Karen Carpenter had a great voice,and here is a big collection of songs from this brother and sister team.To name the best songs from this duo is difficult because there is so many to choose from.But a definite favorite is Top Of The World.I love that tune.
But a song that realy established them was (They Long To Be) Close To You.That song is about their most known song and i love it.There is a great assortment of songs here like We've Only Just Begun.I wont go through all the songs as The Carpenters were consistently good.

To review this cd collection is simple - short and sweet it has all the hits plus some added extras and the remastering is pure perfection. It seems that with every new collection that came out Richard tinkered with the orchestration, vocal intensity and the songs over time lost all their essence of beauty and power that was there when first recorded.

These songs are all great due to the wonderful arrangements by Richard, the excellent song selection but foremost the rare vocal ability that Karen possessed. Her voice was always so pure with open, honest emotion and an ever constant tinge of melancholy/sadness. To change this in any way denies us of the gift that is Karen Carpenter. Her voice is one of the best of all times. Perfection cannot be enhanced as those other collections tried to do.

These songs I can guarantee are the original versions remastered perfectly and it is very emotional to hear that voice come out so clear, so pure - the voice of an angel. These are the original songs in their original form as you remember them.

All Carpenter fans - this cd will be a dream come true. Purchase it and Karen will live on for you forever.

An exceptionally well-sequenced collection. I usually don't like BEST OF discs that scramble chronology, but the people who put this together did a great job; the different styles of production keep this interesting all the way through. In this context, I can even appreciate his poppy early work. Excellent sound. And it's got most of the songs from "Harold and Maude"! Ignore the cover and GET THIS (used).

For the die-hard Cat Stevens fan who wants to hear the 'very best of Cat Stevens' I'd say buy every CD he made. For the peripherally interested, this is the album to get, in my opinion. Not only does it contain a large portion of his most favoured period [Tillerman/Teaser] but it also contains a bit from all his periods. This is Cat Stevens in a nutshell. It includes at least one song from every album. My favourites are Moonshadow, Land of freelove adn goodbye and Into white.

This CD has all of the tracks that you'll ever need, TERRIFIC sound quality, and even a cover that depicts how beautiful, spiritual and dreamy the music is (though listening to the music is still better than looking at some kid doing Yoga). Opt for the import -- it's worth it!

Cat Stevens is another artist I grew up as a teenager. His music speaks to the human soul. I almost forgotten about his contribution "If you want to sing out, sing out" to the film classic "Harold and Maude". It was like reacquainting myself with an old friend. Songs like "Father and Song" and "Morning Has Broken" moves me in a way no other artist can. I consider his version of "Another Saturday Night" far superior to the original by Al Green. Obviously this collection of Cat Stevens songs has four extra tracks that his greatest hits cd doesn't have. For anyone interested in buying a compilation of Cat Stevens songs, this ultimate collection is the way to go.

For those who don't know his work, this is a great CD with all his major hits, a Collection of songs that reveal all sorts of emotions, from happiness to sorrow. For those who do know his work, this is just another CD with his most famous titles. I already knew his work, but i liked it.

This collection is worthy of SIX stars! This is the most enjoyable, highest-quality Percy Faith collection I have seen. Not only is the collection about as "Ultimate" as you could desire, it brings back in glorious stereo quality some of my favorite albums. The various tracks from his "Young Lovers" series are utterly fantastic!!

This is the best compilation of Mr. Faith's orchestrations I have seen yet. Some of the music on this CD I have heard on easy listening radio stations in the 1970s that I have not seen released on CD until this set came out, such as the lush and velvety rendition of Burt Bacharach's tune "Always Something There to Remind Me", with great strings and brass. This is a great set and well worth the money.

Born in 1974, British tenor Russell Watson became an opera singer by freak occurrence. While he was regularly singing in bars and clubs in the Manchester and London suburbs, an owner of one such venue told Watson that he thought his voice was better suited for opera and requested that he learn Puccini's 'Nessum Dorma', which he did and promptly added to his set. Watson eventually signed with Decca Records, issuing his debut, entitled The Voice, in April of 2001. FOUR AND A HALF STARS

As compilations go, this one is not bad but there are still certain omissions. Disc One draws on albums like Portfolio (1977), Fame (1978), Muse (1979) and Warm Leatherette (1980), whilst Disc Two draws on Nightclubbing (1981), Living My Life (1982), Slave To The Rhythm (1985), Inside Story (1986) and Bulletproof Heart (1989). The third disc contains special remixes and extended versions, including the demo of Ring Of Fire.

