This CD was created to benefit those living with AIDS/HIV........when the CD was presented to the public in a show from the SF cast (including Franc D'Ambrosio,aka:phantom.....Lisa Vroman,aka: Christine).....all proceeds went to a childrens aids/hiv camp, where sick kids could play and be children again.This CD was created in love and in the Christmas spirit of giving.......it is truly a gorgeous CD made 2 years ago, and still selling as well as the first release....add this one to your collection of classics and know you have passed a little love down the line.....Merry Christmas!

The San Francisco cast has done it again. On stage and off they are amazing. This CD is one of the best Christmas CD's I have heard. Every cast member gives a great performance. Franc D'Ambrosio, as usual, steals the limelight with his angel's voice. I recommend this CD to anyone who appreciates good Christmas songs and a variety of talent.

I must admit that I was a member of S.F. Choral Artsists and sang on this recording, which was made in 1985, I believe. It's become a favorite of many friends who enjoy a capella choral singing. We recorded it in the lovely St. Ignatius Church on the campus of University of San Francisco, which happens to be on a very busy bus line. We could not record until after midnight because the sounds of the bus could be heard inside the wonderful cathedral with its incredible reverberation. The Reference Recordings folks were using the high-tech digital mastering technology and planned to issue the recording on something new called a CD, an original one of which I have, as well as the traditional LP which was the original big seller. So, after work each day we'd get together to have dinner and practice in the early evening, and then about midnight begin recording until 5am, for several nights straight. One of my fondest memories is recording the gorgeous Wilcox arrangement of "What Child Is This?" about 4am. The sense of the still of the night sounds still comes through on the recording, as does the somehwat ghostly "Happy New Year" at the end of the "Deck the Hall." It's nice to see that is is still available, and I hope folks enjoy it.

"Star of Wonder" is a lovely CD of Christmas-themed music, some familiar and some new. If you enjoy beautiful a cappella singing and love Christmas music, you will want to own this CD. The ensemble is superb, and the soprano sound has a pure, chrystalline, single-voice quality that is quite unique. While most of the singing is unaccompanied, some pieces are enhanced by the evocative quality of a flute, handbells or harp. This CD is a joyful discovery.

    I think this is a fine representation of what young voices can do if properly trained and motivated. I am a middle school choral director, and I use this CD as an example for my students throughout the year. The Britten Ceremony of Carols is wonderfully performed, and the Rutter Personent Hodie is magnificent. I think my personal favorite is "More I Cannot Wish You," which is sensitive and very musical, but still retaining the simplicity of the original. If you are fed up with Christmas CD's that all sound the same, try this one on for size.

          What a pack of lies this title is! Beautiful Music for Christmas? Yeah right! It's horrid. I guess I should be forgiven for thinking that an Xmas CD from Varese Sarabande would have might have (should have) been enchanting. What we actually get is far, far from it.

          This entire CD is filled sleazy 70's midwestern folk music that isn't even of truck stop hotel lobby winebar band quality. This CD is dripping with so much sleaze I'm amazed I managed to hold onto it long enough to get it in my DVD player.

          Shame on Varese for producing this. Shame, shame, shame! An utterly bog-standard CD that ought to be on sale at 99c in the bargain bucket next to the checkout at your local supermarket.

          'Holiday Magic' indeed. Puh-lease!
