It's great while it works..........2007-07-05

...and then it falls apart. Bought the unit, had it less than a month, had it replaced and still no joy. The basic problem is that while the sound quality on hearing your caller was always superb, the volume with which the other party can hear you worked fine then diminished to a whisper--and no amount of fiddling with the microphone position or warranty repair could correct the problem. Additionally, the ergonomics of the unit (considering that the mic has to be practically IN your mouth to work when it worked at all) are very wonky. In the first few weeks while the unit was working properly, I still ended up wrapping the cord up and over my other ear (as I used to do with my freebie earbud hands free) to stabilize it. Overall I can say that I am a HUGE supporter of the noise cancelling technology they are pioneering, but that this product is an equally HUGE disappointment.

Phenomenal headset.......2006-09-13

I've used this headset for about a year, full time, on my one and only phone (a cell phone). I have tried about 9 other headsets, wired and bluetooth, incluidng Motorolas, Plantronics, etc, and found they all either didn't filter noise, or chopped up the sound quality with their electronic filtering. I should say that I travel a fair bit and used to drive a convertible, so sound quality and noise filtering are big deals for me.

TheBoom is the only headset that meets and exceeds my standards for sound quality, both incoming and outgoing. People regularly think I am calling from my office phone even though I was speaking on my cell from my car. Unlike all other noise-cancelling phones, which use electronics to modify the sound signal (and thus make your voice sound metallic or choppy), this uses military-based technology to pick up only sound coming from near the front of the microphone. This means that your voice is crystal clear and natural, while sounds from farther away are simply not picked up. See their website for their sound demo of the mic used in the Apache helecopters. However it works, the sound quality is amazing.

I had one problem with my headset's connection after 9 months of use, and the manufacturer promptly replaced it without question. Also, once in a while I sound soft to the person on the other end of the line, which is a reminder to move the mic ~1 inch from my mouth. Problem solved.

Summary: TheBoom is the best sounding headset, period, and is worth every penny.
