Excellent book for someone interested in any field related to real estate, architecture or construction. Very, very helpful in becoming familiar with zoning, land and construction of different types of homes. Lots of pictures and diagrams. Not just a bunch of reading.

This books offers a number of well thought out bathrooms, mostly modern in design, accompanied with beautiful photographs. The styles tend towards the minimal so don't consider this book if ou are more traditional in sensibility./

Peter Joel Harrison provides a valuable service to architects, designers, preservationists, landscapers and homeowners by researching, recording and presenting the details of historic homes and gardens. His books, full of accurate drawings of period fences, gates, gazebos, trellises, pavement and garden walls, are tools for anyone who's restoring an 18th or 19th century home or landscape and inspiration for anyone who hopes to infuse some of yesterday's charm into a new building. I used Brick Pavement and Fence-Walls for ideas on some new garden walls in Richmond, Virginia. They look almost as elegant as Harrison's examples from James River plantations, and seem just right for their location.

Classic Manuscript of Brick Patterns.......2000-10-05

At first glance, the book resembles an ancient work by Palladio or other. The drawings are beautifully simple yet a bit coarse for today's standards. The book is made up mostly of patterns and elevations; text is limited to a 13-page index and a some explanations on tools and methods. Overall, the book is quite useful, but missing are the following: pictures, better diagrams, some data about the architect, etc.

Although the format is absolutely stunning (meant to resemble an old manuscript), this book is not for everyone. It should appeal to the designer, architect or contractor.

Who is sovereign -- you or God? This Bible says you are. It says "God has to be given permission to work in this earth realm on behalf of man...You are in control! So, if man has control, who no longer has it? God...God cannot do anything in this earth unless we let him." (p.1178) This is heresy, people. Beware. (I wish I could give it zero stars.)

Wow!! This is an amazing Bible. I love that it's called the Word. So much more power in that than Holy Bible. And what about the people who do the commentries! Woo!

The Word Study Bible by Harrison House.......2005-08-23

This is a great Bible and also difficult to find in local Christian book stores in the States. I found it so wonderful to order such Bible on line in a country like South Korea. The Word of Faith, so called in general, is at the beginning stage in this land, so we need the definition of the Word of Faith. This Bible and the attached articles and the convenient scripture marked by many signs on each verse of the Bible give us a concise map to the Word, the essence of the Bible.
I was so surprised at the book. Because it was only 7.99 dollar for paper back, I thought a little pocket size cheap Bible, but it was regular size big Bible. I paid the same Bible at a local store 79.99 dollar! Thank you for provision of this kind opportunity! You are really customer friendly company!

Outstanding Bible!.......2005-08-05

I have been using this Bible for well over a year now and I have been very impressed with it. It's always great to have a Bible like this to use and study with. The study notes and information in the back are outstanding!

I also recommend the ministry and teaching materials of Andrew Wommack. He has written the only Bible Commentary I have ever found from a Spirit-filled, charismatic point of view.

This book provides an overview of a number of houses built by the Dutch colonist and their descendants in the former colony New Netherland. Beautiful photo's and an extensive historical description of eacht house and its area.

One of may favorites.......2005-05-19

This is one of may favorite books featuring authentic Dutch colonials.

The pictures are wonderful as well as the text.
I had no idea as to the contribution the Dutch had not only in architecture but to the development of the country.

There are many distinctions in their details. There are also many commonalities. I've been able to sort through and incorporate some simple but memorable treatments in one of my projects thanks to this book.

It's a great reference for ideas as well as history and I turn to it often as of late.

wonderful visuals!!.......2002-10-15

This book contains some of the best visuals I have seen in quite a long time. The useage of lateral light to bring out texture, color, and ambience is striking. The authors have succedded in isolating commonplace daily scenes found in everything from common humble surroundings to the grandest settings. All scenes are presented equally well, and ,most important, in a new manner- Thus allowing the contemporary viewer to more than glimpse into the past. The visuals are accompainied with an informative, very readable text to greatly aid the reader in interpretation of the scenes depicted. Well done!

great book on a little known subject.......2002-09-27

The material culture of the Dutch in America has always been misunderstood, mis-interrupted, and ignored. Now a book which gives visual evidence of the major contributions of the Dutch in the New World- how this culture in large part contributed to the newly emerging American culture and society.
This is a must read for anyone interested in early American history as well as the colonial era.

Saw the Jim Thompson House in person, book is a reminder.......2002-03-06

Well, "book is a reminder." I guess that's the most that comes to mind about this book. Whether you should purchase this book depends on what you're looking for. I purchased it in preparation for a vacation to Thailand, because I was going to be shopping for Thai style household items and wanted to get informed. Plus, I'm a sucker for a decorating coffee table book that everyone else doesn't already have. I visited the Jim Thompson House while in Bangkok, and so that's why the only thing that now comes to my mind is: the book is a reminder of what I saw.

Tepid impression now, I suppose. The book gives some background on Jim Thompson and how he revived the Thai silk industry, as well as information about the rare antique Thai treasures that he collected in his home, which is now a museum. If you're really interested in this aspect, in particular, this book may be for you. If you're interested in Thai style, I'm not sure I would recommend this book as a starting point. There are other Thai style books that I reach for again and again, while this book sits on a shelf, untouched. It's a nice book, but more of an expensive souvenir.
