of warranty to take advantage of the warranty replacement process.

Please advise if there is a fix for this.

I obviously misspent $199 + $75 for the second cordless unit.

2 out of 5 stars Expected better from AT&T.......2006-04-25

I actually find the sound quality and range pretty good, but I think the system is designed poorly. I can't tell you how many times I have been on the phone and wanted to scroll through my caller ID to get a number for someone I was talking to. No dice, it won't do that. There are a number of issues like that. I can't program it to prefer line 2 to make calls. You may think this is a not a big deal, except I don't like to reveal the line 1 number to my clients via there caller ID. So there went my private line.

Also the belt clip is worthless and after what seemed like hours on the customer support line they want to charge me $5.00 to replace it even though the phone is still under warranty. I'll try a different brand next time.

1 out of 5 stars Complete piece of S***.......2006-04-24

Sound quality is poor more than about 20' away. I had to the move the base to the center of the house (rather than the kitchen where we wanted it) to get it to work at all. I had to return a unit. Now I'm stuck with it sort of working but with clicky-popy sound. Don't buy this system.

3 out of 5 stars hmm.. so-so.......2006-02-25

For the price I paid ($145) this phone has a looot of shortcomings. For e.g., if you pick up the receiver, there's no way to press the redial option. The redial option is only available on the screen when the phone is on the hook. Secondly, if line 2 rings and you pick the phone up, it goes into line 1. Instead of line 2 (duh..)
The cordless has a very short battery life has to be constantly recharged!!
Also, if you have a power cut, both phones don't work. I bought this one thinking at least the corded phone would work (GE has a model like that) but unfortunately, I was mistaken.

It's a good phone all-in-all, and serves the purpose of a 2-line corded + cordless set, but it's overpriced. Next time I'm sticking with GE!

1 out of 5 stars Answering machine problems, miserable customer support.......2006-01-19

That's right, ANOTHER review that the answering machine hangs up in mid-call. Some days it's fine, most days it's not. This is the SECOND unit I've tried; BOTH units began exhibiting this problem after a month or so of service. It seems the problem begins as soon as you throw the packages away...

Additionally; -the handsets don't easily register button presses, which makes dialing many digits difficult. -the ink labels on the chrome buttons have worn off (one of them being "OFF"!). -line 1/line 2 selection on the base unit is not intuitive. This "feature" doesn't add any special function and is counter-intuitive. -the power button blinks constantly, reminding you that... wait! It doesn't remind you of ANYTHING. -the handset units can't initiate a voice page to the base without someone at the base to pick it up.

Customer support: AT&T's phone systems website does not provide any telephone #'s. Additionally, AT&T recently merged with SBC. Just great, since SBC has to be one of the WORST companies in regards to customer service. It took me 6 phone calls, which included at least 10 transfers, to find out they didn't know anything about the phone or whom to call for support. It took 45 minutes for me to learn that everyone at SBC/AT&T is clueless. One rep even said, "We make desk phones? Really?".

Sadly, it is obvious that AT&T & SBC don't rate customer support, satisfaction or product reliability very highly. What type of QA department overlooks a phone/answering machine that DOESN'T RECORD MESSAGES????

Good product, but because of placement of on/off button you can accidentally hang up during your call when handset is cradled between ear and shoulder and you are using your hands for some other task...

4 out of 5 stars AT&T phone.......2007-02-11

I am very pleased with this product, however, the only negative I would say about it is that you can be checking your messages on the answering machine and if someone calls in, it stops you from hearing you messages. Other than this, I really like the phones.

    Amazon.com Product Description

Affordably build your home telecommunications network with the 2.4 GHz Vtech VT-T2435 phone system, which comes with two handsets (one base station and one extra handset with charger, which doesn't require connection to a phone jack). It provides caller ID/call waiting information when subscribed to service. Other features include: Its 2.4 GHz analog transmission rate provides better reception than 900 MHz models, due to less "traffic" in the radio band, noise and minimal interference. If youÕre looking to add a cordless phone to an environment where there are one or more 900 MHz phones, a 2.4 GHz model would be a wise investment.

