This recording, like the release of the young Di Stefano's recording session in Switzerland from the early 1940's, is a gem. It features a voice of unsurpassed beauty in its early youth. Di Stefano's voice, with its glorious timbre, warmth, and intimacy is captured here singing songs and some selections from a Lehar operetta. Despite the tenor's years, the singing is technically secure and the interpretations mature. Some songs (e.g. Dicitencello Vuje) are delivered with unmatched ardor, others (La Paloma) with unequalled charm, each phrase dropping like honey drops from a rainbow. Buy it and marvel at its beauty.
