Album Description
This is the first commercial recording of three major works for flute and piano by the 90-year-old composer Louis Moyse. I believe that these works are “major” not only among Moyse’s output of 100 or so compositions, most of which involve the flute, but also that they can hold their own among the best works for flute and piano written in the 20th century. It has been a labor of love to record this music, but Karen Kevra and I have also been driven by a sense of urgency. Our hope is for Louis Moyse to gain some overdue recognition as a composer. We are also confident that listeners will enjoy these pieces and that musicians will want to play them.

Karen Kevra and Paul Orgel are extraordinary musicians, who play with depth and maturity. The music has remarkable range, from quirky rhythms to atonal movements to lovely melodies.

This is a very strong cd. I am particularly fond of "Toward The Sea" and "Another's Fandango." Starobin's playing and tone are beautiful.

A Must For Guitarists.......2004-10-27

On this record Starobin plays some of the most intellectually challenging music written for the guitar. The Babbitt piece is possibly the most challenging piece in the repertiore. Guitarists should buy this album if for no other reason than to get exposed to the extremes of new music. Not to mention the fact that Starobin's performance is pretty spot on!
