top notch storage device - i was able to get all my CDs on it, and dumped all my photos in there too (no mean feat). It still has 75% of the space free, so I'm converting over all my cassettes. Pair this with a good set of speakers, like the Klipsch dock, and you can ditch your space-hogging media and dinosaur sound system. bonus features: storing all my media online for backup, and the ability to plug in other earpieces besides the buds it comes with.

Still can't figure out if it has an off button, tho.. guess i have to read the directions.

First off I want to say I love the Black, it is great so much better than the white IMO, I know people have complained about how the black shows scratches but I would rather take the sexiness of the black over the ability to possible hide some scratches and since I am going to be getting a skin as soon as I can so I know I will not be having too many scratches. It does come with this little pouch thing, it reminds me of a moccasin, and it fits the ipod like a glove, it does a great job even if you don't want to spend money on a skin. It is also much thinner than a 3rd gen, which is what I had before, so my old skin does not work.

I started it up changed my settings to where I like them, and plugged it into my computer. Moving my songs over took longer than I thought it would granted I have a lot of songs 3000+ but I also think it might be the USB connection, even though firewire 400 and USB2 are about the same firewire with it's higher sustained rate is better for huge file systems or thats always been my thought. Anyway after moving my music and some videos and I plugged it into my TV to see just how well I could play the video.

Overall it was pretty good, I only had trailers sitting around that were in the right format but if you have quicktime pro or iMovie HD or final cut, you can convert pretty much any video but it might take some time for a full movie.

One bad thing I found out right off and I was hopping would not be the case is this is a totally redesigned ipod and as such almost all past generation accessories will not work, itrip, italk, iremote, all do not work because they need the two plugs on the top where this new ipod only has one on the right side. Something that does work is my wall charger, even though it is firewire with a plug it still charges which is nice. Oh yeah the Belkin Tunecast II FM transmitter works because it only has one plug.

For music I got about 12.4 hours with the volume at 75% maybe a little higher, I bet I could get more if I lowered the volume but I was on a plane and stuff when testing it so I had to keep it up that high. I will be testing it in everyday conditions with the volume around 50%....For video it lasted 140 minutes which is about 2.2 hours the volume was as high as it could get because I was on a plane. I tried it for about 5 of those minutes in just a regular room with people and I only had to have the volume at 45%. Pretty sure if you kept it at that you might be able to get 3 hours.

One thing I do miss from my 3rd gen is the illuminated buttons.....maybe Apple could make the scroll wheel illuminated or something for the 6th Gen. Still it is an amazing little device and I love it. I took some pictures if anyone wants to see click on the links below:

This is my 3rd Ipod and by far my favorite. I quickly transferred over 5000 songs and videos to it and then put 9 movies on it and still have TONS of room. Who needs a portable DVD player on a plane when you have this. Just make sure you have the battery charged full before you get on the plane because one movie almost uses the entire battery life. And if you dont have good eyesight you may want to watch a movie on something else. Oh and download the full screen version of the movie so it takes up the entire screen.

This is my first MP3 player and I love it. I am giving it four stars only because the battery isn't removable. I only use it for music and don't really care about video or any other uses. I have a lot of music and am up to 9800 or so songs and it is a little over half way full!
If you have a ton of music and video, this is the product for you.
The Creative Zen 60gb player is getting great reviews on C-Net and other sources. I was torn between these players and went for the 80 gigs!

Con's:
No voice recorder.
No FM tuner (but who needs a radio when they have over 9000 songs or
more?!)
Scratches easily.

Good audio quality (the most important feature)

Good battery life (read the other reviews for information on this)
iTunes imports CDs faster and smoother than musicmatch jukebox.(Yes, I have a PC and have no problems with iTunes).

Bottom line is that you get a huge music library in the palm of your hand! Just hook it up to your hi fi with a y cable and you don't have to search for your CD's or tapes to play them! Just search throught the easy to use menu and you are in music bliss for hours! If you are like me and hate hearing the same songs over and over, this is for you.

I got this for my hubby for father's day to go with his new ipod. He keeps the sleeve around his ipod all of the time and it adds a nice level of protection- definitely more durable than just the plain tiny ipod. It is super easy to connect to the arm band.

This product is easy to used and sit comfortably on your arm. It helps protect your ipod especially during intense excercises. I had a bit of a problem placing the screen protector without having bubbles on the film which prevents visibility. Overall, this product is worth the buck when looking for ipod accesories.

