Editorial Reviews
Henri Busser, Paris
Cecilia de Majo is a much talented harpist.

The Daily Journal, Caracas
One could not hope to hear anywhere more beautiful of finer harp playing. She displays a clear mastery....

Album Description
Born in Caracas, internationally educated and -minded, Cecilia de Majo is an outstanding artistic personality. Her harpist training, initiated at the age of six, was conducted under the tutorship of such eminent teachers and refined musicians as Marcel Tournier in Paris and Bernard Zighéra in Boston and culminated in her winning the First Prize at the Paris Conservatory of Music with the unanimous vote of the jury. Cecilia de Majo has not only attended a brilliant soloist career, she has also led an outstanding pedagogical activity and given life to a cluster of exquisite musical ensembles, such as the "Cecilia de Majo Harp Ensemble", which was presented with great success at the 1990 IV World Harp Congress in Paris, and the much applauded "Flute and Harp Duo" with American flautist Glenn Egner. Cecilia de Majo is not new to harp music recording. Her previous outputs on audiotapes (Classic Recital, Romantic Recital) and long plays (Romantic Duo, Venezuelan Recital, A Ceremony of Carols), well known to harpists and lovers of fine music, are long outsold. They contained unforgettable interpretations, like that of G. F. Haendel - Grandjany's Harp Concerto in B Flat, the Parish-Alvar's Serenade, and Samuel Rousseau's Pastoral Variations. They were impressive for their deeply inspiring sentiment and captivating warm sound, no less than for their technical virtuosity and elegant phrasing. The present CD is the result of the remastering of the artist's first two collections. They have been fully digitalized, yet not altered by audio filters, thus maintaining the original crisp sound of the studio recording. As a whole, this CD is a testimonial of Cecilia de Majo's pondered vision of Classic and Romantic music playing on the harp, in search of the difficult balance between the original spirit of the compositions, as handed down by academic teaching, and contemporary, sometimes warmer, sometimes soberer, sensibility.

5 out of 5 stars Bellissimo, beautiful.!.......2006-05-16

This CD has an incredible feeling ... hard to describe in words. One example : I recently gave this CD to a friend of mine as a gift and she called me back almost crying after she finished listening to it. She said to me...you made my day ;) I guess is the combination of the harpist's talent and the rare romantic feeling of the harp. I recently learned C. de Majo gave her first recital when she was only 7 years old. Wow! I'm sure everybody will enjoy it as much as I did. Bellissimo, beautiful, estupendo....

5 out of 5 stars Pretty Amazing.......2005-07-24

Indeed this is only the fourth time that my wife & I buy a harp CD, but I have to say that this compilation left me speechless. Not only is the player magnificent, but also the program. It's really not a another deja vu CD. This one is very original from the beginning to the end. I'm already interested in other CDS's from this artist. In the CD it's explained how Cecilia de Majo represents the best of both american and french harp music playing, since she studied with Zighera in Boston and Tournier in Paris, two of the best musicians in the world. I did a little research on my own before buying this CD and I was curious to actually hear the sound of the artist playing such a complicate, melodic and beautiful instrument. I can truly say I'm not disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars I'm in awe.......2004-11-25

I'm in awe...what ann astonishing harp cd. Harp is such a difficult instrument to play, and yet Cecilia delivers a spectacular performance. She has such a delicate touch, and yet her sound is strong and melodic at the same time. I wanted to introduce my children and family to harp playing and they were very impressed. My younger daugher even said to me: Dady I want to play harp!. The perfect christmas gift.

5 out of 5 stars Gorgeous & Inspiring - I loved it.......2004-07-18

Wonderful!!! I felt Cecilia de Majo's technique and astonishing musicality is probably as good as it gets. Her harp playing is inspiring. What a performer. In my opinion her harp playing reflects the best of the French and American school of harp. Two thumbs up!!! I definitely recommend this CD. It's a wonderful addition to my classical collection.

5 out of 5 stars A must have! World-class harp playing........2003-03-20

This is definitely a must-have for harp music lovers! Cecilia de Majo's world-class harp playing is definitely reflected in this CD. I'm impressed by the repertoire, each piece is beautifully played with delicacy and character. CDs by well known harpists are not very common, compilations are even rarer, that's why I'm thrilled owning this CD. I've been an admirer of C.d.M for many years, her new CD completes my collection of previous longplays and K7s by the same artist. I definitely recommend it!!
