I want to star this review saying that I am not a musician or musical expert and that my views are strictly emotional rather than analytical, however, as an opera lover I regard Bergonzi as one of the greatest tenors ever come across. His voice may lack the timbre and strenght that other tenors may have (eg Bjorling & Corelli), however his voice possess a conviction and elegance unequalled by most singers in the past or present. I already own this record of Neapolitan songs, I have compared it to those of Di Stefano, Lanza and Pavarotti (three highly regarded tenors) and found Bergonzi's version miles ahead of their competitors in terms of sublime passion, diction and phrasing
