5 out of 5 stars Joy In Worship.......2007-01-10

I would recommend that anyone who loves up beat gospel music get this one, if only for track 7, All Night Long. I love this song, it came on @ 6 AM one morning to my alarm clock, I immediately woke up singing and crying this song. I went on to have a wonderful day. I had to search the web to find it, and once I did, I had to order several more for 2 of my friends, who also happened to be my Minister and Pastor.

    5 out of 5 stars Uplifting.......2007-01-09

This CD was recommended to me by a dear friend. Oh my goodness. I seldom ever take it out of my player. His testimony about his son and the following song, From Me To You Lord, for me, takes me right before the throne of God. I love good traditional heart and spirit felt music and truly You Deserve My Worship, is all of that and more for me as well as those at our church. Even the children love to sing, You Deserve My Worship.

    4 out of 5 stars Good Job!.......2006-03-03

I grew up in Newark, New Jersey in a church that Alvin Darling played piano and organ in at one time. I had to go all the way to North Carolina to hear this wonderful work. Immediately upon my return to Newark, New Jersey, I rushed to Amazon's website to purchase "I called on the Lord" I've enjoyed it immensely. Good Job Alvin Darling!

5 out of 5 stars worship and praise.......2005-09-27

I thought this CD was awesome. I ordered this CD to hear the song"All Night" but became intrigued with many of the other songs including "Testimony". I listen to this album almost every morning going to work. It is a very inspirational CD with lots of praise and worship. It helps to start my day off on the right note.

    5 out of 5 stars A Blessing!.......2005-09-27

I purchased this CD for "All Night". When I began browsing through the intro's to see what else I liked, I had to go to the beginning and just listen to the entire CD. Each song captured me. Each song has a message for someone in your congregation - Very appropriate for Sunday Morning Worship. Buy it today, you will enjoy!

This is an awesome CD (and video too).
The Cathedrals cap off their ministry with an outstanding concert of a lifetime. They sing many of their hits and old favorites with energy and enthusiasm.
An added little "extra" is special appearances Sandi Patty, The Statler Brother and The Oak Ridge Boys.
Wonderful CD and I highly recommend it.

    5 out of 5 stars The Cathedrals - A Farewell Celebration.......2002-09-21

What a classy group of gentlemen. Talk about an absolutely awesome tribute and an even greater talent. Truly God's gifts at work.

The presentation of this work is so inspiring and uplifting, I believe it's what God gave us gospel music for. I play it over and over and over. The talents of Glen Payne and George Younce are showcased wonderfully! The "supporting cast" isn't bad either.

Get a copy for yourself a.s.a.p.

5 out of 5 stars Best Album on Earth!.......2001-07-18

This is my second review because I can't say enough about this CD. I just placed another order for an additional two CD's for Christmas. The selections on this CD had to have been sent from Heaven and are sung with such heart and love put forth by the Cathedrals. If you are ever down in the dumps, this Cathedral CD will bring you up. Best music on the face of this earth.

5 out of 5 stars Great live, great cd........2005-02-23

I just discovered Babbie 1/10/04 when she came to North Metro church in Marietta to participate in a benefit concert with Mac Powell (of Third Day), Todd Fields (Worship leader at Northpointe Community Church in Alpharetta, GA which is led by Andy Stanley, son of Charles Stanley), Kenn Kington and the Pat Terry Group (very big in Christian music in the 70's - legendary pioneers of Christian Rock). To say she has an amazing voice would not really do her justice. She has a presence about her when she performs that says "I'm totally at ease". It's important to point that out as that comes through in all of her songs on this cd. She'll lead you to lift up the Lord and let you sing along and praise the Lord at the same time. On this particular recording she's singing live so you'll be able to enjoy the passion that she sings with live. This cd is worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars My favorite Christian artist.......2000-03-10

I really enjoyed this cd by Babbie Mason. I like the tempo first a lot of fast up beat melodies, then it simmers down to nice quiet rythms. I particulary like "He'll find a way" and "God has another plan".

I love all the cd's by Babbie. I put on the music in the car, and start singing with her. Don't we all wish we could sing like "Babbie". I was able to share with the congregation another one of Babbie's songs', God is Good... (All the Time)". I purchased the trax/accompainment tape. My whole church loved it and they became more familiar with her music. God is really sweeping through the Gospel music industry with Babbie. She's the true "Aretha" of Gospel and Christian music. God Bless!

