Album Description
This CD from cellist Antony Cooke, one of Hollywood's top musicians, and pianist Armin Watkins contains Ludwig Thuille's Violoncello Sonata, which an older edition of Grove's Dictionary called one of the most important works for the violoncello since the time of Beethoven. Included in the CD is an early work by Esa-Pekka Salonen, conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Some well-known short pieces by Hindemith are also included.
