Awesome help with home buying and sales!.......2007-01-06
Vitt's book has been a tremendous help to us with the complicated and emotional process of buying and selling our homes. We knew we wanted to move, but each of us had very different ideas of what the "perfect home" would be like. Our differences sometimes seemed insurmountable. Also, it was often hard to understand why we were looking for certain characteristics in a home, and why we wouldn't compromise. Fond memories of homes that we had loved mixed and collided with current and future needs. For example, one of us wanted a wooded lot on a quiet street above all else; the other didn't care about location but wanted the home to be big enough to meet our need for interior space. We couldn't find a property that suited us both; how could we resolve this potential pitfall? Ms. Vitt gave us a structure for examining our motives and hopes, as well as a way to resolve our differences and find a home we can both love.
Also, the financial aspects of the decision-making process were important, and "10 Secrets" gave us a very clear path for avoiding potential financial disasters.
A home is so important, both emotionally and financially. "10 Secrets" gave us the tools and information we needed to navigate our way to successfully buy a home.
Also, we were so impressed with Vitt's book, that we gave a copy to our realtor, who frequently has to negotiate between couples, as well as between buyers and sellers. A Must-Buy for Realtors, too!
Have given copies to friends who are thinking about moving. Great gift.
Well-written, well-organized, an awesome book!
Yippee!! I made the decision..........2005-01-25
to stay in my house! Having recently gone through a divorce, and somewhat uncomfortable with my neighborhood, which has a very different demographic from mine, I struggled with how I could manage the house on my own, and finance numerous small and large repairs without taking on too much debt.
After taking the quiz, I realized that the financial stability of my house is the most important factor I needed to satisfy. Once I realized that...it was much easier to invest a few thousand dollars to update the furnishings and to make the house more like a home that reflected my personality. I was also able to take on additional debt to make some costly, but necessary repairs, such a new foundation and sewer line. In doing so, I found a way to restructure my entire debt load that allows me one smaller monthly payment, leaving me with a greater monthly cash flow.
I can honestly say that I wouldn't have had the courage to undertake the repairs, and take on the additional debt, if I hadn't read this book. Having a clear insight into my issues surrounding "home" and understanding more clearly my emotional profile, I was able to make my need structure work in my favor, instead of against me. Without this book, I would probably have sold the house at a discount, and made another, equally unsatisfying move.
Housing and Happiness.......2005-01-05
I purchased this book on the advice of a friend. After determining my housing profile I purchased ten additional copies as holiday gifts for colleagues. This book is the first of it's kind and will assist you in understanding how your housing decisions are made and how to make your home a place of happiness and not only financial but emotional security. I found myself highlighting passages as I went along for quick future reference. I would highly recommend this book to anyone - no matter what your living/financial situation.
Housing Decisions.......2004-12-28
At last a book that entertains you while giving solid information. I especially like the way this author uses flesh and blood real people to illustrate her points. I'm halfway through already in one day --maybe I'll write another when I finish it.
A Remarkable Effort.......2004-12-27
I have worked with Dr. Vitt for many years, and I am always amazed when the final product arrives. This book is just one of many of the remarkable things she has written, but this book alone has been the greatest help to me in deciding to refinance my home, an idea I had been toying with for a long time. After rereading it for pleasure and learning, rather than editing, I have learned a great deal more about the dynamics of buying, selling or refinancing my own home, and for this I am grateful to Dr. Vitt. This book should be a great help to anyone who is considering any kind of housing change.

Flipping Confidential.......2007-06-08
Good flow, somewhat humorous, decent motivator however; I felt the book left the new flipper without much to go on than generalized information such as "surround yourself with a great team", "buy the worst house on the best block" "keep a running budget" ect. If you have a lick of common sense this book is not for you.
Very Good.......2007-05-09
I first saw Property Ladder & got it mixed up with Flip that House. I like the former better because Kirsten tries to help and a lot of times the clients don't listen. It's kind of funny; well maybe not for the clients.
I just finished reading this book and loved it. Kirsten has a great sense of humor and gives great advice on keeping it during a flip. It's the how to, must have manual for flippers & even for someone doing a remodel.
