A collection of early keyboard music from England, France, Italy, and Scotland including works by John Barrett, John Blow, Duncan Burnett, Orlando di Lasso (Orlande de Lassus), Henry Purcell, and Jean-Philippe Rameau. "Well-Kept Secrets" holds selections from the obscure sixteenth century Venetian "Intabolatura Nova di Balli", and two of the oldest known melodies for keyboard - "The Short Mesure off My Lady Wynkfelds Rownde" and "My Lady Careys Dompe". There are twenty-one harpsichord pieces within the sixteen tracks.

    The idea of ancient, medieval and renaissance music rearranged for harpsichord, caught my curiosity. Well, none of that here. Basically 17th century harpsichord music. having said that, and to be fair to the artist, the compositions and the performance was pleasant enough. good for a sunday morning listen.

    Another gem from this artist. The excellence of the artist shines through with this cd. As a listener, Virginia enlightens and educates as she produces such movement in her works with the keyboard - that truly provide you with a reflection of the many facets of early music from those times. A sheer joy.
