A landmark entry in the Intrada library of compact discs is the firts release in the Excalibur Collection. One of Miklos Rozsa's largest and noblest of scores, IVANHOE was MGM's 1952 spectacular treatment of Sir Walter Scott's tale of a Saxon knight's quest to free King Richard. The film starred Robert Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor, and Joan Fontaine.

When Intrada embarked on their journey to rerecord IVANHOE, a major obstacle blocked passage: the original orchestral parts no longer existed. Daniel Robbins, a student of Rozsa's, painstakingly reconstructed the entire score, missing not a single nuance. These newly created parts were then brought before the grand Sinfonia of London, where 81 players performed the score under the masterful baton of film composer Bruce Broughton. Broughton, with his dedication to the integrity of both Rozsa's style and the IVANHOE score, achieved a brilliant, thundering, and emotional musical experience -- giving new life to one of Rozsa's finest works.