Amazon had a really good price for this & Buying for Profit. Review for that one to follow after I finish reading it.
Great book on Flipping from the Host of Property Ladder.......2007-04-16

Customer Reviews:
Comprehensive book with great tips.......2007-05-06
Even though we recently had a Realtor walk through the house and make suggestions on minor improvements, I bought this book in case there were some things she didn't mention. The book is easy to read and nicely organized. It explains how to target your house to the buyers it will likely attract and how to how to look at your house from a buyer's perspective. It also includes a brief section on the selling process.
The book explains that a seller should make minor structural and cosmetic repairs, which any Realtor will tell you. But it has a handy checklist of all parts of the home to go through. It then delves into how to de-clutter and how to "stage" the house for selling. It also includes a checklist of things to do before anyone sees the house. As someone who has recently looked at several houses on the market to buy, I can attest there really is an emotional hook that some of this staging provides. These truly are inexpensive or free things (such as putting a bowl of fruit out, playing soothing music, etc.) that can subliminally attract a buyer. The suggestions are tailored to people with all budgets for fixing up before selling. It does not suggest major upgrades but suggests things like repairing broken bathroom tile as opposed to retiling the entire bathroom. Some of these things are no-brainers, but it was helpful reinforcement from what the Realtor said.
There is a section on how to market the home and explains estimated costs. It also explains what happens when the house is in escrow and what needs to be done in a short timeline. It explains how to keep the buyers motivated and calm while still getting what the seller needs out of the deal.
One of the best things about this book is that it repeatedly encourages the seller to put things into perspective. Yes, the idea is to sell the house as quickly as possible and make the most profit, but this book shows the pitfalls about haggling over $100 and how it can make prospective buyers walk away from a deal.
This book doesn't contain any miracle advice and some of the advice is obvious. However, it's an easy read and an inexpensive book that will probably end up helping sellers make more money at selling time. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to understand the real estate process and maximize profit without spending an inordinate amount of time or money.
I am not sure if I trust this guy.......2007-04-17
Here is Ready Set Sold! in one sentence: Make your house look like a model home before you put it on the market. That covers chapters 6 through 12, and is heavily emphasized in all of the other chapters as well.
Of course, making your house look like a model home probably means spending thousands. I know it's going to for me, even for my modest place. Corbett's mantra is that the more you do to make your house a model home, the more money you'll get when you sell it. The amount that you put into fixing the place up, with painting, new furniture if necessary, and a zillion other details large and small, will more than be made up for by the eventual selling price that you can command.
Hmmm...but is this really true? I don't know. I'm in California and everyone I talk to, including realtors, tell me that just about the ONLY thing that will command a higher selling price is a room addition (impossible for my house). Everything else is just wasted money. That doesn't mean you shouldn't clean up clutter and make sure things look nice and spiffy, but spending thousands of dollars on new furniture, cabinetry, and so on is unnecessary.
I'm not sure I buy into the gung-ho "It will cost more up front, but it'll all pay off in the end!" mantra that this book feeds you constantly. Welcome to hear any comments from people (especially in CA) that have actually followed this book to the letter and ended up with verifiable results.
One-Stop Selling.......2007-03-07
This is the ONLY book you'll need to sell a home sucessfully. Period. Corbett's blend of humor and personal stories make for a fun read, and he's got an enormous repertoire of ideas that will help you do exactly what the book promises: sell for the most money!
Great Handbook for Selling Your Home.......2007-03-07
This book is great and an easy read! It takes the mystery out of selling your home by explaining what to do and what to expect step by step from the beginning to the end.
I'm Sold on this book.......2007-03-06
Easy and inexpensive tips from this book can help you sell your home for more money and in less time. There are so many photos that show how to stage your home to make the first few minutes a buyer comes in to your home count!

Great Resource! A must read for anyone interested in Flipping houses........2007-04-09
Sebastian Howell explains the art of flipping houses in easy to understand and honest tone. She uses this book to lay out step by step all the things to consider and how to go through the whole process of flipping a house from, "Is this something I might want to do" to Depositing the money in the bank. Not only does she cover the whole process from beginning to end, but she covers all the options available to you at each stage. In doing this she covers the pro's and con's for each option and which people they would be best for and which people should choose another option at that particular stage.