The tracks are arranged chronologically so it maps out her musical development from the disembodied robotic 1970s disco sounds of La Vie En Rose and Send In The Clowns through her new wave experiments with Private Life, her torch song phase on the Nightclubbing album up to the funky R&B of My Jamaican Guy and on to the pure pop of I'm Not Perfect and Love On Top Of Love.

She wasn't taken seriously as a musician up until the release of Warm Leatherette in 1980, but I have always enjoyed her early disco work, especially the Portfolio album with its great tracks like Tomorrow, Send In The Clowns, I Need A Man and La Vie en Rose.

The following album, Fame, was weaker but still contained a sprinkling of memorable disco musings like Autumn Leaves (not here) and Do Or Die. The almost totally unknown Sinning and Saved are powerful numbers from the rare Muse album.

Warm Leatherette really put her on the musical map, especially her version of the title track that was an obscure synth-pop single by Daniel Miller's The Normal. She also did interesting versions of Private Life (The Pretenders) and Love Is The Drug (Roxy Music).

Disc Two, tracks 2 to 6 come from Jones' very commercially successful Nightclubbing album. I've Seen That Face Before (Libertango) and Walking In the Rain are witty, accessible pop ballads while the funky Pull Up To The Bumper is controversially sensual. The tracks from Nipple To The Bottle to My Jamaican Guy are jerky, funky and tribal with stunning vocal arrangements - all from the innovative Living My Life album.

Victor and I'm Not Perfect come from the underrated Inside Story (1986), which also contains gems like Barefoot In Beverly Hills and the soaring title track, both omitted here. Love On Top Of Love is the only track from Bulletproof Heart (1989) and a poor choice; I would have selected Amado Mio and Someone To Love.

Devoted fans will appreciate the 12-inch dance mixes on Disc Three. My favorites are She's Lost Control, Ring Of Fire and Slave To The Rhythm. This is the most extensive of the various Grace Jones compilations available as of this writing. I'm giving it 5 stars because it does offer a stunning selection of tracks. A box set is the ultimate answer to a completely comprehensive Grace Jones collection.

Here is a great collection of songs from a excellent hard rocking band.
This is a collection of their hits and alot more.
Starts off with Pictures of Matchstick men right up to the more modern version of Status Quo.
Those earlier tunes here were excellent,and they realy had a style and sound of their own.
You can hear the changes musicly they went through with this compillation of songs.

It's called the ultimate collection for a reason. The song selection is near perfect. The 32 bit mastering is simply amazing and has to be heard and the bonus disc is a true bonus.

This cd collection is wonderful! The first disc is very uplifting, full of very catchy dance music. Fun Time is a great dance track. The second disc is more bluesy. The last is the Moonlighting disc. I highly recommend this collection for any Bruce Willis fan! A+

This is a fine compilation of Bruce Willis' two albums from the 80s plus the Moonlighting soundtrack cd. Had you missed any of them when they first came out on vynil or on cd, now you get the chance to get them all and in one package. If you know and like Willis the musician/singer as well as the accomplished screen actor he is, then this is the item for you. One more suggestion: also buy the Hudson Hawk OST cd, including more music and songs by Bruno, and you'll have virtually everything he's recorded so far. Enjoy life! @.

Okay, let's face facts, Bruce is no Pavarotti, but then he doesn't try to be, either. The songs on the album are fun, good to listen to and hooked me right from the start. I didn't know Bruce had recorded any albums at all, to be honest, and stumbled across his albums by chance one day.

In essence, this is all his albums (including 'Moonlighting' soundtrack) bundled together in one package. Good music, good covers and overall, great fun. "Young Blood" is still my favourite...

I will be doing a review on the historic legendary classic 2-CD set entitled "The Osmonds Ultimate Collection" by the legendary band The Osmonds. Yes, you heard me right, The Osmonds. This 2-CD set was originally released on the Polydor records label in the UK (England) in 2003. The Matrix or ID number is 980 8355. It is EXTREMELY hard to believe that all of their albums have been out of print for so many years and are only available in other countries. As always, I will be editing this review from time to time so that you the consumer will get the best and most accurate review possible.

