Most Likely to Die.......2007-06-29
It's about time the women from St. Elizabeth's all girl's school in Portland, Oregon had a class reunion. One person has been waiting for this day for twenty years. Now it's time to take her revenge for a murder committed long ago. Will she succeed in her mission of retribution? Can someone stop her before it's too late? It's a thriller mixed with a little romance. A good read.
TOTAL WASTE OF TIME.......2007-06-07
Is there REALLY people out there that have read this book who DIDNT know who *the killer* was until the end?? even the most NOVICE reader could figure this one out, which completly ruined the suspense, very early on, I found myself very anxious to get through it as quickly as I possibly could, partly because the mystery ended almost before the story really began, & partly because the rest of the story was just plain hokey, silly, unrealistic, & BORING. I thought for sure this was going to be the best novel I ever read, being 2 of my favorite authors helped write it, boy, was I ever wrong, it is possibly one of the dumbest novels I have ever read, VERY un-entertaining. I am beyond shocked that these 3 usually fantastic authors could write something this low quality, this is definatly NOT up to their usual par, & my only hope now is that this never becomes a movie! if you are reading this, & are considering paying money for this book, I strongly advise you to wait until you can either borrow it, (I will send you mine), or skip it altogether, it really is a complete waste of time & money.
Redundant.......2007-05-08
I just finished reading this book and while it was entertaining, the redundancy was rather irritating. I can see an author remind the reader of an incident which happened 20 years ago, once or twice, as the story progresses but the incident was like a litany in this book. I was getting tired of reading about what happened 20 years ago. I got it the first time it was explained. Like some other reviewers, it didn't take me long to figure out who the killer was, so I thought I must have been wrong because it was too easy. I think I'll stick with J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts).
"Days of Our Lives"...in print.......2007-05-03
I had heard a couple people speak of the author Lisa Jackson previous to reading this book, and the idea of three different authors combining their skills to weave a solid, gripping suspense novel intruiged me.
I was passed this book by a friend and really had to work at finishing it.
Several glaring errors early on tried my patientce...I pressed on...ever waiting for it to pick up and spin into ANYTHING but the obvious killer.
Several points were just tooo daytime soap opera to be tolerated--- The "Red-Headed Cowgirl" disguise, among others; the elaborate set up in the basement, undetected by anyone of course; The Hansel & Grettle trail of "Please find me" clues, all pulled out of a small evening bag by the oh so savvy Lindsay.
The kicker of course was the wrap up at the end, with everyone so very predictably coupled up - living happily ever after and spending a cozy New Year's Eve together.
Blech.
Stunning Read.......2007-03-06
Three friends from high school are forced to confront a ghost from their past when they come together for their twenty-year class reunion. For Kristen Daniels Delmonico, what happened that night in 1986 at the St. Valentine's Day dance, has haunted her life ever since. Her lost love colors her separation with her soon-to-be ex-husband, even extending to her relationship with her angst-ridden, headstrong teenage daughter. So the last thing she wants is to be put in charge of the reunion committee.
Lindsay Farrell and Rachel Alsace also remember that night filled with fear and horror. They dread revisiting the ghosts of their past. But one person is excited that there will be a twentieth-anniversary celebration. This person has been planning this day for a long time, and is eager to relive the night is all its gory glory. As alumni are murdered one by one, it's up to the three former best friends to stop the killer. First though, they have to figure out who it is.
Told in three sections by each of the three main characters, the story is beautifully and smoothly integrated. The book starts from Kristen's point of view, as written by Lisa Jackson. Lindsay's perspective is up next, written by Wendi Corsi Staub. To finish the spine-tingling tale, comes Rachel's part of the story is written by Beverly Barton. Each author has a distinctive style, and yet together they blend into a wonderfully taut, unique, and chilling voice. Beverly Barton did an outstanding job tying all the threads together, using the other two authors' sneaky placement of red herrings to optimum effect.
A frightening roller coaster of a story guaranteed to keep readers hanging on every page, Most Likely To Die tops my list of this year's "Most Likely to Be A Number One Bestseller," with just cause.

Book Description
The real-life work of sex-crimes prosecutor Linda Fairstein brought "riveting authenticity" (Vanity Fair) to her bestselling debut novel, Final Jeopardy. Now Fairstein's fictional counterpart -- smart and savvy assistant D.A. Alexandra Cooper -- returns in "[a] Grisham-esque page turner" (Time) that puts Alex in the line of fire.
New York City's oldest and largest medical center is the scene of a ghastly attack: top neurosurgeon Gemma Dogen is found in her blood-soaked office, where she has been sexually assaulted, stabbed, and designated by the cops as a "likely to die." By the time Alex has plunged into the case, it's a high-profile, media-infested murder investigation with a growing list of suspects from among those who roam the hospital's labyrinthine halls. As Alex's passion to find the killer intensifies, she discovers this hospital is not a place of healing but of deadly peril -- and that she is the next target for lethal violence.
A high-style thriller that sweeps from Manhattan to London to Martha's Vineyard, Likely to Die is an exhilarating tale from a justice system insider and provocative novelist.