I've read several other books trying to research if flipping is something I could do on the side. Howell puts flipping into perspective for those wanting to do it as their full time job as well as those not quite ready to give up their 9 to 5 jobs. Overall this is a very informative book and a definite resource for those just starting and those who are trying to make the decision... "To flip or not to flip?"
reasonable good.......2007-03-14
I just bought serveral similar books here. I would say this is the good book worth to reading. The good point is that it does tell something you may not know about flipping, not just giving you some basic ideas.
All you need to know to get started!.......2007-03-13
You've seen all the shows on television that shows the audience how easy people make money flipping houses. But, I'm sure that you've wondered, just like I have, just how possible is it? Well, Sebastian Howell has laid it all out in black and white. The author has described the process in universal terms, meaning you could apply her principles to any geographical area.
This book is easy to understand and deals in both the basics and the more complex material. It starts off with simple explanations and moves on to understanding the market and the business of making money through buying and selling houses. It gives clear definitions of the legal terms and the jargon that you'll come across in the industry. The author also clearly explains the various people you will associate with and their roles on your team. I really appreciated the examples used in the book. They help to clarify the material. The section covered on financing is comprehensive and understandable with tips to pulling it altogether.
One the most beneficial sections in the book is a complete list of what to look for in a `flippable' house. She gives clear instructions of what to take note of, what can work and what might cause some problems. Once you've found the ideal property, she leads you through the negotiating process. She deals with renovating properties and then moves the reader onto the selling process. The added bonus to the book is the comprehensive index at the back.
Well written, interesting, and fun to read........2007-01-09
Fast Real Estate Profits in Any Market by Sebastian Howell
This is an extremely well written and interesting book. One reason I found it credible is that it gives lots of warnings to be cautious, yet details how success in the real estate business is possible. So it's balanced. Another positive comment is that the book explains terms well, so that a complete novice knows what's going on. It's thorough, but never becomes tedious. The book explains that flipping is not only a means to an income, but is very satisfying on other levels. Restoring an old house is a creative endeavour, and providing buyers with a home they love is richly rewarding on an emotional level.
The way this book is written appeals to me and is in sync with my learning style. It's very linear, and discusses the process of flipping step-by-step. It explains clearly the pitfalls you may encounter along the way, and how to address them.
The book includes sample documents, and a comprehensive glossary.
I really can't find a reason to give this book fewer than five stars out of five. I have never even considered a career in real estate, let alone flipping, but I found the book very interesting.
Mega-Profits Flipping Houses!!.......2007-01-03

Enter Sebastian Howell. With this down-to-earth guidebook on the art (and science) of flipping properties, you get everything you need to know to start your own real estate flipping enterprise. The 'Devil Theory' of History-.......2007-03-14
is a quick, cheap device for brushing facts under the rug by historians. Conspiracy; the basic accepted theory for antitrust laws in the market place. If this can start an investigation of the market place why not for politicians?
An excellent book with facts, figures, and names, references. All leading up to 911 and Iraq.
Mass Amnesia?.......2006-09-20
This book, published in 1993, details Reagan's and Bush's (41) involvement in supplying Iraq with technology, funding, and weapons of mass destruction. Duplicity and illegal tactics were used to support the regime of Saddam Hussein nearly up to the day he invaded Kuwait, at which point the Thatcher and Bush administrations realized their horrific mistakes, for which they refused to take responsibility.
One of the reviewers on Amazon.com described the book as a fabrication. This charge is not credible, as Friedman has extensively supported his assertions with information collected from FOIA inquiries and the media. Selected excerpts of his detailed source material (memos, transcripts, original sources) are reproduced in appendices.
Friedman states:
"There is plenty of evidence, however, that in the first half of the 1980s the White House illegally armed Iraq and that in he latter period, running up through 1990, the tilt veered so far out of control, and so beyond reason, that it led to the willful abuse of taxpayer-funded programs and, after Operation Desert Storm, to efforts to hide the truth about U.S. policies toward Baghdad.