5 out of 5 stars Babbie Mason--Soaring on the wings of a DOVE!.......1998-09-07

Babbie Mason is absolutely an inspired and motivated woman of God. Her music bears the fruit of the depth of the relationship she has grown into with Christ. Babbie is quite the pacesetter in the front lines of Inspirational Christian Music. She is quite the minority on her record label in that she is a solo black female artist, whose music is successfully soaring it's way into multi-cultural societies despite socio-economic backgrounds. Mason, winner of a long-awaited Dove Award (and countless nominations), has placed herself in the forefront again for the live recording of the Praise Celebration album, in which she is always careful to give God the praise. Babbie, your labor for Christ is not in vain so constantly and consistently keep Him and only Him ever before you. May the Peace of the Lord continue to lead you in all that you do.

This three disc set is great if you are just getting into the genius that is Mozart. Most of the recordings are of a high quality and the final disc, "Serene and Sublime" which showcases Mozart's music at its most beautiful, is really great. And for the price you really can't go wrong. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to be introduced to Mozart's music.

The Lewis Family are one of my favorite gospel and bluegrass artists. I have been friends with them for 20 years. this is a collection of their music for 50 years. I believe that Pop Lewis last song recorded before he died at the age of 99 in 2004-"I Feel Like Traveling On." Pop plays his harmonica and sings very well.
There are a few new songs on the CD compliation. Lewis sings a new song on the project. May the Lewis Family be around for another 50 years.

5 out of 5 stars Number 1 Bluegrass Gospel Family !.......2005-07-16

I have heard this family on stage and in recordings for the past 3 decades. You can't go wrong choosing a Lewis Family recording. What harmonies! What spirit! What a tight professional performing group! You will not regret purchasing this recording - or any Lewis Family recording. Better yet, go see them in person and you will see and hear why they are the Number 1 Bluegrass Gospel Family. Enjoy!!!

5 out of 5 stars CELEBRATION IT IS!!!.......2003-04-09

The album has some songs from the past and some Brand New songs on it. The song "Old Family Table" is worth alone the price of the album. "Family and Friends" Brings an invitation to sit down and enjoy the Lewis Family as they think of their fans as Family and Friends. "Which Came First" talks of the old saying about the Chicken or the Egg debate and in this song it will leave you with little doubt on which one it is, fun spirited it is a toe tappin fun song. Ending the album is

"So Many Years, So Many Blessings" and after spanning a career of 50 Years they have seen Many Blessings during the Many Years.
All in All the album is a combination of hits old and new with new songs.
You can never go wrong buying a Lewis Family Recording. they put 110% into every one and I have never heard on I did not like and I have all their recordings except for two which I am still trying to find since it is from way earlier in their career.
Lastly, Look at checking out Lewis Phillips' recording
"EMPTY FIELDS" Its Lewis' solo project and it is awesome too. I normally do not care for male singers but his record will not dissapoint you!!

    5 out of 5 stars Wonderful!.......2007-01-04

My family loves this CD. We listen to it all year, not just around Christmas. It is very uplifting. Out of the recordings we have by Talbot, this is our favorite.

    5 out of 5 stars A Medieval Christmas Treat.......2006-10-24

I have almost 150 Christmas CDs, so believe me when I say this is one of the best Christmas albums I've ever heard! Christmas is about Christ, which this album makes abundantly and beautifully clear. Most of the songs are traditional carols, some of them quite ancient, while the others are originals written by Mr. Talbot.

The songs blend absolutely gorgeous orchestrations and arrangements with a boy's choir and a hearty English chorale with definite medieval overtones. The two songs with Mr. Talbot's fellow monks just add to the overall effect of transporting the listener into the midst of a medieval celebration. I've heard no other Christmas album like this, although the Mannheim Steamroller albums would be closest in style, and can't recommend it highly enough. Very beautiful, very spiritual, this album is truly what Christmas is all about.

5 out of 5 stars Christmas At The Hermitage ~ A Franciscan Flavor To The Season.......2006-03-30

'Birth of Jesus: A Celebration of Christmas' is John Michael Talbot's nineteenth release. This CD contains -12 tracks- of beautifully performed traditional songs of the season. Some you'll know, ('We Three Kings'), others you probably won't ('The Appointed Time'). Still all in all, a very nice addition to anyones Christmas CD collection.