    5 out of 5 stars Great phone.......2007-03-26

We have had this phone for over 6 months now and it is still doing a great job. One of the phones is in our home office and the other is in our garage. Reception is great on both.

    2 out of 5 stars Junk.......2007-01-04

The extended handset has so much static I can't use it. The main unit isn't much better.

    1 out of 5 stars poor quality.......2006-12-06

I wish Amazon offered a "0 stars" rating......

I've bought many VTech phones in the past and had great luck with them, so when I was looking for a dual handset, I specifically looked for a VTech. I bought this phone in September of 2005. When it started malfunctioning a few months later, I contacted VTech and they replaced it with a refurbished phone. When that phone started malfunctioning after a few months, I contacted VTech and they replaced it with a new phone. That phone started malfunctioning a few days ago. To sum up, I've had three sets malfunction in less than 15 months.

All three phones malfunctioned in the same manner. When the handset was in the main charging dock, the light would indicate that it was being charged, but it wasn't. When I remove the handset from the dock, the charging light stayed lit even though it wasn't charging anything. I think I paid $40 for this phone originally, and I don't recall how much I spent in shipping charges mailing the stupid things from Michigan to Texas twice.

    This VTech model is TRASH!

    1 out of 5 stars Bought two sets...both died w/i 3 months.......2006-03-17

I purchased 2 sets of this phone. One handset of each set died within 3 months. I tried new batteries but that didn't help. These phones are not worth buying at any price.

    3 out of 5 stars It's okay, but...........2006-01-15

I had the same problem with the headset jack cover falling off as reported in an earlier review. Also, I wasn't impressed with the sound quality. Everyone sounded a little fuzzy. But, I guess they are pretty good phones for the lower price range variety.

4 out of 5 stars INEXPENSIVE CORDLESS WITH VERY USEFUL FEATURES & USER FRIENDLY TOO!.......2006-10-12

IN A NUTSHELL: FULL FEATURED LIGHTWEIGHT PHONE THAT'S LIGHT IN PRICE TOO!

I bought this phone at Sam's last month to replace an old General Electric cordless that we had all been very fond of. We had the GE phone for about 8 years and it cost about $40. For that, we had caller ID and a 900 GHz cordless phone, complete with battery and charger. The only nice extra was that the bottoms lit up when pressed and stayed lit for 10 seconds and it had a display that showed the number being called, redialed or the incoming number. In essence, we wanted at least that much in our new phone.

Well, this model E2125 from AT&T does all that and much more.

-----> WHAT WE LIKE MOST ABOUT THIS PHONE <-----

    * - Very Audible whether on speaker or normal, with Adjustable Volumes

    * - THE SPEAKERPHONE IN THE HANDSET WHILE LIGHTWEIGHT IS EXCELLENT -- HANDY & AUDIBLE TOO!

    * - This 2.4 Ghz model has a MUCH LONGER RANGE than the 900 MHz models, in this case we can go about 800-1,000 feet from our house and still use the phone compared to 50-150 feet. This was an important consideration for us as we sometimes take the phone outside and our yard is several acres.

*- FEATURES - such as; a choice of ringer Volumes and Tones, Directory, Call-Log, Call-Waiting + Caller ID.

-----> WHAT WE DON'T LIKE ABOUT THE PHONE <-----

*- THE ANSWERING MACHING, basically enough has been said about it by others, but we bought this phone without needing it to be an answering machine.

DECEMBER 11, 2006 UPDATE REGARDING THE ANSWERING MACHINE:

Nevertheless, we do use the answering machine and although it is far from an ideal answering machine it does work as an integrated system with the phone, without any tape and without us having to create our own message: both features are to our liking. Since originally setting the phone up, several months ago, we have become more accustomed to using the answering machine and have learned the ins-and-outs of using it more easily and well.

BOTTOM LINE: SO FAR WE ARE ALL HAPPY CAMPERS

We were all very pleasantly surprised by most everything about this phone so how much more could we reasonably expect in this price range.