This iPod replaces a hard disk mp3 player of another brand. I'm new to the iPod brand, but I've found this model to live up to the hype. Sleek design, easy to use (even in converting my WMA library to iTunes), and good performance. So far I'm very glad I made the switch to the iPod product line.

Amazing Storage Capacity.......2007-06-27

This review is for those of you that have not yet made the I-iPod plunge. I was a bot late to the game myself on this one. My children, and their friends, really led the way on this. Now that I am finally all in, I cannot say enough about the various uses of the iPod, and its overall ease of use. In addition to being able to download the latest and greatest from iTunes, you can also put any of your own existing CD collection on your iPod. I personally take advantage of the many available books on CD. I have downloaded audio books from various sites on the Internet. In fact, I do not have an iPod/MP3 adaptor in my car, so I purchased a device that allows me to play my iPod via the radio. This really is an incredible device that is well-worth the price. To not have an iPod in today's day and age is a bit like not having a VCR or Microwave in the 80's. By the way, putting songs/books on your iPod is very intuitive. Once or twice will teach you how to do it. If you have a problem, just have a teenager give you a brief class. This is a 5 star product.

Getting started was a little difficult, but I finally managed to start downloading music and podcasts.
I was very disappointed that I cannot download eAudio books from Net Library because Apple does not offer the kind of copyright protection that libraries require. The library told me that they had repeatedfly tried to negotiate these features with Apple, but had no success.
The biggest disappointment, however, was that contrary to the iPod advertisements, you cannot sync calendars from Outlook. Outlook Contacts can be synced, but not calendars. I managed to find a support number at Apple, and they told me that although their manual gives very specific directions about how to sync Outlook Calendars, they do not support this feature....so, basically, you can't do it, and they don't care if the advertisements and the manual lie.

My acclaim for the Apple iPod 8gb.......2007-06-26

I owned an ipod mini but the battery life began to slack, and I didn't want to pay $50.00 to have it replaced when I could just purchase a new ipod. I knew I needed something new, but I also wanted to improve my ipod somehow. I decided to purchase the nano with twice as much room; I know I made the right decision. I own many CD's, and it was relatively easy to fill my 4 gigabyte mini up to capacity, but with this 8 gigabyte nano? It's not as simple. I enjoy being able to add two or three songs to my ipod everyday.

I'm impressed with this second generation iPod nano. The battery life is definitely wonderful; Apple boasts that the battery life is about 24 hours, and although I don't know how accurate that is, I do know that is lasts twice as long as my iPod mini. I picked up on a few improvements with the nano as well. When you have 1,000+ songs on your mp3 player, looking for one song can be tedious, however, iPod made this task easier by providing a transparent letter in the background to indicate which letter of the alphabet you are on. You can also search for your music by artist, genre, album, among other options.

Apple's come equipped with something that is very useful to me: the "hold" button. I can sometimes be careless and nonchalant with my gadgets, and my iPod may accidently turn on, but since iPod owners can switch to the "hold" button, I don't have that problem.

This new iPod is significantly smaller than the mini, which, for me, serves as a gift as well as a curse. The nano is so tiny that it can easily slip out of your hands, and it probably easy to misplace. Also, the only color the 8gb comes in is black, and because black is so common, it's easy for the nano to be camouflaged, which would make is even more difficult to locate if you were looking for it around the house. Also, where is the FM radio? The radio isn't a big deal to me, but if Apple really wanted to transcend this product, they would privilege buyers with this amenity.

This is the most popular mp3 player, and I see why. It's a great item to have if you exercise, if you are a lot of boring places, or if you like music to be at your fingertips all the time. I highly recommend it.

I have had my 8GB iPod for nearly a year. I was one of the first to purchase it last year when it first came out.

This product is perfect. You hardly ever have to charge it, it's durable (flash memory), and it is easy to use. If you've never used and iPod or iTunes, of course there is going to be a learning curve as with anything, but once you understand the general functions, you are set.

There is a reason Apple has a substantial market share over any other MP3, and that is because it is the best all around player available.

OK at first, but now they are trash..........2007-07-09

I got these for Christmas and initially liked them as they were more comfortable than the ear buds that came with the iPod, however, I noticed a couple of problems. First, the rubber tips come off very easily, second, after about two months there was static in the right ear piece at times, and finally, after six months the right ear piece quit working completely and I had to throw them away. The problem may be linked to the very thin wire used so my next pair of ear buds will definitely be much more substantial.

