Album Description
A world premiere by a 15-year old composer and a stunningly mature performance by a 14-year old violinist are among the highlights on From the Top Vol. Two, a new compact disc compilation of performances originally recorded for the hit public radio of the same name. Hosted by Christopher O’Riley, this weekly showcase of the stories and musical performances of exceptional young musicians can be heard on nearly 250 radio stations across the country. "From the Top Vol. Two" offers listeners a chance to hear a 14 year-old soprano of astounding potential; a stunningly mature performance of Debussy’s "Beau Soir" by 15 year old violinist; a sparkling Brahms piano quartet; an elegant Bach work performed by a young oboe player and a powerful organ performance recorded in Atlanta’s Spivey Hall. O’Riley, one of the country’s best concert pianists in his own right, can be heard accompanying several young soloists on the disc., as well as a special guest on the premiere of a new work for piano and cello written by a 15 year-old composer.
