Sweet, and syrupy; just the way it should be........2006-10-12
Chamillionaire and Paul Wall are two of the few emcees I like in the mainstream scene. It's not because they have anything truly provocative to say, but simply because they present their rap with so much flair and style, that it's impossible to overlook them. Chamillionaire has gone a more lyrical route, while Paul Wall is continuing the subject matter that the Screwed Up Click made famous in the underground in the mid-nineties. On this release, it's easy to tell both men were brought up listening to Screw's music, much like the rest of the Houston scene, and they use the perfect mix of harmonizing flows about 'Lacs and grills, over trippy, and hypnotic beats.
While it's true that Paul nor Chamillionaire are profound lyricists, dropping GZA knowledge on this release, they are both damn good rappers, able to flip sweet punchlines galore. Clever metaphores abound throughout this album, while Chamillionaire sings the hooks in each song. I know Cham gets some flack for singing the hooks in his songs, and has even be labeled "50 Cent Jr." by some people because of it, but for the Chamillionaire detractors, face it; Chamillionaire has a slick voice, and is one of the few rappers who SHOULD handle his own hooks(the only other I can think of is Cee-Lo, and, well, he's made a career out of crooning now).
The Swishahouse crew handle production duties, and as one would expect, that's a good thing. It's hard to get an album sounding this authentic to the Houston sound Screw crafted over a decade ago, but 4 years ago, Swishahouse brought it; and they're still bringing the tight production today. These aren't songs to 'get crunk' to; these are songs to chill to. This is an ideal album to listen to whether you're taking a late night drive, or simply chilling out in your home with your headphones on. Calm, cool, and downright dope, the production on this album matches the charismatic duo perfectly.
If you're a fan of the H-Town sound, then this is perfect for you. Even if you're not, it's still incredibly difficult not to love this release. If you can find it, pick it up. Highly recommended.
Still N Luv Wit My $$$.......2006-02-12
I had just moved back to Houston from Seattle when this LP dropped and was in heavy radio-rotation around H-Town. Being away from the South for so long actually made me come back with a greater appreciation for Southern hip hop and the H-Town sound.
This probably isn't the album 4 you if you're looking for a Nas' "Illmatic," Jay-Z "Reasonable Doubt" or Wu-Tang "36 Chambers" type of album -- lyrical masterpieces.
That's not to hate on Paul and Cham b/c they got somethin' 2 say.
This is definitely an album you can ride 2 ... N Luv With My Money is still one of my favorites.
It's really too bad Paul and Cham fell out after this album though I'm not sure I'd even want them to try to top this LP if they got right again.
Fun, fun, fun hip hop album. Recommended for those who like to chill, have a good time and ride to some highly entertaining hiphop music.
Worthwhile.......2006-02-08
I enjoyed this CD quite a bit. The production is pretty good, while both rappers do show some nice lyricism throughout the CD. In my opinion does a better job than Paul Wall, but that's just me. Either way, this CD is worth buying.
weak !.......2006-01-05
anybody who likes chamillionare is trippin'. his flows are weak and his lyrics are weaker. come on "bullet proof vest on my chest so i won't get shot by cupid". is he still in kindergarten cause his flows sound like he's on a playground. paul wall is ok but he should stick to his day job makin' grillz. chamillionare needs to take his iced chain and melt it into a pacifier cause he's still an infant in da game.
The Only Good Album With Paul Wall.......2005-11-06
Ladies and Gentleman....... Koopa is the King..... This album I have owned for a number of years and is still my favorite Chamillionaire album ever... This is such a good album even Paul Wall was good... In case you dont already know this album unlike Controversy Sells was approved by Chamillion and Paul Wall... This is not a garbage thrown together album like Controversy Sells and if you have never heard a Chamillion album this should definetly be your first and if you have never heard a Paul Wall album then you should only buy this one cause all the others with exceptions for The Color Changin Click albums is Boo-Boo... I knew it 5 years ago I still know it today when the Sound Of Revenge drops the sky is the limit for the Color Changin Reptile... Dyke Jones Phoney

