Few bands of the 1960s retained as much a sense of the roots of rock and roll as did Creedence Clearwater Revival. Their music is rife with country, rockabilly, and R&B influences, a combination that produced several hit singles--most of which are present on this collection. These include "I Heard It through the Grapevine," "Lodi," "Up Around the B ," "Who'll Stop the Rain," and of course "Bad Moon Rising." This is an excellent greatest-hits collection, and a perfect introduction to the music of a band that has been enduringly influential. --Genevieve Williams

CCR.......2007-06-28
An excellent greatist hits CD, I used a handful of songs to burn a CD with other related style of music.
great stuff.......2007-06-27
listening to this CD makes you realize how great john fogerty was back in the day. great songs, great sound.
Gets me going in the morning.......2007-06-27
I've been listening to this CD for 2 weeks in my car on the way to work.
Soundtrack of an era.......2007-06-15
This is an excellent compilation of CCR's tunes from the late 60s, early 70s. There's a reason why Credence tunes kept popping up in movies and commercials. It's great music and evocative of the era from which it comes. No need for me to review the individual tunes; anybody with a radio has head most of them. A must-have for any music fan.
Fogerty.......2007-06-10
Great value. If you are into the 60s' and 70s' you will love this one.

Aww the good old times!.......2007-06-18
I grew up with this music!! My dad bought the records when I was little, YES records! Im 25yrs old so this was the late the 80's when he purchased it. Now I have the opportunity to introduce this to my children! I'm so glad they are continuing to sell this music because I loved it as a child. I still remember taking the records out and asking my parents to play it.
Walt Disney CD: Characters Do Not Sing.......2007-06-06
I'm a little disappointed. I purchased this CD thinking The Disney Characters would be singing the songs. My son was all excited when I showed him the CD and asked me to play it. When he heard it he said "this is not Mickey Mouse". He was very sad. The songs on this CD are sung by children. The CD is ok.
Garbage.......2007-05-13
Really very boring and campy - I can't bear to listen and wish I could return it. In fact all of the Disney Lullabuys and children's songs were downright horrible. Stick with Baby Einstein, Rock a Bye Baby and Just for Kids - Curious George is great too
Yeah!.......2007-03-04
Much better than all of those other randon baby CD's where all of the songs sound exactly the same and sound like they are sung by chipmunks!!
Great for little one and me!.......2007-02-26
Once I put this in, I couldn't help but sing along too--I had this collection when I was little as well, so it was fun for us to share these classic songs together. I like the blend of folk and lullabies, as well as silly songs like Animal Fair and Hokey Pokey. All the songs with kids singing and Elmo, Mickey, etc. get on my nerves--I think the guy singing has a very pleasant voice, and again, is fun to sing along with.

No other Otis compilation quite satisfies the way the old double-LP best-of does, but never mind: any way you hear Redding's many great moments is a good one. The Very Best splits ballads and up-tempo stuff half-and-half, letting you hear the great one's humanity in every mood--the pile-driving rock of "Respect," the preaching fervor of "Try a Little Tenderness," the nascent reflection of "Dock of the Bay." A record collection with no Otis is a poor thing: here's yours. --Rickey Wright
Customer Reviews:
the very best of otis redding vol 1.......2007-05-12
The material brought me back to the late sixties 1968, with memories of his death, December of that year and the coming out of the Beatles White album that same month. It has been a long time since a performer was of his ilk.
One of the greats of soul .......2007-03-21
Otis Redding was one of the greats of soul. He was taken early at the age of twenty- six in a plane crash just three days after recording the song which would be his first number one on the charts, 'Sittin on the Dock of the Bay' That tremendous song is here. It has so much both in its lyric quality and the gripping power of its music. These are its lyrics" I heard it first many years ago and it has been playing in my mind ever since.
Sittin' in the morning sun
I'll be sittin' when the evening comes
Watching the ships roll in
Then I watch 'em roll away again, yeah
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Ooh, I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay wastin' time
I left my home in Georgia
Headed for the Frisco bay
'Cos I've had nothing to live for
And look like nothing's gonna come my way
So I'm just gonna sit on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Ooh, I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay wastin' time
[...]
Look like nothing's gonna change
Everything still remains the same
I can't do what ten people tell me to do
So I guess I'll remain the same, listen
Sittin' here resting my bones
And this loneliness won't leave me alone, listen
2000 miles I've roamed
Just to make this dock my home
Now I'm just gonna sit at the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Ooh wee, I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay wastin' time
There are also other outstanding works here. Redding reportedly did not want to do 'Try a Little Tenderness' but his version is an original and strong one.
The grainy coarseness of his voice was nonetheless lyrical, catching and upbeat in its way.
This is 'Soul Music ' at its best.
CAN'T BE BEAT!!.......2007-01-10
Otis Redding is another of the "great voices" of the past!! His music is unforgettable!! And it's "superb"!! You can't go wrong with this CD...I'll bring you alot of joy & relaxation!! Try it...you'll like it - Guaranteed!!
If you like Otis, you'll love this!.......2007-01-10
So many times I see movies and love the music; only to find out it is Otis Redding. This cd has his best, and you will recognize virtually every song. I love it.
Otis at his best.......2006-11-05
I have always liked Otis Redding. When I listened to the sample tracks on Amazon, I knew that I had to have this CD. It is timeless and I can listen to it and Al Green, over and over. Buy it.

