Album Description
Music from the motion picture "The Basket" composed and orchestrated by Don Caron. This lush romantic score has been enormously popular with people of all ages. It even provides a taste of opera such as you've never heard before. Recorded by the incomparable Hungarian National Symphony under the production of the Kiraly Music Network in Budapest, Hungary, this is likely to be one of your favorite CDs for years to come.
The Basket Soundtrack [Soundtrack]
The Basket Soundtrack, Music, Don Caron, Matyas Antal, The Hungarian National Symphony, "The Basket is a lush, fully orchestral, mostly mono-thematic score which, although bearing some superficial similarities to Danny Elfman's Sommersby, is nevertheless wholly beautiful...both film and score are absolutely superb.." ~ moviemusic.com ~

Fresh from their box-office triumphs on Close Encounters and the initial Star Wars chapters, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas used their combined studio clout to foster what must have seemed a long shot to some: a revival of the long-moribund action-adventure movie serials of their youth. The resulting exploits of Indiana Jones added another billion dollars or so to their coffers--and offered yet another opportunity for scoring legend John Williams to exercise his preternatural abilities to both inform the films with a nigh-perfect musical sensibility and play to the grandstands with rousing aplomb; "The Raiders March" quickly became one of cinema's most recognizable and enduring melodies. The three generous suites here (performed by the City of Prague Philharmonic under the baton of Nic Raine) re-create Williams's music with faithful energy, from the brass flourishes and Biblical mysteries of the first installment to the bright exuberance of Temple of Doom and the playful recapitulation of The Last Crusade. This 73-plus-minute collection also includes a bonus vocal performance of one of Temple of Doom's key motifs, Cole Porter's "Anything Goes." --Jerry McCulley

Good Try.......2007-06-10
This soundtrack was a good try because this is not the London Symphony Orchestra with John Williams conducting.
They have a little to much energy on the Raiders March (if you own the original soundtrack you'll know what I mean)
Still not bad.
Actually pretty good. .......2006-04-30
"Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" I believe is one one of John Williams best scores. Unfortunately, it has been out of print for some time. This album contains excerpts from all three of the Indiana Jones films. They are not the original recordings but this is a good effort and actually is quite an enjoyable listen. I have gotten alot of enjoyment from this CD. If you enjoy the compositions of John Williams or are a fan of Indiana Jones as I am , I would recommend this very much.
No John Williams mean STUPID MUSIC! .......2005-11-02
There is no way one can honestly call this Indiana Jones music with a clear conscience. The chords are off, and some of the songs are even missing NOTES! They slur when they aren't supposed to, they're giving John Williams THE GREAT a bad name! Indiana Jones movies are best ever in the entire world, and this "soundtrack" or "recording" or WHATEVER it's SUPPOSED TO BE, is dragging them through the mud! Horrible.
Not a soundtrack!.......2005-08-04
Come on, Amazon, you list this under "Soundtracks" when it clearly is but a later rerecording of the original score. A rerecordings is not a sountrack! The average customer would think something you list inder "Soundtracks" would in fact be a soundtrack and would find out it actually is but a rerecording of the score only by going over the details of these reviews. It might be great music, but a rerecording is not a soundtrack!
Well done of the Prague Philh. Orch.!.......2005-04-02
Since there is no album from John Williams himself who brings these great soundtracks of these 3 fantastic movies together, you may say that one is well done!
OK, it's not the Boston Pops Orchestra or the London Symphonic Orchestra, and OK, it's not the master himself who is conducting.
But Nic Raine and the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra do it very well! They have kept the spirit of the director and the soundtrack-composer. One little detail: the brass-section overdoes sometimes the rest of the instruments...
Conclusion: a must have CD, and the price is OK!

From "Duel" (a premiere recording) to "The Terminal," this release is a journey through movie magic.

mediocre mess, nonetheless worth having for some.......2005-07-07
If you've never purchased one of these Silva Screen best-of score CDs, let me first say this: unless you're a true film-score nut (like me), don't do it. Just don't. They really aren't terribly good. This one, like most, is played by The city of Prague Philharmonic, and it's not a terribly talented orchestra. They play very flatly, they miss notes, their orchestrator makes odd changes to composers' music. The end result of all this is that if you're familiar with the film versions of the pieces of music they're playing, it can be, frankly, a bit difficult to listen to.
That said, there is one decent -- decent, mind you -- reason to buy this CD. That's for the five-minute track of music from Spielberg's "Duel." It isn't great music, by any means, but if you're a Spielberg fanatic, this is the only release there has ever been (to my knowledge, at least) of music from that movie.
To be fair, not all of the tracks here are poorly done. "Hymn to the Fallen" comes off fairly well, and so does the music from "A.I." and "The Terminal" -- and the "Minority Report" theme is actually quite good. But much of the rest just doesn't sound right, so if you're looking for a quick way to assemble a quality overview of Spielberg music, this isn't the way to go.
That brings me to my final complaint, which is that "The Lost World" is omitted entirely! There were several good themes done for that movie; it was no mere rehash of "Jurassic Park."
For the seriously devoted only.