The author states this was not a conspiracy, neither in the US, nor Britain, nor Italy (who were each involved - Italy through the BCCI - Bank of Commerce and Credit - International) - but the outcome was indefensible and illegal, and the history has been obfuscated. This is a story of deceit and "manipulation of the truth at the highest levels of government."
Perhaps if more people read this history, the public would not be so trustful of their elected and appointed government servants, and there would be more advocates for full and open government communication. It is vital for any democracy to be supported by well informed voting public. The author makes the point that the public must not abdicate its responsibility to understand the foreign policy issues and activities of its government. He states with prescience: "If so telling a chapter of twentieth-century history is swept under the rug- ... Policy-makers, the public, and all those who believed in honesty in government will be the real victims."
A valuable account of complicity in Saddam's ascent.......2005-10-31
Many nations nourished Iraq as a faithful proxy against Iran in the 1980s. Led by the United States, they pragmatically supported a criminal regime as the lessor of two evils while discounting it's equally dangerous ambition.
Friedman deftly examines collaboration that enabled Saddam and policies that ultimately led to disaster. It's timely antidote to similar policy that used B-52s to deliver democracy to Iraq in 2003.
Worthy kindred studies are Gary Sick's `All Fall Down' (the Shah in Iran), Coll's `Ghost Wars' (jihadists in Afghanistan), and Johnson's `Blowback.'
Perhaps more timely now than when it was published!.......2004-11-10
Quite simply, this is the book to read to begin your research on how the US policy towards Iraq has brought about so much conflict, strife and confusion.
As offered with plain and clear irrefutable evidence, including copies of actual government memos, this book shows how many US politicians (many of them Republicans in the current Bush administration!) assisted Saddam up until his invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
This was no mere minor fling. The US government was in bed with Saddam and the Ba'ath Party since the very beginning when they (the party) overthrew the nationalist government with assistance of the CIA. At the time our government provided hit lists to the Ba'athists. One of the hit-men who received those lists was none other than Saddam Hussein. And it off it went . . .
After this book I highly recommend Said Aburish's "Saddam Hussein: The Politics of Revenge" which exposes further Saddam's brutalities and the complicity of the US government and how they helped him rise to power and stay there.
From there readers should check out "George Bush's War" by Jean Edward Smith which shows, again with factual concrete evidence, how the US once again coddled Saddam right up until 24 hours after the invasion of Kuwait and then did a massive switcheroo and altered US foreign policy by _finally_ opposing Saddam and his brutal regime.
Add it all up, beginning with this book, and you have a much clearer picture as to why many people across the globe, especially Arabs and Muslims, are skeptical of US motivations in Iraq today.
"Fooling America II" Investigative writing at its very best........2004-09-22
This is a very important book which uncovers and describes in meticulous and uncompromising detail how the Republican administration, together with William Casey's CIA, secretly armed Saddam Hussein with atomic, chemical and nerve agents breaking domestic and international law and then lying about these clandestine activities to the American people.
Spider's Web is an outstanding book and one which George Bush Sr might want to read to his "Fortunate Son" at bedtime. This just might help the current President gain a clearer understanding and deeper perspective of the historical and illegal trading relationship which created Saddam's huge war machine at a time when he was George Shultz and George Bush Sr's close friend in the Middle East.
Why does the American Mainstream Media fail to hold US politicians to account on their past illegal dealings with foreign dictators which Washington helped to create? Maybe they lack information, confidence or courage? Or maybe some American journalists just don't care what's done in America's name by the White House? But the buck for Saddam's creation and arming stops in Washington D.C. ...and at a desk in the Oval Office which was once chaired by Ronald Regan and George Bush Sr.

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Provocative, appealing and controversial.......2006-08-02
Fomenko has succeeded to convincingly demonstrate the misconception about what "history" factually is... It is fiction and -like we can read and judge for ourselves- no science. It indeed is "make belief" only. I "discovered" Fomenko while studying the "old" history of Al Andaluz, Spain. Having found too many contradictions in available data, having seen too many forgeries as to pretend the importance of christianity for its decline, I ventured out to find Fomenko, who convinced me that we know little if anything for sure of the epoch before the XI-century. However, the integration of the Arabic-Islamic cultural history into the heavily distorted Western fails... There are some attempts to fit "the budding new religion" (Islam) into Fomenko's scheme, but they are too weak to be taken seriously and too often focussing on Turkey as the region where things started to influence the West, which is untrue at all.