Log onto an India.Arie lyrics page and you won't come away expecting an easy-breezy listen--here's an artist, remember, who made a name for herself by declaring her disdain for silicone and Cristal on her 2001 debut. What's consistently a revelation for new recruits to the Arie camp, then, is how good the music makes you feel. No matter how heavy the subject matter (and it still gets heavy--God surfaces in the first verse of "Intro," the prayerful opening song), she delivers it in such a way that it ends up feeling like homespun wisdom--accessible, cloudless, and heartening. Testimony, no minor R&B/soul achievement, is full of such earth-mother moments: "The Heart of the Matter," a cover of the Don Henley song, is what a hug might sound like if it were music; "There's Hope" reminds tunefully that you don't have to pay to smile ("You better thank God for that"); "Private Party" points up the benefits of getting naked before a mirror and liking what you see (impossible as that sounds, it'll seem less so after listening); and "I Am Not My Hair," a sexy thumper featuring Akon, celebrates not the hair, not the skin, but "the soul that lives within." Musically, "Testament" is a testament to the benefits of branching out; in addition to gospel and hip-hop, you'll also find country and pure pop forays here. All of it works, and works wondrously. Arie may be the Oprah of the music world: she's spiritual, she's got her head screwed on straight, and whatever she touches turns to gold. Or at least it ought to. --Tammy La Gorce
Customer Reviews:
Great CD.......2007-07-03
Love this CD. It is fun, happy, energizing. Her voice is beautiful. I'm tired of all the new artists sounding alike so it's great to hear some diversity in style and sound. Buy this CD.
Classic. Wow........2007-06-14
From the second I heard her debut single, "Video," in 2001, I knew that I would be a fan for life. I didn't completely love either of her first CDs. Her debut was nice, but a few songs were iffy for me. Her second album felt a little rushed and seemed like a handful of great tracks tossed in with a bunch of filler material. And I could never stand her interludes, sorry to say. By no means did I not enjoy the CDs. I would probably give both four stars, but the point is... I had never been able to listen to one of her albums straight through, even though I love her. Until now, that is.
This album was so unexpected. It was one of the most pleasant surprises of the year for me. The whole thing is amazing. I listen to it straight through all the time, interludes and all! Her voice has improved so much; it has gained a new purity and is now smooth as butter. It glides over the tracks. The production is flawless. She has added a lot of other influences in the mix, including country and gospel. Her re-make of "Heart of the Matter" made me love the song, a small miracle in itself. I listen to "Wings of Forgiveness" every morning, as well as "I Choose" and "Better People."
To the many people claiming this is a "sell-out," I don't know what to tell you, but it's not. It's just not.
In short, this album is absolutely amazing. It is one of my favorites of all time! Each song is excellent, has a catchy melody, and delivers a great message. I demand that you buy this album. I cannot wait until Volume 2, Life & Politics. It's supposed to come out sometime this summer!
It was cool.......2007-06-11
It came quickly and is a good cd. what more can you ask for?