This is one not to be missed...so many highlights and stand outs...from one spectrum of comedy, romance, drama, suspense, action, adventure...to the other of horror, war, thrillers and classics that linger from decade to decade...many have sold millions in Soundtracks, but here in this collection they all appear compliments of conductors Paul Bateman, James Fitzpatrick, Mario Klemens and Nic Raines...conducting The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and the Crouch End Festival Chorus...though different arrangements in some cases, still a very good representation in tribute of this legendary director and icon.
A must have for "film-score-buff" collectors, including music lovers and anyone who enjoys a little nostalgia now and then...thank you James Fitzpatrick(producer), Reynold da Silva(executive producer) and Silva Screen Classics...it's amazing when one thinks about just how much a part of filmmaking history that Steven Spielberg has been over the last 30 some odd years...listening to this collection will bring back wonderful memories of some of those highlights and then your imagination sets in...just the way we like 'em!

Description
The warmth and emotional angst of the popular anime series Fruits Basket will always hold a place in the hearts of anime fans, as will composer-lyricist-vocalist Ritsuko Okazaki, who headlines the image soundtrack, "Fruits Basket - Four Seasons" with her indelible, soft vocals on the full length versions of the opening song, "For Fruits Basket" and the ending theme, "A Small Prayer." This 11-track CD also features three new Fruits Basket image songs all written and performed by Ms. Okazaki (Stratos 4, Princess Tutu), as well as six tracks of sweet, dream-like symphonic melodies that soothes into the listener's heart and mind with an uplifting charm.
Customer Reviews:
Only Japanese.......2007-01-14
If you want only the Japanese songs of Fruits Basket, get this CD. the English version of the Opening and End themes is not included. I was disappointed when I bought it because I'm looking for the English ones and can't find it anywhere.
Sweet tribute to a composer.......2007-01-04
This is a must have for those die-hard Furuba fans, especially fans of the anime. The sweet ballads and melodies of Ritsuko Okazaki's songs for the series are presented here in their entirety (versus the minute-long snippets used for the show credits). I purchased this CD solely for owning the opening theme song (made all the more poignant with the knowledge of the composer's passing). As a soundtrack, it's what I would call "standard anime," but Okazaki's haunting, childlike voice make the vocal songs memorable. The whole CD is tinged with a sadness, whether intentionally by the composer or by the listener, who has the knowledge of the composer's death. As one previous reviewer stated, "sweet and bittersweet."
Sweet and Bittersweet.......2006-11-11
The Fruits Basket anime would not be as touching and emotional if not for the wondrous music, music which moves in and out of the scenes like another character. Last year, I purchased Fruits Basket: Memory for You and I adore every single track. When Four Seasons was recommended by Amazon, I didn't hesitate to buy it.
I know I'm repeating myself from my other OST reviews but here it is again...I was not disappointed. What makes Four Seasons better than Memory for You is there are more tracks featuring Ritsuka Okazaki, whose voice was one of a kind. The emotion she put into each song makes me both happy to have discovered her work, and sad that she passed away. (Serenade makes me tear up. I'm such a cry baby.) The instrumental tracks aren't too shabby either. I highly recommend this soundtrack for Fruits Baskets lovers and anyone else who wants to experience the angelic voice of the late Ritsuko Okazaki.
Fabulous songs!.......2006-08-05
This is a definite MUST HAVE for FB fans! The songs are just so soothing to the ear and the instrumental musics are just awesome! It really puts you in the mood! this is one CD which will move your heard and bring tears to your eyes... Another must have is 'Memory for You'!!!
AWESOME music!!!!!.......2006-07-06
My favorite CD ever! The music is so relaxing to listen to. My favorite song is "It Makes Me Want To Cry With Reason". The song fitted Kyo and Tohru perfectly in the last episode. You don't have to be a Fruits Basket fan to buy this CD. I'm sure anyone would like it!