These Boys been on the grind and get and deffinatly shine on the album. You'll love the Screw version they cho chop it right Holla.
Sick, just plain sick.......2004-05-03
Paul Wall and Chamillionaire really killed it this time. This CD is sick, I love it. It has not come out of my CD player since I bought it, it's also sick to bump in your car. Sick baselines only made better by Michael "5000" Watts. Paul Wall IS the best white rapper. Plus, I gotta rep the TX
best album ever.......2003-09-18
This album is by far the best album ever released, especially the chopped and screwed version. The beats are tight and the flow is incredible. These guys rhyme about everything. Paul Wall is the best white rapper out there next to Eminem. This album along with all the other SwishaHouse CD"s are a must have for the ultimate rap fan collection.

Vienna Idol.......2007-02-07
Two Questions: Was this the audition tape for "Vienna Idol?" and What would Simon Cowell's say?
How sad.......2006-04-16
A terrible try to match Libera. Someone said it right: how dare those people use such marvellous voices to create such ugly
thing? Let Libera deal with amazing new age music, let Vienna Boys Choir continue being masters of their domains: classical music.
Not their style.......2006-03-31
I was expecting something a lot better. One can't fault the choir for the recording. The fault lies with the director, arranger, and producer. The instrumental accompaniment over shadowed the boys singing. The arrangements of each song was too similar, and the boys sounded too restrained for this style. Pop is not the musical style of the Vienna Boys Choir. They need to stick what they do best - classical and sacred music.
Perhaps The Greatest Gag Gift Ever!.......2005-12-07
The greatest thing about this CD is that it wasn't meant to be funny! Upon listening to "Burning Down The House", I was seized with a fit of hysterical laughter that nearly broke a rib. And the laughs keep coming. Need a smooth tune for that special gal, try "Fantasy", she will be yours! Need a good jogging tune, "Get Down" should serve your purpose. A CD that will offer hours of entertainment. Guaranteed.
wow - THAT was something!.......2005-10-31
I got this as a gift because my friend saw a holiday cd with Vienna Boys Choir at my house. My advice:listen to the music previews before you buy the cd. It's too freaky for me. Good Luck.

Respect.......2001-09-21
first compilation from the famous Respect nights in Paris; It is the best one of the series. Songs like Paul Johnson's Hear the music; Fantom's Faithfull or Dj Cam's Twilight Zone makes of this cd of the best ones I ever had ..
Respect IS burning
As good as vol. 2.......2001-08-20
This is the first "Respect is burning" which I had to get after spending a wonderful week in Paris. My favourite tracks on this one are "Hear the music", "Tout est bleu", "Disco 2000 selector", "Testify" and "(Get ready) for the power of disco". It is actually a little ridicolous rating each single track since the whole compilation is fantastic and a perfect example of the French clubscene as being (one of?) the best!! A cd you must own if you are a fan of the sound of French Disco House!
Break Dancer Stuff.......2000-04-26
HI Im a Break DAncer and ive listened to this CD. Its really funky. Fantom with FAithful is a really cool song. I love to break dance to it and the rest is really great. Im an Xtreme Techno/House fan and I love this CD. Even if you dont break dance its cool any way and its impossible not to dance to at least one song on here. Well Buckwheat440, me gives it a 4 star review. Its a little repetitive, but its great.
Finally, Real House and Disco.......2000-01-20
Anyone who is a fan of disco & house should give this CD a listen. Its hard to find "house music" since everyone's perception of house around the U.S. is different but this is it. This is definitely "Warehouse Music" (those of you who are from Chicago). Three of the tracks are really hot. The remainder of the CD was straight but it's worth checking out.
It is awsome.......1999-04-16
This cd just rocks! From DJ Cam's Twilight zone to Motorbass's neptune, here is a cd that pumps out 13 tracks of the frence scene. The inly disappointment i got from this cd was no tracks by air, but the cd is still awsome.

