All my favorites. I can start the CD player, which is wired to speakers in every room of my house, and just let it play, along with "The Most Relaxing Classical Music in the World" and "The Most Relaxing Classical Guitar in the World." I enjoy an awareness of familiar and beautiful strains of my favorites all day long and never get tired of it.

My brother visited me recently and noticed it right away. That will be another order for this fabulour music.

I was not really a classical music fan but I am now. I purchased this cd for my 14 year old grand-daughter, not knowing we would both enjoy the music so much. She has always enjoyed classical music along with all of the other teen music, rap, rock, country, etc.
Also, it really helped being able to listen to parts of the music before purchasing.

I first developed a taste for this music a number of years ago when my daughter started playing in the orchestra. The reason I made this purchase however, was because I have a great deal of difficulty with anxiety and I was looking for ways to find help. I love these CDs. It helps so much to sit and close my eyes and enjoy the music. The CDs are full of beautiful music.

    Another marvelous showcase for the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, for its distinguished music director, Iona Brown, and for that vivid Chandos sound--so warm, natural, and full-bodied in these works for strings. The main musical challenge is the Bartók Divertimento, written in the atmosphere of impending world war in 1939, yet everywhere containing echoes of the interest in folk song that so occupied the composer in his earlier years. The familiar Bartók trademarks are there, but, all in all, for the first-timer, this is a less daunting introduction to his music than many, especially given such a fully committed, riveting performance. No problems in approaching the winning melodies of the two Janácek works, but few in a "blind tasting" would guess he was the composer. These are early works from the 1870s, when Janácek was under the spell of Dvorák, although they also owe their inspiration to Baroque dance. There is little sign of the passionate, individual voice of the years to come, but the charm of these pieces belies the composer's own estimation that they were "worthless." And here and there (try the scherzo of the Suite), there are opportunities for virtuosic display--which the NCO eagerly seizes upon. --Andrew Green

    This disc is nice, especially for the price, as the performances are totally passable in both performance and recording quality. However, there is a distinct lack of any feeling for the bohemian nature of Janacek's music as would be found by Mackerras, Ancerl, and others. It is possible for orchestras outside of eastern europe to grasp the fundamental excitement and color (even at cost of exacting performance, at times)- Mackerras has done it over and over in this repertiore, and the Kertesz / LSO cycle of Dvorak symphonies remains unsurpassed in that respect. Here, the LFO is reading and playing the music admirably, but perhaps not with the degree of insight or understanding that would make this a stellar disc.

    In short, this disc is mainly good for its low price and repertoire not found many other places, and for that reason is recommended mainly to Janacek completists.
