This CD is performed by an ensemble of youth/teens in La Paz, Bolivia designed to open the mind of the performers to new things and give them something to accomplish together. It's arresting stuff. Imagine an entire CD played on indigenous instruments that's all texture, without melody and time signature. That would be a mess, right? Stuffy intellectualism? No! That's the amazing thing about this CD. It manages to be haunting, beautiful, evocative, fascinating, "out there", and very valid and pretty accessible. It really deserves 5 stars because its' indigenous, semi-improvisational minimalism is the past and the future.