[I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY PRODUCT OR COMPANY]

5 out of 5 stars Nice! But I Own The E-2115!.......2006-09-30

I have the exact same handset, but not the exact same base! My base has NO answering system! I was looking for a new cordless telephone to replace the 3-year-old GE corded telephone in my kitchen. I happended to be at my local Sears one night, and saw it. So, I thought I'd give it a try. I LOVE IT! I will keep it until it breaks!

    3 out of 5 stars Decent multi-function telephone.......2006-03-25

I bought this set as a replacement for my AT&T 1825 corded telephone with answering machine. (The replacement was because something went wrong with the answering machine function - I now use it in the office because of the great speaker-phone function, and it is always good to have a POTS handset for when the power goes out.) Overall I have been very satisfied with the installation and operation of the phone. I have not had complaints from callers when I use the cordless handset - so as far as I can tell that piece works well. The playback of messages (operation and sound quality) is fine.

The setup takes some getting used to. You can figure out how to setup the answering machine without reference to the manual - if you have patience.

The handset setup is OK - changing things like ring tones and volume is straightforward. Maintaining the phone list from the Caller ID list, however, is pretty much useful in my service area -- all calls from my phone MUST be 11 digits (preceded by "1") and ten digit numbers are stored in CID/Call Lists with no way to insert a digit at the beginning of the string, so I end up not using that feature to load numbers (since I need to key in the whole string anyway). I haven't tested the handset range, but it works everywhere in a 2-story Colonial.

It is different from the AT&T 1825 in that the speaker-phone is in the handset (of course), the handset has the Caller ID/number lists and there is a socket for a headset (not included).

I am satisfied enough not to look for a replacement.

1 out of 5 stars Horrible Answering Machine Audio.......2005-06-22

It's a shame, I like everything about this phone except the answering machine audio quality. It's a garbled mess. I don't know what AT&T was thinking. They made a good phone with nice features, user-friendly but then installed the worst answering machine. I wish I had read the reviews before buying. This unit lured me in with the price when I did a side-by-side visual comparison at the store. It looked better than anything else in its price category. The phone is laid out nicely and easy to use. I like the handset speaker, too, so I can set the phone down and talk. Caller ID, call log, and directory and all work fine. But I was appalled the first time I heard the sound quality of a recorded message. Horrible! A good phone with a really bad answerer.

1 out of 5 stars worst phone ever.......2005-03-10

The answering machine playback quality is horrible. Playing back messages is not user friendly.

4 out of 5 stars Great for the price.......2007-05-12

Purchased for another family member. They are pleased with the phone and especially having two handsets.

          3 out of 5 stars Not exactly a bargain.......2007-04-25

The style of the answering machine and additional units are nice and they don't take up a lot of room. The buttons do not feel cheap like many other brands either. Two issues though. If you pre-dial a number or use the speed dial option, when you hit the phone(connect)button you are lucky if the call goes through. This is probably because it only gives short tone burst that are not long enough to be recognized. The second issue is that there is no battery backup if power goes out. You lose your messages and configurations on the main base.

          3 out of 5 stars AT & T cordless review.......2007-03-26

After reading glowing reviews in Consumer Reports I thought I'd love this phone. It works fine, but lacks features in my prior AT & T phone, such as deleting your in-box with one button, instead of one at a time; the outgoing pulse signal is tedious and slow and the ring tones ALL suck. For the price it does what it needs to, so I'll not quibble.

5 out of 5 stars Telephone answering system.......2007-03-11

Excellent product, arrived fast. Just what I needed. This is a great product.

4 out of 5 stars For the money, great phone..........2007-02-20

My favorite feature of this phone has to be the speaker phone. I know there are others out there but this is my first. The menus seem pretty intuitive and I'm glad the buttons light up (another must have feature for a cordless). The answering machine could be better... it does not have the best sound quality. With all this phone's bells and whistles I have not had an issue with battery life yet. One minor downside is that the body is made of a cheap plastic that I've already managed to scuff up a bit, but other than that it's a great cordless... especially for the money!
