Victor Torres, Chant There is a great deal we do not know about the life of Philipp Heinrich Erlebach. It seems that he composed works in every genre, writing sacred concertos, cantatas, historae )settings of biblical stories), masses and motets, arias, festival and homage cantatas, dramatic works and ballets, as well as instrumental overtures and sonatas. Very rarely mentioned in contemporary accounts, a great deal of his compositions survive to this day. The CD is beautifully packaged (consistant with all Alpha Productions) and comes with a 32 page booklet complete with libretto and extensive liner notes in French, German and English. A musical feast, enjoy!
