Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Not for Spanish speakers........2007-06-29

I should have sampled the tracks, but got carried away by the knowledge that anything produced in Germany by MD+G will be first class. Unfortunately, only three tracks are worthy, namely, those where Ms. Wolf DOES NOT sing.
Ms Wolf certainly has beautiful and exotic Latin looks (of course, that does not mean she speaks Spanish idiomatically). She has a good voice. But her attempt to sing these pieces as art-songs is wrong. Worse, however, is her diction. For those of us who grew up in South America it is painful to hear those "rrr" and "gggg". And when the tempo is faster you can only hear a blurr of letters with no meaning. Her Italian is no better, I am afraid. Horrible.
I cannot hear this CD again. I think these are songs that only native speakers can tackle. So I will rip those three piano solos and re-sell it. An unfortunate waste of money, but worse, a waste of the good performance by Mr Irmer and the outstanding production values (even the cover has been marvellously chosen) that MDG always maintains. As for beautiful Ms Wolf: please sing something else. Sorry.
