Editorial Reviews
Album Description
Best selling Hänssler Classic artists, Dale Kavanagh and Thomas Kirchoff provide their latest album of guitar magic with a program of two warm-spirited concertos for two guitars and orchestra. World renown for their superbly polished performances, the Amadeus Duo easily navigate the formidable difficulties of these concerti, allowing the listener for focus on the sheer beauty of their playing, without drawing undo attention to their super-human virtuosity. Composer Domniconis serene Concerto Mediterraneo was an international hit from its first performance, and handily evokes the dusky sounds of such exotic instruments as the ud, the saz and the bouzouki. While not as exotic as the Domniconi concerto, Genzmers fine score, originally composed for Thomas Kirchoff has been a standard in the Amadeus repertoire since its composition, and is performed with tenderness and commitment. All in all, the ideal soundtrack to a beautiful summer twilight!

Not Very Happy.......2006-07-31
This product was never sent to me. It was sent to my old address eventhough I had purchased (quite a few) things from Amazon under a new address.
Exquisite music.......2006-01-28
(Should be 5 stars -- can't seem to edit the stars.) I was first exposed to this recording in a high school Spanish class. I was blown away. Through some difficulty, I eventually came to own the LP. My comprehension of the lyrics has faded, but my appreciation for the music has not. Serious ear candy. It's amazing stuff to these very American ears. Some of it has a "get under skin" quality that is especially pleasing. I recommend this CD to everyone, even if you don't know a lick of Spanish.
Mediterraneo.......2005-08-05
At times lyrical or up-tempo but always refreshing to hear. Serrat has a great voice.
Dusty Towns & Immortal Love........2005-08-04
Joan Manuel Serrat (1943) is one of the greatest Spanish folk singer. He is much more than that! He is a Poet, Musician & Troubadour, permanently touring around Spain & Latin America.
Fortunately, for me, Argentina is one of his favorite destinations, allowing me to see him "live" more than once.
Serrat's first compositions were done in Catalan as he was engaged in artistic-resistant movement opposing Franco's regimen & politics that include forbidding regional languages.
His first success sang in Spanish was the single "Poema de Amor" (1968) closely followed by "Tu Nombre me Sabe a Hierba" (1969). After those two hits Spanish speaking musical market was in turmoil demanding more from Joan Manuel.
"Mediterraneo" (1971) and "Miguel Hernandez" (1972) were two remarkable LPs springing from his heart and his political affiliation.
After those years he will deliver a continuous flow of LPs and CDs. We may mention "Cada Loco con su Tema" (1983), "Utopia" (1992), "Cansiones" (2000) and "Serrat Sinfónico" (2003) as a representative simple of his works.
The compositions contained in this CD emerge directly from Serrat's soul giving the audience a magic tour around Mediterranean landscapes, women, flavors, nostalgia and culture.
The first composition, the one that gives title to the whole CD, is a romantic overview of the region and finally the poet ask his friends that when he passes away they should bury him in a hill's side facing the sea.
"La Mujer Que Yo Quiero" is a brave love song describing his ideal love.
"Pueblo Blanco" is the song I love best. It describes a dusty lost town, being depopulated little by little; its melody envelopes the audience with melancholic tonalities.
"Que Va a Ser de Ti Lejos de Casa" contains a very similar subject to Beatles' "She's Leaving Home" with a wonderful musical composition.
The rest of the compositions are outstanding!
This is a CD to be treasured by anyone in love with folk music and soloist admirers.

Customer Reviews:
I love this album!.......2007-03-05
This is probably the only album I own out of 100 that is mostly if not entirely instrumental. I first heard Marc Antoine on the song "Escape" composed by Jim Brickman. I first listened to the copy of Jim Brickman's album but after the listen I realized Marc Antoine was the best part of that song, so I got his album instead. I was not disappointed by this album (probably the most romantic I own). "Cubanova" is the best track but "Gotham" is pretty incredible too. Great background music to listen to, especially at night.
Lots of potential, somewhat of a disappointment.......2005-12-29
There are some excellent ideas and potential in here, but the CD is marred by a few fatal flaws.
1. Endings of the songs - there are only 3 songs that have endings. The rest just "fade out." It gets very annoying having song after song fade out without any conclusive ending. 3 out of 11 is not very many.
2. There are a few songs that introduce one theme and repeat it needlessly. Songs like "Cuba Nova" and "Gotham" have good ideas, but need more variation. And you guessed how they end - fade out.
3. The entire album is a bit short - 47 minutes. That's a little more than half of what the CD can hold.
I think Marc should have developed some of his ideas a bit more and come up with some memorable endings for the songs. This could be a 5 star CD; Marc's very talented (don't try to play along on the guitar - very hard), but the disc needs a little refining.
Amazing!II Top Notch!!! Speechless!!!.......2005-04-26
All the content of the songs are tremendously beautiful and irresistable. I just can't wait for the next album hopefully will be released soon this year(2005). I have been a fan of this artist since his first album. Until now I have not found any other artist can play the guitar as good as he is. This is a highly recommended album for his loyal fan and also to those who just discover this artist. What a talented guitar player!!! Two Big Thumb-up!!!
Mediterraneo shines with perfection and not so perfection..........2004-11-12
Since I heard Antoine's music in his Cd Madrid, I knew that he is very talented spanish guitarist. With his album such as Urban gypsy, Universal language, and Cruising, He became a rising and magnificant artist. His lates CD,Mediterraneo is perfect but also not so perfect. In this Album, Antoine has added nice jazz and rock style music with the spanish guitar.Mediterraneo starts absloutley magnificant with the tracks such as Mediterraneo and Preludio. Antoine plays a beautiful spanish guitar which will take you away. In middle of album has added nice sizzling jazz music with pop background to his spanish guitar music. Antoine is aunique artist and will bring romance to you.The thing I didnot like about Mediterraneo is the latest track at this album.Meditterraneo and early tracks fulfills your wishes and desire of nice music but it disappears its perfection. The tracks at end are not that perfect because guitar's note is accompanied with tedious backround music. But my purpose is not to criticize Antoine.I still believe that he is a magnificant spanish guitarist. Buy Mediterraneo and experience the magic.
Marc Has Done It, Once Again!!!!!.......2004-10-09
Marc Antoine has once again done a beautiful job making this latest CD Mediterraneo. It's just about the only thing that plays in my car. Listening to it over and over again, I find there is always something I failed to hear the first time. All of the selections are wonderful but if I just had to pick, I'd say "Lady", Mediterraneo, Gringo, Funky Picante, Oh, forget it, I can't choose, every cut is MARVELOUS!!!! This music makes you wanna MOVE!!!! Thanks Marc, keep up the good work. A Loyal Fan.
