A string quartet; music for bass flute and piano; alto flute and piano; solo bass flute; and a contata for soprano, strings, and piano are included. Each piece is carefully crafted by Kessner, who is obviously a master at his craft.
The word painting in the cantata is as eloquent as it gets. The virtuoso performances on bass and alto flutes thrill the listener; the quiet moments speak to the contemplative part of the soul. At other times, one is simply overwhelmed by the beauty of the music. The string quartet is a must-hear for all of us who love that genre.
"In the Center, Daniel Kessner at Forfest" includes five pieces by Daniel Kessner that were performed at the Forfest festival in the Czech Republic. The CD captures the excitement of the music festival and provides new riches each time I play it.
