Tangos Preludes Etudes

Editorial Reviews
Album Description
Argentinian pianist Cesar Vuksic displays his prodigious gifts to good effect in this wonderful new collection. Six Argentinian Tangos lead the way, with works by Astor Piazzolla, Horacio Salgán, Anibal Troilo and Pedro Belisario Pérez. Ten of Debussy's timeless Preludes are next on the program in Cesar Vuksic's marvelous new interpretations. Two Chopin Etudes close this program that you'll want to revisit many times. This CD truly brings forth what the Washington Post has referred to as the pianist's "...burning passion and intellectual reflection..." and proves correct the New York Times concert review that referred to his "impressive performance." The painterly side of Mr. Vuksic's talents can be seen in his wonderfully whimsical cover painting.

I have never heard Piazolla played with such sensuality and precision. The tangos of Perez were a real find. I was unfamiliar with his work and they have opened up a whole new world for me. The rest of the CD was terrific especially the Debussy which rivaled any past performances of the preludes. I have never been a big fan of Chopin, but there were so many dimensions to the pieces that it made me second guess what my previous thoughts were. Don't miss this one!