It's one of the cruel ironies of music today that Billy Joel has been relegated to a kind of adult-contemporary hell, where his legacy is measured by soft-rock staples such as "Just the Way You Are," "Piano Man," and "New York State of Mind." To be sure, well-crafted ballads are a part of his legacy, but they're hardly the whole story, as this collection of his early and mid-period hits amply demonstrates. From the unbridled biographical boasting of "The Entertainer" and the ambitious storytelling of "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" to the careening abandon of "Only the Good Die Young" and the thoughtful social commentary of "Allentown," Joel was as complete an artist as the last three decades have produced. --Daniel Durchholz
Customer Reviews:
Billy Joel - A Decent Compilation.......2007-06-11
These days Billy Joel is often lumped in with Elton John as being remembered only for his top 40 radio hits and mushy ballads from the past several decades. Many people forget that like Elton, Joel put out some really strong albums in his early and mid-career. The guy was a songwriter's songwriter and not only could play a hell of a piano, but could be a very clever lyricist as well. Like Elton, Joel's output could be very inconsistent. For every "Goodnight Saigon" or "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant" he wrote more throwaway stuff like "Uptown Girl" or "Tell Her About It". This two disc compilation captures all of his singles and some of his album tracks up to 1985. For the most part the material here is good, as you hear him move from an album oriented artist to a more commercial singles oriented one over the course of a little over a decade. The first disc is the best and starts out with some of the best cuts from his pre-superstar days. "Piano Man", "Captain Jack", "The Entertainer", and "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant" are all great tracks and show a much different side of Joel than much of his later output. "The Stranger" is also included here. Although I was never crazy about the music or the chorus to this one, the lyrics are some of Joel's all time best. The rest of disc one starts dipping into Joel's big hit territory with the mush ballads "Just The Way You Are", and "She's Always A Woman" (written for his 1st wife who he would divorce not too many years later). The big hits "Only The Good Die Young" and "Moving Out" are also included. Disc two is not quite as strong. Three strong songs open the disc "My Life", "Big Shot" and "You May Be Right" all decent songs that got played to death on radio. Then it is back to mediocrity land with "It's Still Rock n Roll To Me" (I always think of the Weird Al Yankovic parody "It's Still Billy Joel To Me"), "Don't Ask Me Why", and "She's Got A Way". The best part of this disc is the three tracks from what is in my opinion Joel's strongest album "The Nylon Curtain". For this one Joel took a serious turn and came up with some really great songs. The 3 singles from the album are all represented here and they are all good ones. "Allentown" is a portrait of the Pennsylvania steel town after the industry pretty much pulled out. "Pressure" is another good one about the pressure of modern day life. "Goodnight Saigon" may be Joel's best all time work, and is a striking portrait of the Vietnam War. The last half of the CD covers Joel's Do Wop period with "Uptown Girl", "The Longest Time", and "Tell Her About It" (songs about his second wife whom he would eventually divorce). I am not much of a Do Wop fan so these don't do a lot for me. Two new (at the time) songs close the disc out and are pretty much both throw aways in my opinion. In the end this is a nice compilation of early Joel material. If you are looking for an overview this would be a good pick up.
Greatest Hits.......2007-05-11
Many "Greatest Hits..." albums and sets are lacking or down right suck. This set is great. The songs you want to hear the way you expect to hear them.
WARNING: Not the Complete Versions.......2007-03-31
I don't often get "greatest hits" collections, preferring instead to buy original albums, but in this case I did, because there are a handful of Billy Joel songs I wanted in my collection, but I didn't want to invest enough to purchase all of his albums. Unfortunately, they don't tell you that what you get here, at least in some instances, are the "single" versions of these songs, not the full-length versions from the original albums. Case in point: One of my favorite Billy Joel songs is "Just the Way You Are," but the version on this set cuts an entire verse. I haven't done comparisons on all of the other songs, but if they'd pull that on this song, they probably did so on others as well. It's incomprehensible to me; if someone wants Billy Joel songs, the odds are that they want the complete songs, not truncated re-edits.
I love it.......2007-01-11
I was familiar with a few of Billy Joel's songs, but I thought my disc collection would not be complete if I did not own a good sample of his material.
This product proposes a chronological approach and that suited me just fine. The two discs are loaded with all the classics. All of them wonderfully digitalized. I was able to appreciate the enormous range of Billy Joel. Great songwriter, great singer, great piano player. Although I am drummer, I do understand why people like him, or Sting, or Stevie Wonder, or Elton John, are on top of the music industry food chain. It is truly difficult to be able to master so many areas of music. And I am not talking about the performing, the band leading chores, the musical direction, production, publicity, all these extra skills to own in order to arrive where they are.
Getting one hit out is already a rare feat, but 35 or 40 like the ones presented in this compilation, require a truly great mind (something many one hit wonders wish to have).
I love this compilation. A great buy!
The Billy Joel conundrum.......2006-12-13
The first time I witnessed Billy Joel was on Saturday Night Live in 1978 performing "Just the Way You Are." And being it was the first time I saw the show and Billy Joel, it caught me by surprise when I found out his performance was not one of the skits. A group of us were trying to predict the punchline during the song and we all agreed halfway through that the camera was going to pan out and Mr. Joel would be wearing no pants as the lyrics seemed to be a sardonic ode to self pleasure. To our surprise, the song ended and they cut to commercial. We still thought we were being put-on, but after watching the rest of the show and seeing Mr. Joel perform "Only the Good Die Young," we joined hands and made sure to never mention this night to anyone. To this day I always wonder how Mr. Joel could have crashed his car into trees, houses, and fire-hydrants, and the only thing that keeps coming to mind was our prediction that Mr. Joel was wearing no pants at the end of the skit. Skip this and buy a pair of Bugle Boys instead...

