Having been a fan of La Tebaldi for many, many years, I looked forward to this CD and the very well known content. Little did I know that it was a collection of music very apparently recorded in studios equipped barely above the days of 78 RPM albums. To constrain a range like Tebaldi's within a frequency range better suited for a very average basso is to excise the very notes for which one listens. Even that which escaped the infringements of the recording range available, was muddied by the aforementioned stone age recording equipment, defeating the sweetness of her voice and rendering some of it better described as shrill.

I found this entire recording an insult to a lady properly described as a diva for the ages. The two stars I offer are only for her voice, despite the injustice done it by this recording.

The Early Recordings .......2005-01-21

On this disc are some divine arias made more so by the voice of La Bellissimma--Renata Tebaldi. These earlier recordings are neglected by the original label (I suppose DECCA) because she recorded so many wonderful arias and operas in hi-fi stereo later in her career, ma qui e la voce d'angelo, simply the most beautiful of her career!

I must say that REGIS is far from my favorite label but at this price La Tebaldi is a MUST!
