No proprietary phones are needed. This unit can be expanded to 8 lines and 32 extensions with 2 different optional upgrade cards. Extension rj-11 jacks 600-623 are already numbered. Just plug in the phones and telephone lines. Transfer calls by dialing flash + extension number or hold calls by dialing flash + 1. The system can use regular telephone lines or also Vonage lines. The system can flash the outside line to use 3 way calling and 3 way transfer features of the line(s). A music On hold melody is already installed and there is also a mini jack to plug in our optional DP-2000 music On Hold Player / Recorder.