Pretty good product. Blocks outside noise, good sound quality. The only reason it did not get four stars is that the line noise is terrible in it. Even when just walking the line noise is unbearable if the cord so much as even touches my shirt, which makes it very difficult to run with.

I seem to always be disappointed by the headphones I get. The better the sound quality, the bigger they are, and not many people want to lug the big ones around with their ipod. Others are smaller and have great sound quality but are really uncomfortable or just too expensive. I usually don't go with ear buds because they never fit right and just fall out of your ear.

These headphones seem to work on every level. They're small, they're VERY comfortable (I actually fell asleep with them in my ears last night), they don't fall out of my ears, and the sound quality is good. How good? I'm no audio nerd, so others are better to tell you about that, but the sound quality is rich and full. I would have been fine with all that, but I noticed that the noise reduction works pretty well too.

For $20, you really can't go wrong with these. I have one for my laptop, and I'm going to get another set for my iPod.

good for a few months.......2007-07-05

I got these 4-5 months ago. At first I was in love with them. It fit well and the sound was great. It also reduces a lot of outside noise. I used them pretty frequently - during my commute to and from work as well as the gym. A few weeks ago the sound started to fade and the right ear piece started to crackle. Now the right piece is completely shot and I can only hear out of one side. I just trashed them. I'm going to try the v-moda's next. I hope I get more luck with these.

Reduce noise, but sub par sound.......2007-07-03

They do a good job at reducing outside noise, but the sound quality is less than I expected for the money. The chord is 4 1/2 feet long which is a big plus.

Ill go ahead and give the Canon rebel Xti i ordered off of here a 5 star, ive been looking at this SLR for quite soem time now for my first DSLR and i finally went ahead and bought it. great camera overall.

Shipping...ill give that a 5, i recieved the package when i t was suposed to some, but packaging a 2, the canon rebel box was packaged inside another box with hardly no cushioning whatsoever so it rattled around if you tilted the box. horrible packaging and thats somthing amazin should work on.

With 3 weeks under my belt with my new Canon Digital rebel XTi 10.1 MP SLR, I can only say I remain thrilled and happy with my purchase. With my last quality camera purchase being a Canon SLR in the early 70's, I have been blown away by how "smart" this camera is and how easy to use. One can use it in automatic mode and not worry about the technical aspects, or go deep into manual customized photography. This camera is a great deal, and everything as advertised. First digital slr, still getting used to the ISO but like the easy usability. Great for a amateur like myself. Only drawback is not sure how durable the camera is, seems a little dainty. Looking forward to have some fun with all the features.

I really enjoy my Zune. Being in the army and at the same time overseas this is a great investment its 30GB of music that i don't have to keep on my laptop and its so cool. everyone at work has one we share music at work with the wireless feature. Great to workout with me and my wife have one us being gym rats and all. I'm no microsoft or apple fanboy. I used to have an ipod (just like nearly everybody else on the planet), but now, I've changed to the Zune, and I couldn't be happier.
Also, just for random tidbit, the Zune software has vastly been improved since the Zune was first released. It's a lot more stable, and runs very smoothly on my XP Pro machine.

Pros:
Large clear screen
Feels great in hand
Superior sound quality to ANY iPod on the market.
Great UI
No more irritating click wheel. The d-pad buttons work great along with the interface.
Custom wallpapers

Cons:
Very limited video format playback (wmv)
Meta Tag support on Zune software is very janky. Sometimes the Meta Tags won't even be edited to what you want.
No gapless/lossless at the moment (Might be in later with a firmware update?)

The Zune Rocks it's so much better than Ipod Video. The software on the computer takes some getting used to, but after a day or two it's easy to get the hang of. The Firmware on the Zune itself is amazing,and totally blows Ipods user interface a way. ZUNE ROCKS!!!

The zune itself is great, but since it's microsoft I was afraid something would not work. Quickly it got me right... If you conect the ZUNE to a PC with windows XP in any language but English it won't work, so watch out latins or Canadian people, if you don't have Windows XP in English you will have a problem. I can't believe the "Microsoft Zune" has imcompatibility issues with "Microsoft Windows", and Microsoft hasn't published any solution, any patch, anything..