Between their name, stage introductions spoken in a uniquely twisted form of Spanglish, bizarre lucha libre attire, and ongoing association with Latino rockabilly revivalist Big Sandy, Spanish has always been a major facet of Los Straitjackets' shtick. So it's little surprise that the Nashville-based garage/surf/twang/trash rockers decided to head south of the border for an all-covers album. You don't need to hablar español to shimmy, shimmy, shake along with the quartet. Guest vocals from Cesar Rosas of Los Lobos (who also produced the disc), Little Willie G. of East L.A.'s vintage Thee Midniters, and Big Sandy bring a soulful strut to these punchy stompers. True to form, liberties are taken with the song titles: "Hang on Sloopy" is now "Hey Lupe," "Bony Maronie" comes out as "Popotitos," and "Dizzy Miss Lizzy" inexplicably appears as "El Microscopico Bikini." But that's all part of the fun as the masked men and singers swing through hot-tamale versions of signature hits from the Kinks, the Troggs, the Coasters, and others. Although the Fab Four aren't here as songwriters, their spirit energizes rocking renderings of "Dizzy Miss Lizzy," "Slow Down," and "Anna," all early Beatles staples. The Straitjackets haven't entirely abandoned the instrumentals from their own early years, as the scorching "Whittier Blvd." attests. Slow dancers will swoon to ballads such as "Dejenme Llorar" and Barbara Lynn's sublime "You'll Lose a Good Thing." Liner notes tell us that Spanish covers of many of these tunes managed to become moderate hits in the '60s and '70s, but it's safe to say these fresh versions will spice up any carnival. Let the fiesta begin! --Hal Horowitz