I love the music from this anime series and I was so happy to find it available here in the U.S.A. For anyone who loves this anime, this CD is a must!
A Pleasure to Listen To.......2006-07-23
A heartwarming, fun, at times heartbreaking, enchanting soundtrack. The music makes the show.
1.) For Fruits Basket-- Sung in Japanese (as it was when the show first aired), this song sets the mood for the show. Sweet, full of longing and dreams, yet sad and recalling the past, about moving on.
2.) Memory For You-- "Memory" is a major theme in Fruits Basket. If you want to be specific, it's Tohru's theme. Sweet yet perky, this song is overlaid with strings and tinkly synths.
3.) Secret-- I believe this song was played when Tohru first meets the Sohmas, but I am unsure. It has a questioning tone to it, mysterious and subdued. More synths.
4.) Solitude-- Similar to "Secret", but with electric guitar overlays and more synths, this song manages to be both subdued and yet not at the same time.
5.) Both Styles-- This is the music from the Japanese interviews with cast members from the DVDs. Cheery, fun, with mostly percussion sounds and a horn in the background, this song is silly. It just is.
6.) I'm "Drummer"-- Not sure where this song played in the series. Maybe I should watch their "wonderfullness" again. Anyway, as the title suggests, this entire track is nothing but drum beats and cymbals. Upbeat, but can be repetitious.
7.) Memory- In Daily Life--Frequently played at the opening of the show at the Sohma household, this song is the "Memory" theme played on a flute accompanied by a piano. Cute and perky.
8.) I'm On The Stage-- Enter Kyo, crashing through the ceiling. The music from his first "fight" with Yuki in the series, it's electric with guitars and drum. Upbeat with synthesized backgrounds, it's perfect battle scene music.
9.) I'm "Chin-Don-Ya"-- This is the music, I think, from when the Sohmas first transform in front of Tohru. I'm not sure. It can get pretty repetitious after hearing it a few times. Played on sounds that sound similar to bells or such.
10.) Going My Own Way-- Enter Momiji! This track is his theme song. It's fun and fantastic, and hearing it immediately conjures up images of the fun little rabbit in your mind.
11.) I'm "Fairy"--No idea where this song goes. It's played on a flute with strings and crystal synths in the background. Gets veeeery repetitious.
12.) Psycho-Doctor-- The theme for Hatori, and Kana story. Sweet, sorrowful, and wistful, this song is laden with string and piano in the background. Simply wonderful. Ear candy.
13.)Mysterious Family-- Hola, Akito. Just listening to this creepy song conjures up the fear Yuki feels for Akito, and the mystery and pain surrounding this unique family.
14.) Memory~ At Home-- Effectively communicates Yuki's personality. This is from the badminton scene. Soft, sad, played entirely on bell synths.
15.) Theme for the Landlady-- "Oriental" based. Very serene.
16.) Theme for the Landlady (hard)--This is played when Ritsu's mother and Ritsu go into "hyper apology mode". Makes you laugh every time.
17.) I'm "Hardworking Fellow"--Played when Tohru finds out Momiji is actually going to be in high school the following year, not middle school. This song needs no description. All I will say is that it makes me laugh and dance every time I hear it.
18.) Black-and-White (normal)--A hello to Hatsuharu, the punk on a bicycle. Slow rock.
19.) Black-and-White (hard)-- Hard rock, played when Haru and Kyo get into the fight and Haru goes black. Guitar all the way!
20.) Teru-Teru-Momiji-- The instrumental accompaniment to Momiji's song at the hot springs. If you remember the words, it'll make you laugh. If you don't...well, it's nice strings music anyway.
21.) Mogeta's Song (instrumental version)-- Remember when the girls from the Prince Yuki fan club go tearing out of Hana-chan's house, and that little kid watches them go? This is that song. The theme from the anime within the anime. Part rock, part soft rock.
22.) Memory~ On Vacation--- Upbeat song. Can't remember exactly when it was played. Bass guitar played majorly in the background, "memory" theme centered on strings.
23.) Hot-Blooded Man-- Remember when Momiji got berated by the Student Defense Force for wearing a girl's uniform and Haru for his hair color? This is the theme for the wondrous student council president. Effectively communicates the overbearing, glory-seeking personality.
24.) So Gorgeous!--"Momiji grown up and Yuki as a girl" theme. Makes you laugh if you know what it's from. Strings, entirely.
25.) Forward-Looking Attitude--I'm pretty sure this was played during and after Tohru brought Kyo back from the transformation scene. Mainly strings, with a piano playing quietly in the background, occasionally rising to the fore. Sweet, sad, and hopeful at the same time. Don't know how they managed that.
26.) Reason of Quibble-- I'm pretty sure this was played at the one scene where Kyo and Yuki were having an argument in front of the grocery store, but I'm not sure. Keyboard, bass, and drums in the background, not sure about the instrument in the fore. Laidback.
27.) "Fruits Basket" in Waltz--Often played at the end moments of the show at the Sohma house. Upbeat waltz, with a French air to it. Plenty of fun to listen to. I wish it had been longer.
28.) A Small Prayer (on air version)-- The thirty-second clip for the next show preview, and the end theme song. Need I say more? The theme is sung in Japanese, partially.
Overall, I love this album. I write to it, listen to it, drool over it, and love it. But buy it only if you loved the show. Otherwise, the fun bits will be lost on you.
Fruits basket made a CD...... AND IT ROCKS!!!!!!!!.......2006-03-13
I never knew Fruits basket made a CD. When I saw it I thought it was all in Japanese.I was wrong. I love Fruits basket and the CD. BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Furuba CD - Wonderfully Fantastic.......2005-12-06
This is a fantastic CD with the music we love from Furuba. By far my favorite anime soundtrack. No Furuba fan's collection will be complete without it. The only thing it's missing is Momiji's song. ^_^
Really cute music, worth the small price ^_^.......2005-09-09
I'm just going to make this short and sweet: you should buy this CD! If you've seen the show and liked the music you heard, you'll hear most of it on this CD. The only song I didn't hear was the one they played whenever Yuki's brother, Ayame, was around and acting like his crazy self. But, that's okay! Because every other song heard in the show is on here, and they're all amazing and fun to listen to.
If you haven't seen the show but you're thinking about buying this CD, I would say preview it, and if you like what you hear, you most likely will love all the rest of it. If you don't, you could always sell it to a friend or online ^_^

Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera, one of entertainment's most unforgettable duos, go together like peanut butter and jelly, Laverne and Shirley, and Laurel and Hardy. Having made a name for themselves with MGM's Tom and Jerry, the Hanna-Barbera team made history when they ushered Ruff and Reddy, the first made-for-television cartoon, into America's consciousness in late 1957. By 1960, The Flintstones were prime-time entertainment for the whole family, and as with its Hanna-Barbera brethren, the show's musical score not only nudged the laughs, but ingratiated itself into the very fabric of contemporary American life. Inventive, lively, and utterly recognizable, the remastered Hanna-Barbera Pic-A-Nic Basket box set is the mother lode of cartoon music. Handsomely packaged, with a faux basket handle and all, these four discs ambitiously tackle the massive canon largely assembled by lyricist Hanna and composer Hoyt Curtin. Discs one and two concentrate on the classics from the earliest tunes to a slew of Yogi Bear sounds to Space Ghost's theme and the zany Hong Kong Fooey theme. Disc three, an array of woodwinds, heavy loping tuba, poppin' slap-tongue bass clarinet, and rock- and jazz-inflected drum and guitar, pays tribute to the brilliantly animated Flintstones. Disc four, excellent filler for mix tapes, contains nearly 100 tracks of sound effects, from boings, footsteps, and explosions to bits of goofy dialogue. Bright moments are found in the trumpet-happy Jetsons theme, the groovy Scooby Doo main title, and the swingin' "Car Hop Song" from the Flintstones. These sounds, together with a terrific accompanying booklet, are altogether winning. --Paige La Grone
Customer Reviews:
two great tunes and the rest stink.......2006-07-13
can you guess what two tunes are the best. well if you guessed scooby doo where are you and the banana splits than you are correct. those tunes rock. all the others suck. five stars for the two tunes and no stars for the rest.
Cartoons ruined my mind.......2006-04-09
Cartoons ruined my mind, back in the 1970s. Now I'm so messed up, I can't write a proper review of this product. Excuse me while I go throw a brick at someone's head. "Boink!!"
4 stars for quantity.......1999-12-10
Let's face it: no-one in their right mind will sit down and listen to these cds in their entirety. It's not in the nature of the music. But as music to dip into when you need, it's fun.
But shame on Rhino for going only halfway with the packaging. It's a great design ruined by shoddy materials: what's the point of sticking a flimsy cardboard "picnic basket handle" on the box and warning (in tiny lettering on the box) against its use? When I went to pick it up it immediately broke.
A good compilation for both the casual fan & extreme fanatic.......1999-02-18
A wonderful and mostly thorough collection of signature themes and musical cues from the Hanna-Barbera library; with top-notch digital remastering and extensive, informative liner notes. One drawback is the omission of the slightly obscure cartoon themes, notably from the 70s and 80s, in lieu of a generous (and obsessive) compilation of 60s "cartoony" themes and needle-drops. Most of the adventure/superhero themes from the late 60s onward are noticeably absent as well. But the production values are outstanding and the cartoon sound FXs are the best available, bar none (too bad they're not public domain). Hopefully someone from HB and/or Time-Warner is reading this and would consider additional releases to make this a truly complete package.

Excellent - varied - unexpected - beautful - I loved it........1999-10-01
This is one of the best orchestral/classical soundtracks I've heard in quite a while. I place it right up there with my other recent favorite, "Shakespeare in Love." One thing that makes this soundtrack stand out is the original opera material - written to sound like an opera written around the turn of the century (1900). The opera cuts, the opening credits theme, and the closing credits are in my opinion the outstanding cuts, although there are many other very interesting and beautiful selections. (including some classical rags that are very fun to listen to). Top notch album. I highly recommend it, and I've heard them all. (or most of them)
