I ordered this based on the product details...it had several selections that I wanted. When it arrived I didn't find ANY of those selections on the 2 discs. I guess I will keep searching, and read more carefully next time - but I did read the contents, but not what I received - though it looks like the CD case with correct title.

You will find a wonderful treasure here!!.......2001-04-07
"Isle of the Dead" is one of Rachmaninoff's compositions that is seldom if ever performed publically, and thus it is unknown to a vast percentage of classical music lovers. However, if you love Rachmaninoff, you will prize this CD and ALL the selections, especially "Isle of the Dead." It is composed with a clear attempt to "paint" a picture for the listener, to use unusual meter and chordal progressions that pull at one's emotions. It has been claimed that Rachmaninoff wrote this piece after seeing a painting entitled "Isle of the Dead." His genius shows through with unusual clarity in this beautiful composition, and Horenstein's interpretation is flawless, as always. Buy it!! You will never regret spending this small sum for all the enjoyment and musical stimulation you will receive in return!
Earl Wild - Virtuoso.......2000-04-16
I own 4 CDs containing various versions of the Rachmaninoff 2nd; Van Cliburn among them. Wild's version is an absolute standout. Where the other versions tend to drag and become heavy-handed at spots where they need to be brilliant, Earl Wild's interpretation I believe is more faithful to Rachmaninoff's incredible talent.

Great CD.......1999-10-31
This album is gorgeous, mainly because of Te Kanawa's moving interpretations, and of course, her voice. Te Kanawa's ability for 'floaty' French music is striking...for a big, rich voice to achieve light, legato sound is unusual in opera today, and is very pleasant to the ear. If you want French arias, this is the CD for you! Te Kanawa's 'L'invitation Au Voyage' and 'Depuis Le Jour' are completely unmatched - particularly the Depuis Le Jour - now my favourite aria!

A real mish mash..........2007-03-20
Believe me there are far better ballet introduction CDs out there. Note that the "Nutcracker Suite" only includes excerpts; there is plenty of room for it's entirety. "Samson and Dalilah" is either poorly remastered or not at all. Was the Prelude from "La Traviata" scored for ballet? If not, whats it doing here? "Invitation to the Dance" is the true bright spot on the disc. Just a little buyer's info before you purchase.
