Album Description
Experience Christmas in Germany, in this CD showcasing the glorious tradition of German a cappella music- including such favorites as In dulci jubilo, Lo how a rose, and Franz Biebl;s Ave Maria. The grand style of Baroque cori spezzati (divided choirs) is featured with Heinrich Schutz's Deutsches Magnificat and works by Praetorius. Also on the CD are motets by Bruckner and Distler, and Johannes Brahms' Marienlieder. Seattle Pro Musica's Women's Schola performs medieval chant.

I thoroughly enjoyed the repertoire on this CD since I especially like German choral music. While the group is obvoiusly quite capable, the acoustic environment had too much reverb, causing a somewhat muffled, indistinct sound character. Sometimes the music also lacks a vitality and energy that it could have (Weinachten, for example).

I received 'Weihnachten-A German Christmas'' in a timely fashion & enjoyed it thoroughly throughout the Christmas holidays. The music & choral pieces are superb & bordering in my estimation on the classical. It was both dignified & moving. I highly recommend this work to anyone who would enjoy a true 'German Christmas' ensemble. Mrs. G. Boos

Christmas music for those who love the human voice. The solos by Karen and Lee Maneman are close to flawless. Listen to these beautiful voices sing glorious music on a snowy Winter evening. It's pure Christmas enchantment without a hint of commercialization.

This is an awesome CD. I sing in a choir, and this is the best rendition of Ceremony of Carols that I have ever heard. And Personent Hodie is wonderful. The girls are awesome, and I highly recommend this CD. :)
Delicately powerful classical choral holiday songs.......1999-11-14
Not your usual hohoho, falala lala's. This choir has recorded some of the most beautiful holiday choral music for this season. The interpretation, with high attention to detail, dynamics and meaning brings this performance to a spiritual plane, a star among holiday hype. I highly recommend it to all those who appreciate a classical holiday.