Much like the '80s house-music scene, where DJs were spinning vinyl in Chicago hot spots like the Warehouse, the Respect nightclub is fueling a dance culture that reigns in Paris. Respect Is Burning, Volume 2 is another grand compilation of the club's late-'90s dance anthems. With artists like Deejay Punk-Roc and Avalanche providing inventive tracks and underground DJs like Motorbass contributing exciting remixes, this collection includes several dance-floor classics. Including music by DJs from America and England, the French dance scene has a true international perspective. Mixing contemporary tunes like "Music Sounds Better with You" by Stardust (that's Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk) with a retro-dub version of the dance classic "I.O.U.," volume 2 celebrates diversity without ever relinquishing the essential good-time vibe. --Mitch Myers
Customer Reviews:
Man this crap blows.......2005-12-09
I'm glad I listened to my friends copy before I bought it or I would've been mad. I listen to a LOT of electronic music mind you, a LOT so its not like "I don't get it". But these tracks are BAD (and not in a good way). Pretty much all of them sound like someone hitting a trash can with a stick over and over. The drum sequences are unoriginal, uninspired, repetitive, annoying. And there is high hat abuse/overuse all over this CD. I HATE THAT. That incessant high hat *psst psst psst psst* for 6 minutes straight without any variance at all going 130 beats a minute. Makes me want to gouge my eyes out.
Better DJ sets: Chris Cox--12 Inches of Cox, Tall Paul--Duty Free (both of them), or pick up CDS of virtually anything BT or Oakenfold puts out.
The beat goes on..........2002-01-23
A truly excellent compilation that hits all the right notes and puts French House on the map. Standouts include Mysterious People's "Love Revolution," the playfully sassy "I'm the Baddest..." by Norma Jean Bell, and "Music Sounds Better With You" by Stardust. Not a dull moment. There will be uneducated consumers who will purchase such drivel as "Totally Dance" and there are sophisticated listeners who will pick up a classy collection like "Respect is Sleeping." Which group would you rather belong to?
Real good!.......2001-08-20
There is nothing more to say. It is already mentioned in the other reviews. A real cool variated cd!!
Awesome French House.......2001-02-12
Ever since I went to Paris last year, I have been hooked on French house music. It is a unique blend of Euro-disco, trance and big beat, which is perfect for dancing. This album is awesome because it features some of the biggest tunes from the last 2 years. Stardust's "Music sounds better with you" is here, as well as DJ Punk Roc's "My beatbox". Mysterious people is also represented, with a swinging mix of "Love Revolution". If you like Cassius, Les Rhymes Digitales, Basement Jaxx or Daft Punk, you definitely need to get this CD. You won't regret it.
French disco for when you need a glitter rush.......2001-01-09
Here we go with the second "Frenchy" - their term - dance compilation paying honors to the Respect club night, and featuring exclusively French house artists. The main reason for picking this baby up hasn't changed since it's release; Stardust's 1998 anthem "Music Sounds Better With You," the scrumptious disco mover with that Daft Punk sound (as well it should with 1/3 of Stardust being ½ Punk - got it?) still sounds as potent as ever, here served in extended form on perhaps the only domestic release comp to have it.
But there are other songs here that cater to the house fans: "Penthouse" is a simple but effective floor-shaker, and "Where Does Your Mind Go" drops the pace while adding strong vocals to the mix. Included is some filler, yet only "I'm the Baddest" is truly skippable amongst the near-dozen tunes. And I have to mention the notable "My Beatbox" remix by Les Rhymes Digitales, perhaps the most loveable piece of cheese to hit disc in years thanks to an absurd voice box, electro beats, and 80's style keyboards. A fabulous example off all the wrong elements coming together in just the right way.
This isn't the deepest album around, and the oft-disposable nature of disco hurts the long-term value, but sometimes you just want a sugar rush. Grade: B-

