Editorial Reviews I should note that the two exceptions to utilizing acoustic samples are "Dance of the Bacchae", which uses some synthesized electronic and "concrete" sounds (natural sounds, like hammers on metal, etc.) for dramatic effect, and the composition "New Generation" which uses sounds generated by a Yamaha An1x synthesizer on top of acoustic strings. I hope you enjoy it!
Album Description
All the pieces contained on this CD use samples of actual instruments, mostly acoustical orchestral instruments, but is not recorded "live" in the sense that orchestral musicians are actually playing the score. Each note of each component (instrument) of the score is entered into a computer using the MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) standard, which allows the computer to play back the score, triggering and "playing" the appropriate sampled sound at the appropriate time. The net effect can sound close to a real orchestra (well, in truth, not quite as good as a real orchestra would sound!), but can bypass some of the real-world issues such as the cost and effort of assembling such ensemble, plus the difficulties of getting a decent recording of the performance. This technique can also open up some interesting sonic possibilities, since all kinds of electronic instruments can be easily added to the score to produce a new and interesting juxtaposition of more familiar instrumental sounds with completely new electronically generated sounds.

Product Description
This stunning double album is already being hailed as the best Code Indigo work too date. Compiled from the groups live appearances in the UK and Europe between 2004 and 2006, culminating in the e-live festival in Holland and the UK Fisher Theatre appearance, "In Concert" is the definitive record of a band in perfect harmony, performing at the peak of their combined creative and musical talents. In Concert has been lovingly compiled from digital 24 track recordings of each event and features reworked classics from the best selling album For Whom the Bell , plus exquisite live versions of music from Uforia , Timecode and Chill . There is also new live material, including the stunning epic Area 52 and an improvised 12 minute gem Entangled in C , performed by David Wright and Robert Fox.Andy Lobban's guitar has never been better, from the delicate beauty of Autumn Fades to the searing leads on Eden to Chaos. Nigel Turner-Heffer's base guitar underpins Dave Massey's computer generated rhythms to great effect, and Nigel's occasional lead guitar duets with Andy gives the live versions yet another dimension. Robert Fox's chords and piano and David Wright's atmospherics and leads are in perfect unison, and so with Louise Eggerton appearing as a guest on a couple of tracks, the two and a half hours flows smoothly and effortlessly between foot tapping power and gentle beauty and back again. Code Indigo In Concert perfectly captures the live energy, excitement and warmth of one of the UKs premier electronic rock bands, making it a must have for any Code Indigo fan, or indeed, any lover of original instrumental rock music with melody, soul and purpose. On a scales of 1-10 this has a Wow factor of 11 - absolutely brilliant! MM A superbly performed and technically inspired recording . TC Probably the best music ever from Code Indigo E.D.
