Great product, sturdier than most non-commercial radios. But be aware that if you live in a big city, there may be a ton of interference from other sources. In downtown Dallas... I only get about 0.5-1 mile range on high power channels. The most annoying thing is the "C" button that sends out a warble tone to catch other people's attention. It does that just great, but the button is where it can accidentally be pushed easily and gets bumped a lot and everyone on that channel has to listen to the warble sound. I wish there was a feature to turn it off.