Islam certainly was no "new religion" in the X-century. That the highly cultivated Al Andaluz ruler Mohammed-I could have been "mirrored" down in time into some myth about the "illiterate" founder of Islam itself is highly speculative. Nevertheless, Fomenko convinces me about the processes that were involved in forging a christian history. Intriguing and controversial as his books are, I recommend them as to rethink our current position in time and space and simply verify what was claimed. It is a "good" book, but not for bedtime reading... Mundus vult decipi, the world wants to be cheated. Fomenko's readers will understand why.
pharaohs lived in the 3rd century AD.......2006-02-16
Traces of white wine were found in Tutankhamen's tomb however there were no record of white wine in Egypt until the 3rd century AD, 1600 years after the young pharaoh died according to the traditional chronology. http://www.newscientist.com/channel/being-human/mg18925395.400
It can be interpreted as a contribution towards New Chronology theory that pharaohs lived in the 3rd century AD.

Book Description
In his most provocative and caustically funny book yet, Greg Palast, author of the national bestseller The Best Democracy Money Can Buy, once again gives us the straight scoop on the stories that Big Media won't report. Digging up reams of documents marked "secret" and "confidential," Palast provides the latest lowdown on Bush's secret plans to seize Iraq's oil, the fix planned for the 2008 election, who drowned New Orleans, and the horror and the humor of the War on Terror. With diligent detective work, moral outrage, and a keen sense of the absurd, Palast takes on the "armed and dangerous clowns that rule us" as only he can.
Customer Reviews:
The "exec summary" of the Bush administration .......2007-06-27
I read a lot of books on the Bush administration, but this one puts it all together in one big context and timeframe: from the manipulation of the 2000 election to Iraq; players, victims and an outlook for 2008.
Well investigated.
Palast exposes class warfare........2007-06-27
Greg Palast is a modern day Alexis De Toqueville. And, "Armed Madhouse: From Baghdad to New Orleans--Sordid Secrets and Strange Tales of a White House Gone Wild" is "Democracy In America" for the 21st century.
If you aren't angry, you aren't paying attention!
"Caging" You've heard the tern now read why you should care........2007-06-23
Greg Palast got Tim Grifths fired as the US Attorney for Arkansas. Now how did that happen? That a guy who reports for The Guardian, a British Newspaper manages to out scoop the US media?
Want to know how the fix for 2008 is already in? Caging.. a process by which minority voters are first purged, then scrubbed, ID's, provisional balloted, then denied their right to vote. And why? Because they are likely to vote Democratic so off they go. And it's not just Republicans who are doing the scrubbing.. Welcome to the high tech version of Jim Crow laws. Now admittedly denying the right to vote to the lower class has been going on since the Jamestown settlement where if you weren't white, land holding, male, and presbyterian you didn't vote either. So there really is nothing new under the sun but in this case it's time to send some of these felons off to jail.
Read it and weep, and then go out and vote.
Vote in 2008,,,,,,,,please.......2007-06-18
The author has great investigative instincts and ability. Why his findings have not come out in the mainstream press in a timely fashion is the mystery that cries for explanation.
The United States is in debt to this author!
PAY ATTENTION!.......2007-06-17
I had put off reading "Armed Madhouse" because I knew enough of this stuff, but I couldn't bury my head in the sand forever, and I have just read it.
Greg Palast is wonderful at ferreting out information and stunningly good as an investigative reporter. And, of course, the more he learns, the more whistle blowers choose him to make public their concerns. Despite the fact he is a reporter, Mr Palast doesn't write like a reporter. He makes snide comments as well as using more adjectives and adverbs than a proper sort of reporter would. I hope this entertaining and passionate style of writing causes people who "aren't interested in politics" to read the book and sit up and take notice of what is going on around them. If you do nothing else, stand in the bookstore and read the three and a half page chapter entitled "The End: The house I live in." It made me cry.