If you are looking for a reasonable alternative to the overpriced, over-hyped ipod. your search is over. For about 160 bucks you get a sleek music player that hold 8 gigs of music[expandable to 10gigs], FM radio,voice recorder and can display pictures and video. I have had my e280 for about 6 months and not a single problem. I bought a 2g micro sd card from amazon for about 25 bucks to bring the total memory to 10Gig. The biggest feature that nailed my decision to buy the e280 was the user replacable battery, which cost about 15bucks. With all ipods you must send in the unit and spend close to 100bucks to replace the battery. This is a great mp3 player, especially for those who don't want to jump on the iPod bandwagon. Only have two complaints so far, which is why I didn't rate this a 5 star item.

First, you cannot raise the volume output on the player when hooked into your car audio via FM tuner.

But my major complaint is the design of the scroll wheel. It is just high enough and the surrounding buttons are just small enough, that pressing the buttons are not as easy as they should be for people with larger fingers.

All in all, a very good mp3 player. Very glad that someone other than Apple has released a high capacity media player. Finally!!

This is perfect for my daily commutes to and from work. I also use it in the car with a line-in cable. The 8 gigs fills up fast, but the size of this makes it better for my needs than a larger hard drive mp3 player. You can also use the .wma format converting your cds from Windows Media Player, which uses less size than mp3 files of comparable quality. There is an expansion slot if you really wanted a few extra gigs, which I have not tried yet.

Make sure you go online and download the firmware updater from the Sansa site, otherwise you will not get updates to the system software.

The FM radio is an excellent feature. I find myself listening to it more than I thought I would. There is also a voice/FM recorder. It is a great alternative to an iPod! If you use the MSC mode, you can treat the player like any flash drive, and drag and drop your music files. You do have to make sure the ID tags are set up right. It took me a good deal of time to get them formatted right. (hint: name the file the track number/song name , like "03 Bird Song", and use the file properties to fill in the artist & album info).

Another great feature: customizable 5-band EQ. Set it like you want to hear it! This is an important audiophile feature, and very useful if you like listening to older recordings or bootlegs. I understand the iPod offers only preset equalizer settings. You also get two overall volume settings, "normal" and "loud", which helps when playing through the car stereo.

Overall, this player is great. It has many features lacking in the iPod line, and a better price. It did require some patience to sort out the id tagging, but overall, I am very pleased with it.

This is the 3rd one of the Sandisk MP3 players I have purchased, we love these products. My daughter who is 9 has a smaller one, and my son who is 12, a larger one and my husband has this one and everyone just loves them, they work great and are easy to use.

Kensington 33384 QuickSeekKensington 33384 QuickSeek FM Transmitter/Car Charger for iPod

I do not have this particular item, but bought the Quickseek Kensington Transmitter, instead. It is essentially this transmitter, with auto seek on the FM band and better frequency lock circuitry.

If you drive through or live in congested urban areas that have the FM band filled up, there is no bulletproof solution for you. However, the model in the link provided will at try to lock onto the best station automatically. The Kensington Quickseek model costs $15-20 more, but it gets the thumbs up for preventing driver distraction. Among the various iPod transmitters, it is the best solution for urban areas that I have found. If the link does not work, type in "Kensington 33384 QuickSeek" in the Amazon search box and take a look before you make a final decision.

Overall, I am quite pleased with the purchase. The reception is usually quite good. The only problem is with the display. In daylight, it is quite hard to read the display. Also, if your power source is in an inconvenient location, it is near impossible to read the station.

Can tune this one down to 87.9 (or lower).......2007-06-29

I bought and returned two other digital FM transmitters for my iPod before discovered this one. The "easter egg" that allows you to tune down to 87.9 or 87.5 (just tune up from 107.9 while holding down the two right set buttons - don't try this while driving!) is a lifesaver in an urban area with a crowded FM band. The ones that are tuneable from 88.1 up really suck here in Atlanta.

I have had no problems with this FM transmitter/battery charger. It provides essentially static and distortion free audio quality. One benefit is that the FM station is muted when the iPod is turned off, so you don't get a blast of static. My car (Honda Accord) has an antenna integrated into the rear window, and I had no trouble with FM reception.

I previously used the Griffin iTrip (which plugs into the earphone plug), and having been quite disappointed with it, I can say that this technology is a major improvement.

In summary, this is a good unit that works well.

BTW I have not been able to activate this "easter egg" which supposedly allows you to transmit at 87.7 MHz... no big deal, because there's some station here that broadcasts on the same frequency
