Liszt is less well known than other piano composers for a variety of reasons. The main reason, in my opinion, is a lack of high profile pieces such as Chopin's Nocturnes or Etudes. Most performers focus on the exceptional virtuosity required but alas do not go beyond to discover a world of poetry. Leslie Howard pays tribute to Liszt. He has recorded the whole works (more than 90 CD over 15 years) of Liszt, some for the first time ! He masters the virtuosity and let us discover what a fine composer Liszt really is, well ahead of his time. The Marches are brilliant.
