Wonderful 18th century music on period instruments!.......2001-03-30
This recording is one of the best that I have listened to. The selections of Sonatas and Concertos are very complimentary and flow evenly. There is also a presentation that truly reflects transition of the use of the lute in the Berlin court toward the style leading to Classicism. The period instruments conjure an image of the polite manners of the 18th century courts and one can almost imagine the great Frederick's approval of the harmony. The use of the oboe and flute in some of the selections contributes nicely to a delightful mix. A great addition for anyone who delights in 18th century music. Great to listen to while you read, write, or surf the net!