Mucho Fun!.......2007-05-26
Great song selections, rock solid playing and vocals from some terrific performers... what more could you ask for? I have no idea why one person gave this release a single star. This is a fun album. Los Straitjackets & Big Sandy also put on a heck of a live show by themselves, but when they tour together... watch out! You won't stop dancing for about a month. This disc is highly recommended.
What a disappointment!.......2007-05-13
A new Los Straitjackets CD? Produced by Cesar Rojas? Sounds like a winning combo doesn't it?
'Fraid not mi amigos. This CD is a major work of spam. Absolutley no originality and not even a trace of
enthusiasum. I'm sorry..I am a fan of Rojas and the masked men, but this is not a work too be proud of.
Lackluster vocals by Lil Willie G and even less effort from Big Sandy. Pass on this one carnales.
Early rock and soul hits with an East Side style.......2007-04-25
With the Beatles creating an inflection point for rock 'n' roll, a torrent of UK and US music dominated the global charts in the early '60s. But their self-contained form also seeded do-it-yourself scenes all over the world. Even within the U.S., garage bands and regional radio gave rise to local heroes and hits that grew organically into national entities. As these hits gained international acclaim, many were rewritten and re-recorded, riding out the local-to-national curve again and again in other countries.
On this all-covers release, the Nashville-based instrumentalists Los Straitjackets, already beholden to Mexico for the full-face wrestling masks that hide their identities, explore UK and US hits of the late '50s and early '60s as they were interpreted south of the border. Together with guest vocalists Big Sandy and Little Willie G (of the '60s Los Angeles East Side legends Thee Midniters), and vocalist/producer Cesar Rosas (of Los Lobos), they re-imagine rock and soul standards en español with an East Side groove.
Although the vocalists dominate this album, they don't always match the fervor of the original hits. The Spanish translations stand out to ears trained by the English originals, but songs of explosive rebelliousness and first-blush teenage abandon, such as The Kinks' "All Day and All of the Night" and Larry Williams' "Bony Maronie," are rendered here more tamely and with heavier bass and beat. Others, like Thee Midniters signature instrumental "Whittier Boulevard," find a deep, soulful groove, and a loose rendition of The Coasters' "Poison Ivy" brings to mind the party atmosphere of The Premiers.
The ballads are sensational, including Little Willie G's emotional reading of Arthur Alexander's "Anna," and superb translations of Jackie Wilson's "Lonely Teardrops," Marty Robbins' "Devil Woman," and Barbara Lynn's "You'll Lose a Good Thing." It's the ballads that really push this disc beyond novelty, with lyrics that convert fluidly from English to Spanish, and emotion that resonates in any language. Just the ticket for a summertime cruise in your '62 Impala. 3-3/4 stars, if allowed fractional ratings. [©2007 redtunictroll at hotmail dot com]

Every track on this CD contains a beautiful melody, many of them easily recognizable, all of them exuding tranquility. "O mio babbino caro" from Puccini's Gianni Schicchi opens the disc, with Bell delicately accompanied by a harp and spinning the long melody with great sensitivity. Bellini's "Casta diva" from Norma lives up to its reputation as the epitome of bel canto in Bell's hands; his violin sings. The middle movement of Mozart's 21st Piano Concerto takes well to the violin, and Debussy's "The Girl with the Flaxen Hair" is played with great warmth and sensuality. It would be easy to turn a recital like this into treacle, but Bell is wise enough to realize that the music is already sweet enough and he plays with great reserve and a minimum of sentimental slides. The light accompaniments always support, with woodwinds prominent but used with grace. This CD, in short, is a beauty: a fine gift, a lovely mood setter. --Robert Levine

End of the Day.......2007-06-08
I am a Joshua Bell fan, and this album is the one that I enjoy with my dessert, it calms me at the end of the day, and makes me think of my 6 year old granddaughter's visit. She has to have music on during meals at her home. Usually it is some kid stuff, but I do not have anything like she has at home, so I chose to play Joshua Bell during our dinner. When I placed the dessert before her, she looked up at me and said: "This music is so beautiful, I want to play the violin just like that". What more could I say.
He is inspiring, and she is right. This album is beautiful.
Wonderful!.......2007-05-30
I play this for my grandson to nap by. It is so relaxing and wonderful!
Over and over and over...........2007-05-17
That's how I want to play this CD! It's a wonderful line-up of rich, mellow, captivating compositions played with a warmth and vibrancy that is seldom heard. Joshua at his very best. You won't be disappointed.
Non-standard CD format.......2007-04-22
The music on this CD deserves five stars, but the CD itself is a non-standard format that doesn't work on all players. There's a tiny warning on the back of the CD. You won't notice the warning until you discover that the CD doesn't work on your player. My Macintosh computer wouldn't read the non-standard format so there was no way for me to listen in my office or put the music on my iPod.
A friend's PC was able to read the CD and make a copy in standard format that can be read on any player, including my Mac. The story had a happy ending, but I can not comprehend why the publisher chose the oddball CD specification.
The music is excellent and worth the trouble of making a copy, but the publisher really shouldn't make you go to that effort just to listen to a CD that you paid for.
wonderful surprise.......2007-04-13
This recording has quickly become a most favorite cd in my collection. My personal preference had always been for opera and not symphony concert. To hear the violin replace the voice and line of the opera singer (in two of the excerpts) was a wonderful surprise for me, and has enhanced my enjoyment of all of this recording.