Even I, who tries to keep up with all the real news (rather than the sanitized TV stuff) learned some things in this book. For instance, did you know that William Rehnquist once headed a harassment team called "Operation Eagle Eye" in the 1960's designed to discourage Hispanic voters in Arizona from voting? No wonder, once he was on the Supreme Court he thought it was all right to appoint a president in the 2000 election. And no wonder, despite strong evidence that thousands of votes in Ohio and New Mexico weren't counted in the 2004 election, Democrats figured taking it to court wouldn't help.
Greg Palast also explains exactly how oil influenced the US decision to go to war against Iraq. Here's a clue: it wasn't what we thought.
The last chapter tells us how to avoid the theft of the next election (and what is planned to steal it). However, as long as 59 million Americans are willing to stand four square against the Constitution (and are even surprised and disapproving of what it says), it is probably too late to save the US.

Book Description
Why do some folks get rich while others just get by? The biggest stumbling block for most people is believing they lack the capital required for serious wealth-building. Untapped Riches dispels this myth. This remarkable book reveals that most homeowners are in fact sitting on "untapped riches." Working diligently to pay down mortgages, they are unwittingly tying up money in equity they could be investing elsewhere for greater return.
Offering 40 wealth-building and wealth-protection strategies, many of which fly in the face of conventional wisdom, Untapped Riches will change how readers think about borrowing money, investing, and mortgages. Challenging the idea that it is more financially sound to be debt-free, the authors believe that there is both good and bad debt -- and that the former is essential to generating cash flow and building significant wealth. Real estate tycoons know it's all about leverage. Now, the authors, who made their own fortune in real estate, show how anyone can get the cash they need, and really put it to work.
Customer Reviews:
Any general public lending library will want this........2007-04-19
Most workers want to choose investments which eventually will give them more financial freedom - UNTAPPED RICHES offers many surprises linked to the benefits of home ownership, and shows how to build wealth using new mortgage instruments, flexible and 'smart' loans, and more. Here are some 40 wealth-building and wealth-protection strategies to achieve financial goals, discussions of 'bad' and 'good' debt, and plenty of financing insights: any general public lending library will want this.

Missed Fortune - Light.......2007-02-28
Smart loans, option ARMs, Pick A Payment what every you want to call them are blunt instruments used by the not so sophisticated buyer. While the concept presented in Untapped Riches does have some validaty a similar and more powerful concept is presented in a much more comprehensive and meaningful way in Douglas Andrew's Missed Fortune. Untapped Riches is a good place to start but will leave most with too little knowlege to do anything meaningful.
It's not rocket science.......2007-02-11
Truthfully, many people out there have been doing this sort of thing for years. The authors seem to do alot to stretch a pretty simple concept into a full fledged book. In this case - I say read it, understand it and put it in your toolbox just in case you need it. Understandably, some will not want to take such risks. Buy this one used!
Untapped Riches or How to Buy Property Without Ever Really Paying For It.......2007-01-12
These two mortgage brokers really deliver the goods with their approach to investing, but at what cost? Sure, don't pay your mortgage, and with the money you save you can "purchase" more property, and don't pay those mortgages either--just keep investing. In the end you will have amassed a fortune and you won't have paid (much) for any of it, because if you are using so-called smart loans, you won't be paying any principal (at least for as long as you can get away with it). Just like gambling, one can become addicted to this type of speculation posing as wealth accumulation.
If "greed is good" is your motto then this book's for you. No pesky values like integrity mentioned here. According to these authors owning your own home outright is a 20th century concept whose time has passed--financing for as long as possible (like forever) is the new black.
Though the writing style of Susan and Anthony Cutaia is less than collegiate, they do get their misbegotten point across.

Gorgeous Tabletops..............2007-04-12
I purchased this book for myself with an Amazon gift certificate. We give a lot of dinner parties and I am always fussing with the table. This beautiful book is filled with enough ideas to last the rest of my life. Even if I don't use the entire lay-out of a featured tabletop, there's at least one or two ideas that can be taken from each page and incorporated into my own design. If you love to "dress up your table," then this is the only book you might ever have to buy.
