Album Description
Volume One of the Band Masterworks Series is dedicated to The Legacy of Miles H. Johnson. For more than one-third of its 100-year history, the St. Olaf Band was directed by Miles Johnson, who used his energy and talent to build it into one of the nation's premier instrumental ensembles. Professor Johnson's devotion to the ideals of outstanding musicianship reaped rewards for the Band and its individual members, some of whom developed professional music careers in conducting, performing, teaching and composing, and many of whom have gone on to significant achievements in other endeavors.
