Carolann Martin joined the faculty of Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa to develop the opera program there and was assistant conductor at the Eastern Music Festival for two summers. She has made guest conducting appearances in the Eastern, Midwestern and Southwestern United States.
The Bournemouth Sinfonietta is one of the finest chamber orchestras in Great Britain. Arioso is based in Hartford, Connecticut.
Nancy Van de Vate (b.1930) has received performances in major cities throughout the world and her music is widely recorded.
Much of Kay Gardner's (1941-2002) music was designed for meditation, relaxation, and healing. Her music has been included in films and videos produced in England, Australia, New Zealand, and the USA.
Libby Larsen (b.1950) was Composer-in-Residence with the Minnesota Orchestra from 1983-1987. Her music has been performed by most of the leading orchestras in the USA.
Marga Richter's (b.1926) music has been performed by 50 orchestras including the Czech Radio Symphony, London Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra, and the Seattle, Milwaukee and Atlanta Symphonies.
Ursula Mamlok's (b.1928) works are performed at festivals such as Tanglewood and by prominent ensembles such as the Group for Contemporary Music, ISCM, the Da Capo Chamber Players, New Music Consort and Parnassus.
Katherine Hoover's (b. 1937) works have been performed by more than fifteen orchestras, and her concertos have featured Sharon Robinson and Eddie Daniels.
Jane Brockman (b. 1949), after receiving an award from Robert Redford's Sundance Institute, was inspired to leave her tenured professorship to score films in Los Angeles. Today, she writes mostly concert music.

Whetting the Taste for more from each great pianist.......2002-09-14
This is a musical feast from well knowns like David Del Tredici
and lesser knowns (who will be better known after hearing this!)
like Andrew Violette. Contemporary classical music is largely
absent from the radio airwaves, so unless you *know* about it, you don't get to hear it. Well, get this CD and get in the know. It's wonderful. There's substance and style here. Great value.

Customer Reviews:
excellent recording.......2006-02-14
One of my favorites. I actually prefer Seelye's recording of Sequenza XI to Fisk's. Seelye's seems slightly more controlled, and while that can be a disadvantage in a piece that demands such intensity, I find that it opens up the piece, allows it an uncluttered balance that does not need excessive bangs and thumps to speak. I've made the difference between the two recordings sound larger than it actually is, but regardless of whether preference lies with Fisk or Seelye, this is still a very high quality recording. The Wuorinen piece premiered on this recording is exeptional writing that fits the instrument extremely well. Having heard this, I hope that Wuorinen will write more for the guitar.
Don't listen to envious or jealous players.......2002-01-09
This recording is very well done. Performers are different and they are going to play works differently. Variety is the spice of life right? Todd plays these works, all difficult with dedication and commmittment. This is difficult music and it commands the attention of the listener. If you want to see what the guitar is capable of, this work along with the works of David Starobin are must haves.
Difficult works played well.......2001-02-01
Todd Seelye gains the distinct pleasure of being the second person to release a recording of the amazingly virtuosic Sequenza XI, by Luciano Berio. Seelye's performance stands firmly in the shadow of the recording made by Eliot Fisk, for whom the work was written. Although, in my opinion, he does not seem as confident in this work as Fisk (how could he? Fisk worked one on one with Berio in the composition of this piece), he performs a rather difficult piece well.
Sequenza XI, requires a level of virtuosic playing that transcends "fast fingers and an empty brain" as Berio describes it. Seelye has achieved a level of mental virtuosity in this performance that makes him more than a the type of physical virtuoso that Berio abhored.
Out of personal preference, I would recommend Eliot Fisk performing on the Deutsche Grammophon 20/21 series of Berio's complete Sequenzas. However, Seelye's performance adds a new interpretation to a work that is not well-known, or often played. I would say the same thing for the recordings of Carter and Babbitt. Seelye's performance lends a new perspective on the works that were previously recorded by David Starobin, the dedicatee of the two pieces. However, Starobin's recording would be good to have in addition to Seelye's for an different perspective. The other pieces Seelye attacks in this recording are well done and his efforts are not to be taken lightly.
