Customer Reviews:
Excellent recording for bassoonists and those who love it!.......2007-05-13
This being a "local," southern New Jersey production, aimed specifically at young bassoonists preparing for state auditions, I wasn't expecting either particularly high production values or, for that matter, top-flight musicianship. I was very pleasantly suprised therefore when I found that this is a world-class presentation of many seminal and important works for solo bassoon. Rowan University bassoon Professor Lawrence Stewart's bassoon sound and technique are just superb, and his accompanist, Thomas Wade, tackles even the trickiest arrangements -- including the notoriously difficult piano part for the "Concert Piece" by Burrill Phillips -- with gusto and aplomb. These gentlemen made this South Jersey boy and amateur bassoonist very proud indeed!

The music is beautiful, well chosen, and played by two very professional players..what a pleasure to listen to..besides being helpful to young players.
