Good start.......2007-06-14

I got this CB a month ago for my LandCruiser and it's been working great. I have short antenna so I'm not getting the best reception, but gets the job done. I haven't been on the highway since I got it but I can't wait for a long trip somewhere!
The only concern I have for it is that the channel changing knob sometimes skips over channels. Its showing signs that's its going to break soon, I think.
What I don't like about it is that it starts on Channel 9, no one talks on the Police Channel! I wish it had a little battery in there to remember where you were last time you turned it off, like Channel 1-9!
Otherwise, I've been having a good time showing it off to my friends and looking hip with it. Get it, bring it back! (These cell phones cost too much these days anyway)

I got this cb 'cause I'm lazy and don't want to leave my rig to find a receiver everytime I pull my 53 footer into a warehouse facility. It works fine for getting your weight on a scale and short range BS'n and that's all I was looking for. If you're looking for bells and whistles and talkin' smack with your good ol' boys this probably ain't it.

This is a powerful little radio. Using a 2" fiberglass antenna I can receive great, as well as put out a good distance. Others have written that the radio defaults to channel 9 when you turn it on, but mine always turns on to the last channel I left it at. Also, the PA is great. One feature about the PA that I noticed is that the volume knob adjusts the PA output so you don't always have to talk at full volume. Another complaint that people had was the channel selecting knob. It does tend to miss that you turned but if you're not turning the knob fast it can keep up with you. I think its just the fact that the design of continuous rotation means it doesn't really matter how many times you turn to change the channels because there is no set position for each channel on the knob.

I decided to jump on the CB bandwagon to relieve the boredom on the hour long commute to work, my route takes me along a well known trucking route through central Florida, this radio which i purchased from amazon for just over $30 coupled with a nice $37 mag mount from Radio Shack (the best they had) and I was well away....anyone new to CB it is well worth learning the lingo before you transmit...
Anyhow I have had some nice convo's with the truckers...its a great piece of equipment for any car or SUV..I am now thinking on the handheld midlands.. (get a couple so i can ditch my FRS radios! - the hassle I have had trying to hear family on FRS radios in the same store... on this CB and the nice mag mount for the car I have heard so far around 8miles and have transmitted around 4-5miles....without really trying!!)

However... sorry to burst the bubble.. only one thing i can think of which i think is a downside.. the lack of NOAA weather channels.. i mean it would mean so much more to me (especially living in hurricane hit central florida) It is great though.. CB all the way.. roll on the 1970's!! :-)

Failed in a few months.......2007-03-19

Installed it to my Nissan Xterra. First it was working fine, but after a few months the channel switching knob stopped working (twists free, but the channel number remains 1), making the whole thing kompletely useless.