5 out of 5 stars Makes your heart pause.......2003-10-29

This is a really emotional album. Your heart hears the real meaning of Christmas and your soul will like it. If you are tired of the really POP Christmas music and would like to go to that quiet place, this is the CD for you. Michael is so talented and a really gifted musician. He uses traditional insturments to make this a very enjoyable listen. You will play this again and again. The birth of Jesus made me cry

Joined by an all-star cast of friends and fellow recording artists, the Dixie Hummingbirds, arguably the most powerful jubilee and traditional-style black gospel quartet of the century, issue Music in the Air in celebration of their 70-year reign. Traipsing across stylistic musical boundaries, the still formidable group pushes the envelope with reconfigured arrangements of traditionals such as "How Great Thou Art" and "Come Ye Disconsolate," the former featuring a powerful a cappella lead by Wynonna Judd in juxtaposition to the interlocked harmony of the 'Birds. While not the dead-on quality of its prime-time recordings, Music in the Air is testament to the quartet's undeniable might and influence in both the sacred and secular worlds of music. Exciting contributions include Mavis Staples's enthused lead on "I Need Thee," a collaboration with the boisterous Shirley Caesar on "Praise Him," and Paul Simon's updated "Love Me Like a Rock," the original hit on which the 'Birds sang backup in 1973. --Paige La Grone

4 out of 5 stars Ready To Celebrate Jesus?.......2002-05-10

First off, this is the album that should have been entitled, "Growing Up", because this album shows that Walt Whitman and The Soul Children have grown with the times, and that they've grown in their style. One thing remains the same though, that the choir still ministers to your soul with heartfelt messages in the songs that are being sung. The album opens up with the setting-of-the-tone-for-the-album song, "Lift Him Up". After listening to that song, we find that the song was only to prepare us to celebrate Jesus with "Celebrate". Although majority of the songs have that contemporary gospel feel to them, "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" will appeal to those that are longing for that good old gospel music. What became an instant favorite to me was Walt Whitman's rendtion on Rick Found's "Lord, I Lift Your Name On High". If you haven't heard of Walt Whitman and The Soul Children of Chicago, or even if you're a fan, you won't be diappointed with this album, but deeply annointed.

If you like this artist, you might want to check out: GMWA Youth Mass Choir, TM (Truth Ministry) Mass Youth Choir, Youth For Christ, Shout Praises! Kids Gospel, Mississippi Children's Choir, Tyscot Gospel Kids, and Canton Gospel Soul Children

      5 out of 5 stars WOW!.......2000-07-29

They've done it again! God has truly blessed Brother Whitman and these beautiful children. The music is there, the message is there and most of all, God is there. With a combination like this, how can they miss? The children's choir in my church sings "His Eye is on the Sparrow" and they will be singing more material from this wonderful group!

      5 out of 5 stars Just Awesome!.......2000-03-22

Touches my heart! My Father Knows and Secret Place moves me to tears of joy in the Lord. These young people are a blessing from the Lord!

5 out of 5 stars The Greatest Youth Chior.......2000-02-18

This CD is definetly one of the CD's to get if you are a gospel music lover. Walt Whittman does an excellent job at directing these young children. "My Father Knows" (soloist Lecrecia Campbel)is one of the best songs on the album. "Greater He" provides just the right mix of hip hip and scripture to woo even the youngest of gospel lovers. If you are young and new to gospel, this album will be sure to have you tapping your toes and praising the Lord at the same time.

5 out of 5 stars Its tremendous, "His eye is on sparrow" touched me great;ly........1999-11-14

I tell you, I've only heard one song because my cd haven't came yet. But His eye is on the sparrow sparked my insides with intensity. It really reminded me to live life with greatfulness and preach to others that he's coming back one day and that everyone needs to get there life focus and right for jesus christ. I love this song, God Bless

Wow, thank God He spared Brother Winans to leave this last project for us! This truly blesses me each time I listen to it. From the beautiful "My Father's House" to the last 1 minute snippet, it's wonderful! Sure it's a bit raw and corners have obviously been cut from production, but when you get Pastor Allen and Shawn McLemore on the same mic, you're ready for a great showing out! Even BeBe's dedication "Safe" was splendidly done! I've been a follower of the Winans since their purple leather days (y'all remember Don't Leave Me) and have all five of Ron's CDs. I'm sorry that he left so soon, but boy am I glad he left this gem. Buy this CD, you'll be truly blessed!