Customer Reviews:
Trying to like the series..........2005-09-08
The book starts out great then slows in the middle, then from out of no where is wrapped up in the last chapter. The London trip seemed like it was thrown in to take up pages. There didn't seem to be any big surprise as to who the bad guy was and I didn't seem to rush myself reading this book, more like having no interest in picking it up to finish it. I really want to like this series, but the characters seem to be missing something....
Fails to grab my interest.......2005-04-29
Likely to Die is Linda Fairstien's second entry into the Alexandra Cooper series and the first I've read. At no point during reading this novel did it really grab my interest and therefore it'll probably be the last book I read by this author. A good thriller has to catch you from the beginning, and Likely to Die just doesn't do that. Fairstein's experience as a prosecuter of sex crimes does add some interesting sidebars about sex crimes that are interesting, but irrelevant to the story.
The story revolves around a respected neurosurgeon, Gemma Doggen, being brutally murdered. Alex Cooper takes the case as the District Attorney and joins with the cops as they try and find the killer. In the first 100 pages or so, there is a lot of interaction between Cooper, and detectives Chapman and Mercer. They investigate the crime scene and organize the investigation. What Fairstien leaves out is a reason to care about Gemma Dogen or some reason to fear the killer.
The entire story is from Cooper's point of view, so witnesses aren't interviewed until well into the novel and Dogen's background isn't explored until it was too late. Likely to Die could have been a good novel if it dove right into Dogen's past and why she might have been killed. As it is, this novel provided little mystery and even less suspense. It also could have used some editing because there is way to much of Cooper's personal life with names of friends being dropped constantly that have nothing to do with the story.
As a second novel, I guess this was pretty good. I recommend reading Fairstien's latest works and go back to this one if you like them.
Authentic and compelling.......2005-03-31
It's obvious that Linda Fairstein, who works in New York's District Attorney's office, really knows her stuff. This novel is a gritty legal thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I liked the characters, especially Mike, the homicide detective. I also liked that the plot was complicated but never confusing.
I was hooked and then let down at the end.......2004-08-01
This book had all the hopes of a great one. Feinstein is awesome at holding interest with all of the excellent behind the scenes action of the life of an assisstant DA. That is what I loved about the book. I thought Alex's stint in London was a bit too long and really didn't have much to do with the plot. But the ending is what got me. There was no surprise and not all of the loose ends were resolved. The book went from a 5 to a 3 in about 10 pages. I spent one whole morning reading the last 100 pages, couldn't put it down and then kicked myself for wasting all that time.
Hopefully, Feinstein has improved her endings in the series, otherwise I'm going to have to give her up.
Another Great Mystery in the Alexandra Cooper Series!.......2004-03-17
Alexandra Cooper, head of New York County's Sex Crimes Prosecution Unit, hadn't been involved in a major case since her actress friend was murdered six months previous so she was a little surprised when Detective Mike Chapman woke her at 5:30 am about a new case. Turns out Gemma Dogan, head of neurosurgery at Mid-Manhattan Medical Center, brain surgeon and professor for the prestigious hospital was found stabbed six times in her office. It also appeared as if she had been raped and then left for dead. Alexandra was a little uncomfortable with the comparisons to her own personal life, or lack thereof, and put all of her energy into finding out who hated Gemma enough to do this to her.
Unfortunately, Alexandra soon finds herself with a long list of suspects. There is John DuPre and Coleman Harper, both neurologists who claim to have evidence regarding the murder, but details of their interviews conflict and don't quite add up. There is William Dietrich, the director of the hospital, who is desperate to clean up the hospital's public image. Then there are the many applicants for Mid-Manhattan's neurology unit that Gemma denied. Failing those, there are the hundreds of homeless people who live in the tunnels and basements of the hospital and wander about at will, including one that is know simply as 'Pops' who was found wearing scrubs covered in human blood. As Alexandra sifts through one lead after another, she uncovers a lot more dirty secrets at Mid-Manhattan, secrets that someone will do anything to keep hidden...
Likely to Die is the second book in the Alexandra Cooper series (after Final Jeopardy) and I enjoyed it just as much. I love the way Fairstein accurately portrays the ins and outs of the judiciary system and police methods. Alexandra doesn't just drop everything to take on this case, she has many other cases that she is supervising and advising and it is interesting to follow her throughout her day as she preps witnesses and aids her fellow prosecutors. I also enjoyed the banter between Alexandra and Mike, especially their bets on the Jeopardy games. I really felt like I was reading a book about what it is like to work in the Sex Crimes Prosecution Unit in New York. I loved the author's attention to detail and clear, crisp writing style. Definitely an author that I will keep reading.