Still great music after all these years.......2007-06-16
Wow, I must really be getting old, because I remember buying this album in high school and enjoying every single track on it. Over the years I have bought and sold a lot of CDs, but I've never even thought about selling this one. Not only that, but I still listen to it frequently (though of course now it's on my ipod - gotta keep up with the times after all). Unlike some "all-star" albums, this one isn't an ego fest. No one artist tries to outdo the others or steal the show. Instead, it's as if these five remarkably talented musicians just sat around having fun in the studio and ended up with some great music. I've never heard anything else that sounds like the Traveling Wilburys' unique and original style.
REISSUE AVAILABLE 6/12/2007.......2007-04-14
According to the April 19th issue of Rolling Stone Magazine,Rhino Records will be releasing their two long-out-of-print cds on June 12th,2007.
It will contain a twenty-four minute studio documentary and various bonus tracks........no info on whether it has been remastered.......but great news none the less!!
History of the Traveling Wilburys Volume 1 .......2007-03-19
Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 was the debut album by the supergroup Traveling Wilburys and was recorded and released in 1988 to enormous commercial success and critical acclaim.
In the afterglow of George Harrison's 1987 comeback album Cloud Nine, he initiated a musical jam early the following year between friends Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne. Lynne was involved in producing songs for Roy Orbison's Mystery Girl album and invited him along. At the jam session, an idea was proposed to record a one-off album together under the name of Traveling Wilburys. Masquerading as the Wilbury brothers, the participants would be known as Nelson (Harrison), Otis (Lynne), Lucky (Dylan), Lefty (Orbison) and Charlie T. Jnr (Petty).
With Harrison having the greatest claim to the band, he signed them up to Warner Bros. Records, his current label, and incorporated their own Wilbury Records label, in addition to producing the sessions with Lynne that spring.
In October, Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 (so named because of the unlikelihood of there being another) was released, preceded by "Handle with Care" as the lead single. Although the single did not scale the pop charts (it stalled at US #45), the album did, reaching #16 in the UK and an impressive #3 in the US. With over forty weeks on the charts, the album was later certified double-platinum. While Harrison and Petty had had recent successes, Dylan, Orbison and Lynne had not seen an album climb that high in several years. At the time, no Dylan album had ever achieved two million in sales. As one critic put it, it was "one of the great commercial coups of the decade."
Most critics said the group's modest ambitions were fresh and relaxing. During 1989 and 1990 the album won many accolades, not least a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group.
Orbison suddenly died of a heart attack on 6 December 1988, surprising much of the music industry and press. The sleeve cover for "End Of The Line", the group's second single, was photographed four days after Orbison's death. Depicting a guitar in Orbison's rocking chair, it was taken as a tribute. As for Orbison, this album was released at the same time as his Mystery Girl album in 1989, and both their success made Orbison one of two singers (Elvis Presley being the other) to have two albums both reach the charts posthumously.
Both Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 and its unexpected 1990 follow-up Traveling Wilburys Vol. 3 were deleted in the mid-1990's with rights reverting to Harrison and his estate after his 2001 death. With all of his solo catalogue having reverted to EMI after almost twenty years with Warner Bros. Records, who distributed his Dark Horse Records label, both Traveling Wilburys albums appear set to be re-issued through EMI. Tom Petty was recently quoted to have said that they would be re-released in late 2005, though nothing, as of December 2006, has come of these claims.

Love the Wilburys, But Where The CD?.......2007-03-04
What an awsome recording too bad it's not in print. i have no idea why, because it's a great record of the greatest supergroup of superstars ever formed for a fun project, together they threw ideas at one another, it resulted in the ultimate record of the 20th century and beyond a timeless piece. George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne And Roy Orbison playing together no egos getting in the way. the guys are just having fun, is'nt that what Rock n' Roll is all about, instead of getting boozed up and all the drama just play for the fun of it.
When is somebody going to get smart and re-release this recording.
I'm Glad I have a copy of it already that i got years ago before it when out of print, i just saved in on my itunes and i'm going to put the cd in my safe. because i don't want to have to buy again at these high prices.
superstars of the 20th century.......2007-02-07
This is such a grand collaberation from some of the greatest songwriters ever. "She's My Baby" should have been a top ten hit. And listen to the soulful piece by Roy Orbison that has as much power as "Pretty Woman" and you'll know this is a must have for any music collector.

