"Lost Yet Not Forgotten" (Enchantments of Long Ago)
Editorial Reviews
Album Description
Early Music from Belgium, England, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Scotland, and Spain gathered and assembled, arranged and performed by harpsichordist Virginia Houghtaling. Bygone melodies including dances and ayres, songs and laments, nonesuch snippets and other nonsense played upon a whirligig keyboard. Among the 23 tracks and 30 harpsichord pieces in this 74 minute CD are songs from the early thirteenth century through the seventeenth century including selections by Guilelmus Monachus, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Pietro Paolo Borrono, Johann Jakob Froberger, Hans Newsidler, August Normiger, Johannes de Florentia, Tylman Susato, William Babell, Christopher Gibbons, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Miguel de Fuenllana, and numerous anonymous works. This album includes a 12 page full color booklet of original art photographs taken in Oregon of Mount Hood and Timberline Lodge - a truly enchanting collection of melodies from a distant past and visions of a future present.
