Welcome to true Catholic liturgy.......2001-04-23

I first purchased this CD when I began a study the Catholic liturgy a few years ago. At first, I was unsure if I'd really like the CD, but then I've always liked the Opus 111 label. I gave it a try and now it my ABSOLUTE favorite CD of Gregorian Chant. I'll even go so far as to say that it is a real "must-have" for any Catholic who knows (or wants to know) good liturgy. The 'Dies Irae' sequence, which is the best track on the CD, is just under 15 minutes and is absolutely phenomenal. This CD truly stirs emotion by just listening to it and makes good background music for when you pray privately. However, it is even better to study what the message of this brilliant CD really is, to ponder it, and take it to heart.

There is also a second Mass on this CD that's pretty nice, but I spend most of my time on the one (the Missa pro defunctis). This CD, along with a few others, greatly boosted my interest in the Traditional Catholic liturgy and has led me to priestly formation, that is centered around the Tridentine Mass (which was not promulgated until several decades after this codex was made, but is pretty much the same thing).

Now Opus 111 needs to get started on a Palestrina CD...