DMB fans will love.......2007-05-28
This is a great set of DMB music for avid fans, or the ocassional listener.
It includes hits like the sexy Say Goodbye, to more "top 40's" radio-played hits like where are you going.
I love Dave, and his sexy voice, the instrumentals....so if you're new to Dave it's a good place to start. It's a mix of live and studio performances, so if you don't listen to any other cd's you'll miss out on some other good live tracks, but live or in the studio- he's still a magician!
Love the live songs........2007-04-06
Only really listen to the live disk. Everything else is repetitive. Maybe another live album would have made more sense.
Misrepresented.......2007-02-21
First of all I would like to make it clear that I am an avid DMB listener and fan. Secondly I should let you know also that I do not own a studio album from the band. Every album I have is live. The title of this compilation is a misrepresentation of it's objective. This album is not a "best of" album, but more of a "greatest hits" album. It compiles the majority of the band's most successful radio hits even though the majority of the songs that did not make the radio consistantly are much better. Personally, I think that "I Did It" is one of the worst songs that Dave ever did along with "Where are you Going." I would say that if a real dave fan were to put this together replacing some of the songs currently present, I would say that The Best of Whats Around, Rhyme and Reason, Lie in Our Graves, Proudest Monkey, Say Goodbye, Rapunzel, The Dreaming Tree, Last Stop, The Stone, If I had It all and Bartender would and should be on this album as a BEST OF album. But reality is is that this is a Greatest Hits album. Maybe a best of tour album will be released, but between Central Park, Fenway, Listner Supported and Red Rocks (the old one) you already have that. Do yourself a favor and avoid this album.
Definately A Great Gift for Any DMB Fan.......2007-02-05
Definately a great gift idea for any dave matthews band, to complete a collection or just start one.
Live dics makes this album.......2007-01-17
This album is great for Dave Fanatics and Casual listeners. The best of album is the typical best of disc that casual listeners will listen to for hours. The fanatics didnt purchase the album for the best of but rather the live disc that contains tracks from around the world and truly is a great production of their talents. I ordered online so i have the second live disc and its fantastic and includes tracks that casual listeners probably have never heard of before. I suggest this ablum if you are a casual listener b/c you will truly understand why the fanatics line up hours in advance for concert tickets every single year.

As a survey of Toby Keith's first four recordings (not including the seasonal Christmas to Christmas), this set turns in some strong singles, making the case for the Okie singer-songwriter as one of the more traditionally minded of the '90s hat acts. Keith rarely devastates as a singer, but he never overreaches, and there's more than a bit of grit in his delivery of "Should've Been a Cowboy" and "He Ain't Worth Missing." His emotional triumph remains the obsessive "Who's That Man," in which Keith sees another man living the life he threw away. Keith also includes two songs not available elsewhere, complementing an appealing mainstream country set. --Roy Kasten

I puchased this Toby Keith album because I was given tickets to see him in concert and didn't know even one of his songs. I became a fan of Toby's soon after listening to this CD. Although he talks through a lot of "Getcha Some", it's become of my favorites out of the fourteen tracks. "You Ain't Much Fun" is an awesome song, even if the message isn't very considerate. This album is a great collection of country!

I not a HUGE country fan but I like some of it. Toby Keith's greatest hits volume one is AWESOME!!! There isn't one song on the cd that I don't love to listen to over and over again! My autistic son who hates almost ALL music LOVES #10 LOL. We put it on repeat in the car!!!
This one is actually worth owning!.......2006-05-28
WOW...more than ONE song on here makes it worth owning!!! I sooo wish Toby would go back to this type of music. The last couple years his music has gone downhill BIG time!
Toby at his best.......2006-03-14
This is just a small sample of what he is capable of. There are a lot of great hits on this including "Dream Walkin" and "Should have been a cowboy". My favorite is "A little less talk and a lot more action". Definitely put this in your collection. It's worth it.
