Album Description
This album contains Schubert's last 4 piano-duets, all composed in 1828, the final year of his short life. The performances reflect the convictions of the performers, Richard and John Contiguglia, that Schubert's piano-duets have more in common with Schubert's string chamber music than with his solo piano music. Consequently, their performances strive to preserve the textural and contrapuntal independence of the four hands, as would be the case with the 4 string parts in a string quartet.
