Album Description
Even before a place was found on Maestro Rilling’s mantel for his Grammy, the indefatigable conductor was back in the recording studio to deliver a set of letter-perfect readings of music by the mighty Mozart! As for the music, what words could possibly do justice to these sublime scores? The Esultate Jubilate, composed when Mozart was all of 21 years old (!) has remained one of the most appealing works in the repertoire. The dramatic Coronation Mass, composed in Salzburg following Mozart’s whirlwind tour of Mannheim and Paris already points to developments we’ll hear in the late, great operas. Our program’s crowning glory comes in the manner of the all-too-seldom performed Solemn Vespers, composed just MONTHS after the Coronation Mass! It is to DIE with envy to be so talented!

This is actually my favorite recording of these pieces. If you prefer a vital, lively, historically informed Mozart, Rilling is your guy.