Sir Thomas Allen makes the point in a note with this delightful collection of 25 ballads that he rates it beside his many recordings of music heavyweights like Wagner and Verdi. There is no need to justify his enthusiasm, for it is clear from the outset that he treats the music with the sort of complete respect that has made him one of our most-loved singers. It is too easy to be dismissive of this repertoire, but when it is taken at its own value and sung and played with honesty, as it is here, the results are heartwarming. Allen recalls hearing the songs in the family home following the two world wars, "a time when there seemed a need for reassurance." Perhaps that time is with us again, and these performances strike a chord. There are many old friends here and perhaps some new discoveries. Who can resist the beautifully constructed "Love, could I only tell thee" or that old potboiler "The Lost Chord", especially when given with such warmth? A picture shows Allen and family in full vocal spate. At the piano is his father, to whose memory he dedicates the disc. --Keith Clarke

Album Description
With over four years of continuous performing around the Midwest, multiple successful national tours under their belts, and five independent releases, Troubled Hubble are doing it themselves. Hailing from the small town of Elburn, IL, the band cut their teeth at Chicago venues like the Metro, Double Door, and Fireside Bowl. Drawing inspiration from bands such as Built To Spill, Modest Mouse, and Dismemberment Plan, Troubled Hubble has a melodic, pop-rock sound that's powerful and arresting as comfortably as it is playful and disarming. In Music We Trust said of the band's last album, "The songs have that punch, a hard-hitting punk-esque feel to it (courtesy of the rhythm section, most notably the drums), while maintaining a knack for budding hooks." Punknews.org wrote, "Their live show and their music are incredibly fun, even while tackling tricky subjects; they are optimistic about it all. Yet they are not MTV happy-pappy-punk, they maintain the indie edge and originality. The guitars are not heavily distorted, the remain angular and at times intricate, the bass parts are some of the most creative I've heard." Their Lookout Records debut album "Making Beds In A Burning House" was produced by Dismemberment Plan guitarist Jason Caddell and mixed by Jason Carmer (The Donnas, The Explosion).

Good indie/pop rock, but I would definitely not call this classic - you'll still like it, I think.......2006-01-13
There are several reasons why Troubled Hubble's "Making Beds in a Burning House" is not a classic, but that's not to say it's a bad album. First of all, the singer's voice lacks the charm or charisma that a Sting or Bono has - he doesn't seem to be trying hard enough. Don't get me wrong here - he's good, but he sounds kind've generic and uninspired (he DOES have a unique voice, though, which is good). Every song here is good, thankfully, though they sound kind've generic. I'm pretty sure they haven't found their sound yet. The lyrics are somewhat easy to make out, but they aren't that good when you can. Musically it sounds like your standard indie/pop rock album - nothing new here. Ok, so with all these seemingly negative details, then why am I saying this is good? Well, like I said, every song here is good (and even a great one - see "Ear Nose & Throat") pop rock. It's not Ben Folds good, but it's good. I think that if you like the band or this genre then you will like this album, just not "greatly". Still, I would slightly recommend it.
Highlights include:
"Ear Nose & Throat"
the rest are good or decent
Amazing... simply amazing..........2005-06-26
Saw their show last night, bought the CD last night, loved everything. This CD is fabulous. TH always manages to put a smile on my face and this album is no exception. Buy this CD and Penturbia and it will give you a new appreciation for what good fun music is.
I Like to Say Otepka.......2005-06-09
It's taken a long time, but I've decided: This is my favorite album they've made yet. Penturbia is amazing, yes, but this one's going to have to slide by. Plus, the version of "Nancy" on this one has hand claps. I know: You'd have to hear it to get it.
Every song on this album is well written, well recorded, and well mixed. The lyrics are playful and make you happy, even if they're about the most horrible conditions Americans have to face while in the country (i.e., "Ear Nose & Throat" paints the full-on picture of our failing healthcare system).
If you ever have a chance, catch their live show. And dance. They love to love you for dancing. Nicest guys on the planet. Ever.