There has been a lot said about this legendary band in the most recent years and it appears that the band is on the verge of a comeback in the new millennium. Please note that I am not a Mormon by all means. As you can see from my previous reviews, I am a hardcore Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin fan. I would first like to stress something very important to all of you. The Osmonds have gotten a very bad rap through the years and have NEVER been taken seriously as a hard rock band due to being Mormons. I think that is ridiculous. Its like saying that we don't like the Jackson Five because they are Jehovah's Witnesses. I feel that it is TOTALLY unfair to judge a band by their religion. I feel that if we would put aside their religious beliefs and just look at the Osmonds as just a rock band, I think that you would be EXTREMELY SURPRISED AND AMAZED! When you think about it, the Osmonds were four (4) different bands: the Motown sound, the Rock n' Roll / Heavy Metal sound, bubble gum rock music and country music. How many bands can you say were like that? If you like the sounds of the Temptations or the Jackson Five, you will love the tracks such as "Love Me For A Reason," "Let Me In," "The Proud One," "One Bad Apple," "Double Lovin'" and "I'm Still Gonna Need You" on this album. Also, if you love the sounds of Led Zeppelin, you will love the tracks such as "Crazy Horses," "Hold Her Tight," "Traffic In My Mind" and "Down By The Lazy River." "Hold Her Tight" sounds like a sequel to Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song." "Traffic In My Mind" sounds as if it could have fit into any of the Led Zeppelin albums. Merrill Osmond's voice sounded so raw and crispy that he could have rivaled Robert Plant on any given day. When you watch some of the Osmonds clips on the internet, it is obvious that Axl Rose of Guns & Roses copied some of Jay Osmond's dance moves while he was singing Crazy Horses up front as the lead singer rather than play his drums in the background. Then of course, you have the solo works by Donny Osmond. I had forgotten how great a voice Donny really had in his prime and is the ONLY voice that could have rivaled Michael Jackson in his prime. Songs such as "Puppy Love," "The Twelfth Of Never," "Why," "Too Young" and "Soldier Of Love" are all fine examples and true testaments of Donny's most beautifully crafted God-Given gifted voice. We also get to hear the beautiful Marie Osmond's angelic voice in the songs such as her solo "Paper Roses" and her duets "I'm Leaving It (All) Up To You" and "Make The World Go Away" with her brother Donny.

When you listen to this collection, many memories in our lives begin flashing before our eyes and we realize that the Osmonds did matter and make a difference in our lives. What I also find most surprising is that due to the fact that the Osmonds have sold nearly 80 million albums worldwide and the Donny and Marie show was one of the top rated shows in the 70's is that THEY HAVE YET TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE ROCK N' ROLL HALL OF FAME! Do you find this fact ridiculous? WITHOUT A DOUBT, I DO! If Michael Jackson or the Jackson Five can be inducted in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame, Then Donny Osmond and the Osmonds deserve to be inducted as well. Look up The Osmonds on the internet, you will find something concerning inducting The Osmonds in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame.

In closing, The Osmonds Ultimate Collection is an album worth buying and listening to especially since it contains some very special priceless music. The Osmonds NEVER really got the recognition they truly deserved, I think its about time that the Osmonds were finally recognized especially since they did leave their mark in Rock n' Roll history not just because they played great Rock n' Roll music, but for being one of the great families in Rock n' Roll history. The Osmonds Ultimate Collection is a great album and a great tribute and a true testament to a great band and family that brought back the glory days and the true spirit of what great Rock n' Roll is really about. I hope you enjoyed reading my review as much as I enjoyed writing it for all of you. I also hope that you will read all of my other reviews in the near future when time permits. GO OSMONDS! I'm an Osmond fan and always have been; they are great performers, each and every one of them. I have had CD's with the more popularized songs from the "old days" already so I didn't necessarily "need" them but they were on this pricey CD along with a new version of Love Me For a Reason and Crazy Horses and most importantly; "video" from the 70's of the two songs above and Let Me In. That's what I'd really like to see/find - a concert video from the 70's! And of course, I know the Osmonds continue recording but unfortunately their new recordings are not widely available so I'll continue to eagerly await their release on sites such as Amazon and [...] Thank you Osmonds for continuing to stick to what you do so well and not following the "dumbing down" of the music that is happening in the U.S. today!