4 out of 5 stars God Bless the Late Ron Winans .......2005-06-29

I am grateful to God that he allowed Ron Winans to record one last family and friends album before he passed away on June 17, 2005. This cd is a little raw on the production side, but the songs are from the heart of Ron Winans. My favorites are :Can't help but love him; My Help; I made a promise to you; Salvation is Free and I shall not die, but live. All of these songs are a testimony of God's greatness and how he works wonders in the lives of beleivers. God may have taken Ron away from us, but you can listen to his testimony through song. Buy this album!

      5 out of 5 stars A JOB WELL DONE!!!!!!.......2005-05-27

WHAT CAN I SAY. RON WINANS HAS TRULY BLESSED MY HEART. I AM SO GLAD GOD SPARED HIS LIFE TO DELIVER THIS CD. RON REALLY BLESSED MY HEART ON THE BALLAD "I SHALL NOT DIE BUT LIVE". "I MADE A PROMISE" TOOK US BACK TO THE DAYS OF QUARTET; RANCE SUNG ON THIS ALBUM LIKE HE WAS IN HIS 20'S. HE SUNG LIKE ONLY HE COULD. CECE AND MARVIN SUNG "MY HELP" AND THIS CLASSIC JUST TOOK YOU INTO THE PRESENCE. BUT THE HIGHLIGHT WAS "SALVATION IS FREE" WHICH WAS SUNG BY VANESSA BELL ARMSTRONG SO YOU KNOW THIS IS OFF THE CHAIN. VANESSA GAVE A OPEN INVITAION TO ALL THAT LISTENED THAT MADE ME WANT TO GO BACK ON A ALTER. ALSO BEBE WINANS DID A WONDERFUL JOB ON "SAFE FROM HARM". THAT WAS AGREAT TESTIMONY TO THE LIFE OF RON THAT WILL MAKE U WANT TO CRY. THIS IS A ALBUM OF PROMISE AND A DIVINE MIRACLE.

4 out of 5 stars Welcome Back, Ron.......2005-04-04

It's been such a long time coming (ha-ha) to hear another wonderful album from Family and Friends. I have all of the Family & Friends from 1 through current collection. My favorites from this album are: "My Help" (with Marvin & Cece)--oh, so powerful and personal; "Can't Help But Love Him" (Marvin & Gladys Knight)--Gladys puts her naturally spiritual side into this one; "I Made a Promise" (Rance Allen does it again with his unique octaves)--spiritually moving and last but not least "I Shall not Die but Live" (Ron and Lena Starks)--a true personal testimony. "Salvation is Free" is nice; however too long--too much more time given on this selection than others (however, that's my "take" on the selection. I recommend this album--if you don't know the Winans -- or haven't had the chance to experience "Family & Friends," try this one!!

      4 out of 5 stars Indeed...A Celebration.......2005-03-22

Ron Winans does it again...and we are proud to know that.
After experiencing a near-death situation regarding his health in 2004, Ron Winans returns with a family reunion of some sorts; bringing together BeBe, CeCe, Marvin and some of Gospel's finest for a special live recording session at the Greater Grace Temple in Detroit.

Even though the productions comes off a lil' too raw, the project is bathed in richness - and not just because of the many wonderful artists that highlight each and every song - but because there is an intesity and a sincerity that marks this project; setting it aside from most gospel projects. Vanessa Bell Armstrong breathes new life in the Mattie Moss Clark classic, "Salvation Is Free"; while Antun Foster kills the organ on this track. Hearing Ledell Abrams on the drums once again is a joy, and Rance Allen wrecks the place on "I Made A Promise" while Marcus Cole, Shawn McLemore and Ron Winans backs him up in grand style. Gladys Knight reveals her true colors on "Can't Help But Love Him" with the magnificent Marvin Winans. There are great ballads here - and CeCe Winans joins alongside her brother, Ron, for an emotional ride on "My Help". And contemporary gospel fans will love the album opener, "The Lord Has Been Good", with its dashing drive and funk-based melody. And the Katinas, one of CCM's rising artist, brings their vocal powers to "My Father's House", co-written by Ron Winans. It's full of emotion and sure to uplift.

There is a lack of fast and uptempo songs, but the slow ballads are full of richness and power; enough to minister and satisfy for years to come. Thank God for this one. If we can only wait for the next reunion.