Perfect Tables.......2007-03-29
The photographs are lavish and the styling of the book is excellent, but what I find it lacks somewhat is the practical ideas. The focus is a lot on the china and table service.
Tabletops.......2007-03-17
This book is not what I expected. The settings were mostly the same, crystal and china. I was looking for new ideas with fabrics, flowers and other items to decorate the table for holidays and special occasions.

Book Description
With her successful books Cottages by the Sea
and Coastal Retreats, Linda Leigh Paul has beautifully captured the dream home in an ideal setting. Now she broadens her scope by visiting the most picturesque and private seaside cottages on all three coasts of the United States, from the cliffs of Big Sur to the dunes of Nantucket to Florida's sandy beaches on the Gulf of Mexico. The most charming cottages in the country are here, including a 1924 stone cottage in Carmel, a weathered clapboard cottage on the Isle of Hope, Georgia, and Tennessee Williams's Key West cottage.
Seaside cottages are intrepid structures. They hold onto the earth as a brace against heavy seas, furious flood tides, and stormforce winds. The names themselves conjure departures and returns, danger and escape: Destruction Island, Peril Strait, and Wrath Cape describe one arc of shoreline. Another coastline offers Fair Harbor, Port Protection, and Safety Harbor. Still another speaks of lost encounters: Dogs Keys Pass, Tortugas Harbor, and Alligator Reef. But the interiors of these cottages evoke only warmth and beauty, providing comfort for those eternally drawn to the sea. Many display artifacts of life on the water: nautical objects and treasures found on the beach, as well as journals, letters, postcards, and books that reflect the long, rich history of seaside living.

peaceful relaxing.......2006-05-18
I love to read and I love houses on the water. When I need to relax I grab this book. It has also given me some ideas to use in my own home to give it that cottage look. Very inspirational and easy to read.
Great detail source.......2006-03-10
Great source of architectural interior details and inspiration for small residential structures.
Sea Spray and Salt-Crust.......2004-07-20
When I picked up this book I was surprised to find it so filled with a wonderful variety of cottages. Cottages on the Coast is a small and wonderful glimpse of styles around the coasts of the United States. A small "photo album" near the beginning shows early pictures of some of the cottages that are featured later and as those same cottages appear today. A great selection of cottage styles, representing different regions of the country, are fascinating with their accompanying stories. This is a book I will go back to over and over again, to look up something I remember, to find something new and to just plop down with it in my lap for pure beach imaginings. I love this book!
Lusting for a Summer Cottage? Pick This Book........2004-07-15
Wherever they are located, seaside dwellings share several common traits. These hearty homes are crafted from tried and true materials that age gracefully in the sea air and reflect local building traditions and styles. They balance the storms of winter with the peaceful days of summer and maximize beautiful views whatever the season.
Cottages on the Coast presents an extensive variety of homes from sea to shining sea. Linda Leigh Paul selected more than 25 examples from Bainbridge Island, to Big Sur, from the Florida Keys, to Tybee Island, and north to Maine. You will be captivated by hundreds of beautiful photographs of vernacular exteriors and very personal interiors.
Cottages on the Coast stands out because the interiors and exteriors exude a lot of personality, and they seem authentic and attainable. New England is well represented with houses in Maine, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket. The tranquil cover image, Treasure Cottage on Key West is truly a cottage at a mere 500 square feet. Treasure Cottage is filled with the owners carefully arranged antique collection, which does not clutter the small space but gives the home so much personality. Other examples, a modernist cottage designed by a Frank Lloyd Wright pupil in Carmel, complete with loads of natural light, and built-in furnishings. Or a cottage recently built on a private island in the Puget Sound, built on a solid rock foundation, with enormous interior beams to withstand the fiercest storms, decorated in a simple manner re-using found materials such as driftwood for a mantel and stair case railing.
Cottages on the Coast will be a source of inspiration for readers who are considering rehabbing, designing, or decorating a seaside dwelling. Or if you are an avid armchair traveler Cottages on the Coast will fill you with travel ideas for your next coastal break.