Book Description
GroundBreaking Research by Two Best-Selling Authors: Elevated Homocysteine IS Causatively Associated with over 100 Major Medical Conditions! Dr. James Braly and Patrick Holford combined their years of research and writing experience to produce The H-Factor Solution. This book shows that elevated homocysteine is not confined to heart disease, strokes, abnormal blood clotting, and Alzheimer's disease, but is a powerful, independent risk factor in more than 100 other major medical conditions as well-cancers, leukemia, accelerated aging, clinical depression, sleep apnea, alcoholic withdrawal seizures, problem pregnancies, H. pylori ulcers, diabetes, and hypothyroidism, to name just a few. The authors go on to show what factors contribute to high homocysteine, how to detect it if it's too high, and how to dramatically lower it to a risk-free range with simple dietary changes and aggressive nutrient supplementation. The H-Factor Solution is the first book to clearly explain how plasma homocysteine is the single best functional indicator of folate, B12, and B6 vitamin status; when homocysteine is high, one or more of these vitamins is low. The H-Factor Solution is also the first book to compellingly argue that elevated homocysteine is also an excellent biological marker for glutathione, SAMe, L-cysteine, and methyl donor deficiencies; when homocysteine is high, one or more of these critical antiaging, health- promoting natural body chemicals is deficient. Much of the remainder of the book is devoted to describing exciting advancements in laboratory testing and a clear definition of the optimal range for homocysteine.

Kate Jasper is accused of electrocuting an obnoxious former classmate at a high school reunion.
Customer Reviews:
A fun read.......2000-03-09
Kate Jasper is the cheif suspect of the murder of a high school friend when he is electrocuted with her pinball machine at a reunion BBQ. Wanting to clear her name, she starts to investigate the other guests. She steps up her pace when another from the group turns up dead.
This is a fun read. If you're looking for more action than interviewing suspects, look elsewhere. However, there are some interesting suspects and subplots here, and it's a fun read. I also enjoyed getting a look at the area I grew up in, being a Santa Rosa native.
A fun story.......2000-01-25
When at a reunion of her high school friends, one of them falls over dead, the result of an electrocution. Kate is determined to find out who did it and why, especially since she's the top suspect.
If you're looking for action, this book isn't for you. The plot basically revolves around Kate talking to the suspects. However, I found it humorous in spots. I was drawn into this book and could hardly put it down.
Disappointing........1999-08-03
This is the first -- and last -- book I will read by this author. The characters were tiresome and rather pathetic, and the possible motives and methods of committing the crime are a stretch at best. Humor can go a long way toward making a weak plot at least a fun ride. But the attempts at humor fall flat here. I could go on, but this book hardly seems worth the effort.

A Class Reunion Turns Deadly For America's #1 Teen Detective.......2003-07-11
Nancy Drew's old high school friend seemed to have everything. Wendy Harriman was popular, beautiful and she was the school's best cheerleader, but someone wants her out of the picture -- for good.
Wendy invites several of her old friends to a party at her house for swimming, barbecue and to reminisce about high school days. The party takes a turn for the worse when gasoline is subsituted for charcoal lighter. Then, Wendy's room is ransacked, and a doll with a knife stabbed through it are found in her room with a threatening note.
Wendy is not the only one who is being targeted by a scheming classmate. One by one, Nancy's former classmates are being threatened and attacked. To make matters worse, Don Cameron is back -- and he wants Nancy to be his girl again.
Nancy must solve this case before she too is voted "most likely to die."
S.J.
"Nancy's high school reunion party turns up an old flame...".......2003-03-17
While Ned Nickerson (Nancy Drew's boyfriend) is usually in the background for most of this series, he's more involved in Nancy's 27th case, "Most Likely to Die," playing the jealous boyfriend when an old flame of Nancy's shows up at an unofficial River Heights High School reunion. Wendy Harriman, the mean-spirited cheerleader type, is the hostess of this get-together; she's also the first victim of someone who wants revenge. Several other classmates are threatened and harmed, including Nancy. So, it's up to her and her sidekicks--Bess Marvin, George Fayne, and now Ned--to find out who it is. While some of the end-of-chapter cliffhangers were pretty lame, "Most Likely to Die" was, overall, a very good addition to this series, and fans of this series should like it. Plus it was nice to see Nancy back in her hometown for a change.
This is a cool book!.......2000-03-09
I loved this book! i think this should be number 1 on your list of reading! This is a very exciting book. Nancy Drew Ned, Patrick, Wendy, Monica, Judd, Don, and Celia are all at a party, and Wendy went to her room, to find it all trashed up, and she found a doll with a knife and a note stabbed to her chest. The note said "Wish this were you!" And a lot of pranks from then on. Wendy even gets threatened to be killed!
A very Interesting book.......1999-12-17
Advise u to read this book. You'd be surprised to see who is playing pranks- dangerous ones. The book is so full of suspense
